Model Overview:

The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.

Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

8 years old with only 70,000 miles. Turbo failure caused engine to fail. $8,000 of non covered repairs. Mazda knows about the turbo problem, but doesnt want to recognize the bad engine design. People complaining about the turbo problem are all over the internet. If you have the car and havent had a problem yet, get rid of it. Its only a matter of time before the engine has an expensive failure. Traded the Mazda in and got a Honda CR-V. Will never buy another Mazda. Edit Been driving the Honda for awhile now and its a great car. Great decision to dump the Mazda.

Nothing but problems. Two weeks after purchase looked under the car to see what the exhaust looked like the car all I saw was rust from the front to the back I was very disappointed when I buy a new car I expected a new car. Took it in for inspection a few months later and rotors needed cut and brake pads had to have rust sanded ( come on just replace them) then at 6000 miles all my electronics shut down everything went off TCS radio blue tooth navigation gas gauge would float from empty to full I have no idea probably rusted somewhere in the components sound like electrical???? Will they ever figure it out?? I got ride of the car happiest day ever took my loss and bought a Nissan again.

Break pads wear quickly, gas mileage very very poor and requires premium gas, turbo system and transmission unreliable with high repair cost. Often need front alignment. Backup camera view screen are poor. Rear seats uncomfortable. Windows and doors noise.

  • Worst Car Ever - 2008 Mazda CX-7

I have been driving Hondas for 30 years. I purchased the Mazda 2 years ago. The turbo just went out and Mazda wont honior the warrantly because there is "sludge" in my engine. The Mazda dealership told me to replace the entire engine at a cost of $9000. I have 60,000 miles on it. Regular maintenance and use synthetic oil but since I did not have my oil changes done at the dealership the dealership wont cover it either. Also, I bought it used and did think to ask for copies of the oil changes from the previous owner and without those, I cant prove the oil was changed every 3,000 miles.

I problemly shoud had went to a use one. Now owning thi car I dont fill proud about my new car I fill hurt.

I will think twice before I buy this car, This is the worst investment I ever made to buy this car. Since when I purchase this car I was not happy and in same way NOT SAFE with this car, Im not sure I will get whatever I want to go. After 1 mo my Warranty was expire the transmission went bad. Sorry but I will fix this car and I will be done. No more junk.

  • Dont Buy or Get Rid of it! - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Bought new in 07/2006, 07 Touring model, AWD,loaded. Like the looks of the car. Real trouble began after 70,000 miles. Had VVT and timing chain replaced, $2500, Mazda rep literally said sorry nothing we can do about it. Shouldve got rid of it right there. Started to use a lot of oil afterwards, still not Mazdas problem. Got another year out of it before an ignition coil went bad on a trip and then only to find no compression in one of the cylinders. This car is a bad engine design. If you have on get rid of it before the miles go up, dont buy a used one if youre looking.

  • DESIGN FLAW WITH ENGINE - 2007 Mazda CX-7

VVT, TURBO CHARGER, TIMING CHASITY AND AC have been replaced 2 times since 2008. do not waste your money or time on this vehicle regardless of how fun it is to drive

  • Got Rid of It - 2007 Mazda CX-7

This vehicle looks great on the outside, but is the most uncomfortable vehicle I have ever owned. Some features are over thought out. If the gas cap is loose the computer gives an error message and the message will not go away by correcting the problem and tightening the cap. No, you must go to the dealership to have it reset. It constantly gave me error messages when nothing was wrong according to the dealer. Minor things are missing, like a light by the mirrors on the visor, and setting the clock was nearly impossible. The dealer did not know how and I accidentally set it. The ride is very choppy, I felt every little dimple in the road. I could not wait to get rid of this vehicle!

  • Piece of Junk - 2007 Mazda CX-7

Bought this car for my wife last January. She liked the styling and the performance over her Explorer. Big mistake. Have had it in the shop several times for stupid problems like wheels locking up while driving, windows not working, and the passenger side airbag light staying on (meaning the airbag is off) even when an adult is in the seat. Gas mileage is atrocious for a 4 cylinder. I dont have an issue with 18 mpg, but a 4 cylinder... lets be serious, especially with premium gas. Sticker on the car said 24 mpg on the highway, obviously they meant a downhill highway when you are driving with a fierce tailwind. Seats are incredibly uncomfortable & terrible resale value. Dont buy it!
