Overview & Reviews
One of America's favorite cars is all new this year. Design goals for the 2002 Toyota Camry included larger interior packaging, reduced noise, more advanced safety features, better driving dynamics and, of course, a new standard of value.
- Roomy, powerful engines, plenty of safety and luxury features.
- High prices for XLE, costly premium features.

3RD generation sucess - 2002 Toyota Camry
By camry lover - July 9 - 10:00 amI never considered anything else.No one has the rock solid reliabilty. Having a 96 and a 99 the improvements are great. Its like they fixed everything I did not like about the earlier models. Auto door locks, auto headlamps, modest power, little rear leg room, cheap sounding horn, uncomfortable seats and poor radio. The car is perfect.

Vanilla is Good - 2002 Toyota Camry
By mohusker - July 4 - 7:30 pm"Bland, vanilla, appliance"...yup, and just the way we like it. The Camry LE provides excellent value, dependability, fit & finish and quality of soft-touch materials. It is quiet and roomy while delivering 500 miles per tankful. The highway ride is composed with an honest 32 highway miles per gallon from the responsive and sophisticated four- banger. Mid-level LE includes power drivers chair and outside temperature display. My only gripe is a recent dash rattle.

Great Car - 2002 Toyota Camry
By jafirm - May 29 - 9:40 amFun to drive; however, I had a rattle noise in the dash. After the second attempt by the dealer, they finally fixed it. It was a loose heat shield. It is now fixed. If this happens to you, ask the dealer about a Technical Service Bulletin from Toyota dated Jan. 18, 2002 to help solve the problem. Also, could use a little more thigh support in the front drivers seat; otherwise, a great vehicle!

By Marine 0311 - May 22 - 10:00 amWe cant believe the room. I wish I had purchased one a long time ago. Fast pick up for a 2.4, I thought it was a 6c when we rented one for vacation.

02 Camry....not too thrilling - 2002 Toyota Camry
By Goob - May 13 - 10:00 amWe purchased the 02 Camry to replace the 96 which started to have problems and was getting older. We typically keep our cars until around 100k. I always go with a used car off a lease as we save big $$. We loved the 96 and it drove so nice and smooth, it was no thought to look at another make as my wife really liked it. The quality of the 02 is no way as good as the 96. The materials on the inside are cheap feeling and already show wear after 25k miles of use. We take very good care of our cars so it is not from abuse. the brakes are AWFUL. Toyota shoule be ashamed of itself.

2002 XLE 4 Cyl w/ Pkg. 8+ - 2002 Toyota Camry
By wmagon - April 9 - 10:00 amI just purchased the 2002 Camry XLE with Pkg. 8 plus heated seats and curtain airbags. I believe Toyota did their homework on this one and nailed the design (near perfect).

Dollar for Dollar - Worlds Best! - 2002 Toyota Camry
By Kevin Demeter - March 22 - 7:30 amYou want speed? The car will do 130 mph all day, all night guaranteed by Toyota. You want quiet? Be careful because you might turn the ignition key while the engine is running because you CANT hear it. You want value? Just talk to any Toyota Camry owner. The reason it is so hard to find used Camrys is because nobody will trade it in for any reason. You want comfort? My own son parked cars for summers at a hotel and said: "They took the Lexus design and no car matches the Camry for interior comfort. Not at that price, anyway." I could rave all day but I asked a mechanic - "Which is better, Lexus 300 or Camry?" "Theyre the same car - I cant tell, the Camry is so good."

paint chips - 2002 Toyota Camry
By jmh1 - February 27 - 2:00 amIn addition to many minor problems that were fixed by the dealer (fuel pump, loose shield under car) this car has so many paint chips and flakes that the paint job must be defective.

Dont buy it - 2002 Toyota Camry
By Beachbum - February 18 - 11:36 amIt is extremely difficult to find a comfortable driving position. Blind spots are huge. You get neck strain trying to make sure there are no cars around you. Acceleration is slow and the wind plays with it like a kite. This is a car that is just no fun to drive. I feel very unsafe. It is very little car for much too much money. The controls are very difficult to get to. Dont buy it!!!!!!

By michaelg - February 13 - 2:00 ammine is japanese.seem to have less rattles than others.reliable except for a tracking problem on the highway especially in a cross wind;still working on this with the dealer. posible the cheap potenzas are at fault; theyre also noisy and wear poorly.
