Overview & Reviews
One of America's favorite cars is all new this year. Design goals for the 2002 Toyota Camry included larger interior packaging, reduced noise, more advanced safety features, better driving dynamics and, of course, a new standard of value.
- Roomy, powerful engines, plenty of safety and luxury features.
- High prices for XLE, costly premium features.

Franks Opinion - 2002 Toyota Camry
By fgaydafrank - December 14 - 1:23 pmThis is the 12th new vehicle (5 of the others were also Toyota"s) that Ive purchased new over the past 22 years, and it appears that this car is going to be the cream of the crop!! Although Ive only put about 4500 miles on the car in 5 months.

Moving up to a Camry - 2002 Toyota Camry
By Baron Finn - December 8 - 2:00 amI have had the Camry LE for a month. I moved up when my Corolla was totaled in a flood. I am quite well pleased with the smooth quiet ride and the ammenities. The 4 cylender does not feel underpowered and gas millage is good for a midsize. I am not real crazy for Toyotas cruise control, it seems to forget where I set it when I re- engage but other than that I have no real complaints.

THE SOFA ON WHEELS - 2002 Toyota Camry
By j.d. - November 12 - 2:00 amI feel like I have just kicked back on my lazyboy recliner and went site-seeing. I paid a lot more for the car over the accord but it is so worth it. I had the best salesman (Jay thank you!) at Toyota World of Lakewood. Toyota knows how to treat customers which made it easy to buy this Camry!

Very quiet car - 2002 Toyota Camry
By bliss - November 7 - 10:00 amI have been extremely impressed with how quiet the car is. On rough roads as with all cars that I have driven road noise increases. On smooth roads this car is as quiet as any car on the road- no engine noise even at 80mph. having driven the 2002 Nissan altima and the VW passat the toyota is clearly the most quiet car. The interior trim is much more refined than the Nissan. The new 4 cly. engine is smooth and refined. All in All a great car!

6 yrs old and flawless - 2002 Toyota Camry
By Graco Guy - October 21 - 9:43 pmBought this new in 2002 and it has been fine. Not a high performance vehicle with the 4cyl, but great road car and commuter. Have had not one single problem in 68,000 miles. Get about 32 mpg on the highway, and close to that on my commute mix. Very solid car, but not exciting to drive for me. Im thinking Acura TSX or RL next time.

Its a keeper - 2002 Toyota Camry
By pat - October 12 - 1:10 pmOur toyota camry was the first foreign? car to come into our household. it wont be the last. My husband is so impressed by the workmanship and reliability. The only negative was the tires that came on it new. They only lasted about 12,000 miles. Not enough for our sedate type of driving. We replaced them with michelins and have had no further problems.

Stripped Pistons - 2002 Toyota Camry
By not happy - September 26 - 4:10 amI have been driving my Camry for 6 years. Very few issues until i hit 90k miles. My check engine light was on due to engine issue. Dealership said no big deal EVAP system not an issue. I had the whole engine drained and cleaned. 50 miles later, BING, light on. I took it to an independent service provider and they told me something is not right. Then at 130k miles, the engine pistons shoot through the casing into the combustion chamber. That could have easily started an oil fire that would have sparked into the gas chamber. The mechanic said Toyota has a serious engine design problem. Google Toyota engine issues, it is not an isolated issue. Toyota is waiting for another blow.
