Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

Worth the Wait - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By Billly - February 6 - 12:36 amI had researched Crossovers for quite some time before discovering the CX-7. Even before it was out I could tell it was the vehicle I was looking for. It has been a love affair since the day I picked it up. Superior handling, great design, sharp interior. Mazda really did their homework on this vehicle!

Love my CX-7! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By fdixon7182 - January 30 - 12:36 pmAesthetically this car is absolutely beautiful. This is what the Porsche Cayenne should look like. Acceleration is fantastic. Initial mileage 20.2 mpg (and that is not all highway!). Base stereo sound is just so so, compared to the standard of excellence we have become used to. It is a phenomenal car for the money. No, the base model doesnt have all the bells and whistles of a Lexus, etc., but it still feels luxurious!

2010 CX-7 S Touring AWD Turbo - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By jstephens617 - January 22 - 2:50 amAfter searching for 3 months for a crossover, I finally settled on this vehicle. The exterior is very sleek with its wide stance and cascading roofline that slopes downwards to the back of the vehicle. The interior is very comfortable with its heated leather seats. The controls and display on the inside are very nice and quite ergonomical as well. For the price I paid (just under $30K), the amenities it comes with cannot be matched. The turbocharged AWD engine provides the power you need at your beck and call and the AWD can handle any weather conditions here in RI. I have received numerous comments on the styling and how sharp it looks, and I couldnt agree more.

SEE MY TAIL LIGHTS !!!! - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By jerseyboy5 - December 23 - 11:26 pmPurchased last day of September. Big time car buff and researched competing AWD cars for 2 weeks. Looked at Toyota Rav4 with V6, Santa Fe Ltd, Acura RDX. Mazda did a amazing job creating a sporty SUV for $2-5K less than above competing models. Read CX7 forum, had concerns with A/C, however, seems like kinks have been worked out for 2009 and above models.

So far - so good! - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By justagirlthing - December 23 - 2:23 amHave had my new CX-7 Grand touring for about a month - love it so far. The only problems I have had is with the check engine light coming on, and according to the dealer it has been the fuel cap. It is a known issue to Mazda, but other than that - great power. Love the interior and have had many people ask about how I like the car. I have no complaints.

My CX-7 GT - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By pedromatic - December 2 - 1:06 pmMy only complaint is the momentary lag when accelerating. After the lag, it takes off like a bat. The premium fuel requirement hurts at the pump, but its fun to drive.

Best Car EVER! - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By esreversm - November 19 - 4:30 amI love my CX-7. This is the 9th car Ive owned in my 30 years of living. Its also my favorite. The turbo is great and a thrill to drive. I know everyone keeps downing on the gas and mileage however, I have learned that it runs great if you can alternate between mid-grd. and prem. gas, also being very cautious with driving lately due to gas increase (not as much fun!). I can pull about 22-23 mpg in town and usually 26 hwy. Driving it hard it usually gets about 14-16 in town (we gotta have our fun sometime). Excellent, safe, dependable, not too pricey! Dont under estimate the performance till you try it.

2010 CX-7 Sport - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By Dave L. - October 30 - 4:10 amThe CX-7 is very sporty and fun to drive. The base engine has more pull than you would expect from 161 hp. It also gets decent fuel mileage for an SUV. I love the new exterior design and the upscale look and feel of the interior. The interior in the CX-7 is much more luxurious than the interior in the Saturn Vue I had test driven. The base alloy wheels look great as well.

CX-7 Brand New - 2011 Mazda CX-7
By habsexpos - October 27 - 4:10 pmPicked up my brand new 2011 CX-7 last week. Great price and excellent trade-in (2006 Honda Civic) made this an easy choice. Have close to 600 miles on it. Nice smooth, quiet ride. No issues so far. Getting about 26 MPG combined, probably will get better after the "break in" period. Ill come back and give everyone updates.

Great Fun - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By chuckdee - September 4 - 12:43 pmI had been restoring and driving a 1991 BMW M5 and after thousands of $$$, I finally blew the engine. Faced with needing a new Something, ANYTHING, I succumbed to the ads and tried the CX-7, the Speed6 and the Tribute. Even though Id had three turbocharged Saabs in the past, the turbo lag nearly killed me a couple times, because I thought the thing would have acceleration similar to an m5... duh! Clearly it does not, but it IS fun, totally different looking and certainly fast enough. Ive had 15 cars in my life, including 2 Vettes, Saab Turbos, etc. and this is a fun, easy handling SUV. Just dont try to pass an M5 in heavy traffic until you count a heavy turbo-lag 1-2-3!
