Overview & Reviews
One of America's favorite cars is all new this year. Design goals for the 2002 Toyota Camry included larger interior packaging, reduced noise, more advanced safety features, better driving dynamics and, of course, a new standard of value.
- Roomy, powerful engines, plenty of safety and luxury features.
- High prices for XLE, costly premium features.

Best car I ever owned - 2002 Toyota Camry
By Larry - May 30 - 11:56 pmBought this car new 2002. I still drive it every day . The car looks great for the year and miles that I’ve put on it. Has no rust just a few parking lot dings. Everything still works great uses a little oil. The actual miles on the car is 460,000 miles and it is on the road every day. By far the best car I’ve ever had!!!

Camry, great commuter, not much else - 2002 Toyota Camry
By Su lee - September 29 - 7:26 pmGreat commuter, but not much else. Surprised and disappointed at the blue book value of the car. Lower resale value than our older civic with manual Windows.

Vanilla is Good - 2002 Toyota Camry
By mohusker - July 4 - 7:30 pm"Bland, vanilla, appliance"...yup, and just the way we like it. The Camry LE provides excellent value, dependability, fit & finish and quality of soft-touch materials. It is quiet and roomy while delivering 500 miles per tankful. The highway ride is composed with an honest 32 highway miles per gallon from the responsive and sophisticated four- banger. Mid-level LE includes power drivers chair and outside temperature display. My only gripe is a recent dash rattle.

02 Camry....not too thrilling - 2002 Toyota Camry
By Goob - May 13 - 10:00 amWe purchased the 02 Camry to replace the 96 which started to have problems and was getting older. We typically keep our cars until around 100k. I always go with a used car off a lease as we save big $$. We loved the 96 and it drove so nice and smooth, it was no thought to look at another make as my wife really liked it. The quality of the 02 is no way as good as the 96. The materials on the inside are cheap feeling and already show wear after 25k miles of use. We take very good care of our cars so it is not from abuse. the brakes are AWFUL. Toyota shoule be ashamed of itself.

2002 XLE 4 Cyl w/ Pkg. 8+ - 2002 Toyota Camry
By wmagon - April 9 - 10:00 amI just purchased the 2002 Camry XLE with Pkg. 8 plus heated seats and curtain airbags. I believe Toyota did their homework on this one and nailed the design (near perfect).

paint chips - 2002 Toyota Camry
By jmh1 - February 27 - 2:00 amIn addition to many minor problems that were fixed by the dealer (fuel pump, loose shield under car) this car has so many paint chips and flakes that the paint job must be defective.

First Year Blues? - 2002 Toyota Camry
By John - February 12 - 11:16 amI have had problems with the transmission not shifting into overdrive when the temp gets below 32 degrees. Dealer says its "NORMAL"). Also the front passengers inside door handle broke in half!(It was fixed under warranty).
