4Runner owners little secret. - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By SR5 - November 4 - 4:06 amIve never owned a vehicle that has the kick in the pants go-power this SUV has. No, I do not own the V-8 version either. Even with my sometimes Lead Foot I still get an average of 18 mpg. I hated the look of it when it first showed up at the dealers, now Ive taken to it. It will go anywhere my old Explorer would go and more. Just as comfortable and inside everything is put just where ya need it. Great Toyota quality, and dependability too! My only con is the ride could be be smoother, but it is an SUV. (and Im pretty hard on this vehicle.)

So Far So Good - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By JJPC - September 30 - 10:00 amJust brought our 4Runner home a short while ago but the test drives and initial week or two of driving have been impressive. Went to buy a Mercedes ML430 or similar upscale vehicle but resale values, reliablility ratings, and features for the dollar made the 4Runner the best deal.

2004 Toyota 4Runner - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By Nick_2453 - July 24 - 11:20 amWell, even though it is time to trade in, I loved my 4runner. I would keep it forever, but the trade in is too much money to trade in our other car. This car is amazing! I bought it new, and its ride is amazing! The design is literally awesome, and I really like the reliability. I am not too fond of the fuel economy (about 16 and 20, city-highway), but who doesnt expect that or worse for an SUV. I recommend getting one with a third seat!

60k Report - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By NHSkier - May 15 - 1:46 pmI bought this almost 5 years before entering the Army. I now have 61k on it. Its been across the country four times (packed to the hilt with gear), over Hoosier Pass in a Colorado blizzard twice, offroad in CO and AZ. In that time, the only major repair happened at the 60k mark, a bad emissions sensor - $450. I had to also replace a cracked windshield, but I dont consider that the fault of the automaker. There are some minor cosmetic wear and tear issues. The "chrome" finish on the stick column is wearing off. The cover to the seat clamps (where they meet the floor) fell off. All in all, I would have been hard pressed to find anything else as reliable with the same capabilities.

8000 miles and its still good - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By Bouch - April 10 - 2:00 amI bought teh 4Runeer anfter much research and largely based on what other consumers said in the is site. The experience so far has been pretty good. The 4Runner is fun to drive and it looks good. I towed a 2500 lb trailer 5300 miles. I averaged 9 mpg towing the trailer at 75mph. I get ~20 without the trailer. Id buy it again.

Reliability&Performance meet Good looks - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By waldyg - January 15 - 2:00 amWhat an amazing SUV. Im surprised at how Toyota went ahead and perfected even more an SUV that was already one of the most reliable ones in the market today. Its even better, stronger more dependable and comfortable and best looks outhere. You know youre in a big SUV.Excellent handling the controls are so smartly layed out you dont have to look around much to figure them out, especially the A/C its all very simple to adjust and operate, I enjoyed the information panel where you can see outside temperature and miles to empty displayed and the light orange color dashboard is appealing and soothing to the eye. Way to go Toyota.

Pretty much what I expected - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
By danturner1 - January 15 - 2:00 amI purchased the 4 Runner after winning a lemon law claim against Audi. All wheel drive was a premium, but I was hesitant to get a SUV because of the gas mileage. So far Ive been happy with the performance. The 4-Runner is fun to drive, easy to drive and very reliable. Although Toyota says 18 mpg on the highway I can get about 20 depending on the conditions. The interior is below average, compared to the Audi A4 (which is exceptional). One last thing, getting around in bad weather is easy, but the Audi was more stable. Ive also had no mechanical problems which is important to me following the Audi problems.
