  • Best Vehicle Ive Owned - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

This was the first Toyota Ive owned. This vehicle has completely sold me on Toyota build quality and mechanical reliability. 62K on it now and weve never experienced a mechanical problem. The 6 is plenty powerful (23 mpg) and the thing rides as comfortably as a car. Fun to drive? I wouldnt go that far, but it is very comfortable. The quality of the interior materials is first-rate. Im not fond of the exterior styling and the paint on our 4Runner has been poor from day one. This surprised me, considering the quality workmanship elsewhere.

I initally looked at buying the Lexus GX470. Its a great SUV but the dealership could not locate the color and options that I was looking for. So I decided to check out the Toyota 4 Runner because it is basicly the same vehicle. When I found the exact 4 Runner I was looking for I took it for a test drive. I was very impressed with the quality and the ride of the vehicle. I bought the 4Runner & had it fully loaded with all the options and accessories. It is as nice to drive if not better than the GX470 and is about $8,000.00 - $10,000.00 less. A great deal for the money!

Very impressive SUV. Makes the old body style feel like a Tercel. No more body roll, and allot less wind and road noise. If you drive an 04 you will never drive the old body style again! Rides and handles excellent. Seems to be priced high to there competition, but hopefully it will hold value well. Sold an 02 Yukon for this, and so far it is just as good, just a little smaller.

  • Not very happy - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Had a 1990 toyota 4Runner, was an outstanding vehicle. Just anouther one this past week. Very unhappy with the over all unit. Seems basic safety has taken a back seat. Also found problems with paint on vehicle with in first mile, and returned to dealership, and was turned away, vehicle had left the lot, they will no longer honnor any problems, you must inspect vehicle before leaving lot or they do not seem to care. Also have raddles in head liner, they seem to need several days to get it in to attempt to fix the problem.

Overall, this is a great vehicle. Powerful, reliable, dependable, and is the perfect size. I am a volunteer firefighter and was looking for something bigger to fit my gear, plus have enough room for other things. This was the perfect fit.

  • 224k (12-2-2011) on Clock and the engine still running like new. - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Best value for the mid SUV class. This car would not give any troubles if following all the maintenance schedules.(including O2 sensors and fuel injector cleaner and drive belt every 100K). :) Never call roadside assistance again after purchased this vehicle.

  • Major Disappointment - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I am extremely disappointed that when you let the rear seats down to utilize all of the rear cargo space, you have to slide the front seats forward to make room. I am 61" tall and this situation makes it very uncomfortable to drive. The Highlander I traded for this auto was much more satisfactory. Had I known this deficiency existed in the 4Runner, I would still own my Highlander.

  • Straightforward Toyota - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

This has been an excellent car so far. I bought it with 40k on it, and I have 56k on it now, and it has had no problems whatsoever. I just do my routine maintenance and it keeps going every time I need it. It is like any Toyota: not exciting in any way, but it does the job without any problems.
