Excellent vehicle. Good looking, fun to drive, reliable, excellent in snow, sand, & mud. Well built. Gets better gas mileage than some smaller vehicles.

  • Bargain at this price - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I just cant believe that for under $28k I drove off with a real 4x4 (ladder frame, coil springs, locking diff, 17" wheels, 4-Low, etc) third row seats for little kids, lots of power, convienience and safety features, and Toyota quality. I see people spending that much for Subarus and much more for Pilots and Volvo XCVs and RX-330s and quite frankly they dont really offer anything in comparison to this vehicle. They cant tow, the cant do real off-road, and they just arent as strong of a vehicle. It gets better mileage than our RX-300 did and blows it away in acceleration. We live in Colorado and every now and then we go down some rutted, rocky road and this thing gobbles it up.

A great mid-size SUV. What Land Rover Discovery wants to be. Fun to drive. Easy to handle. Every thing is reachable and eaasy to use. When I want to go, it goes where ever when ever no problem. Worth every penny.

  • Love my 4Runner so far! - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Ive had my 4Runner a month now, and couldnt be more pleased. Im 61" and have plenty of room. Lots of room for the family too. The vehicle feels very solid. Handles well, nice pickup, lots of special touches. This is my first Totoya, and quality is evident everywhere I look. Only negative is the mileage. Im only getting 15 mph on average while I expected 18-21 per mfg info.

Styling took some time to get used to. The towing capacity is great and you cannot beat the engine. Compare the interior quality fit & finish to most other comparable suvs (save the MDX) and you understand the price tag.

  • just a few little things - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

all in all a great suv I bought this to replace my Toyota Tundra. This has more room and we are expecting our second child. Everything is great the all time 4 wheel drive is amazing in the snow. a couple of small complaints is that there is only 1 outlet for your phone charger the Tundra had 3 so maybe Im just spoiled. The other compalint is the gas door is very close to the hood latch and they feel the same so i sometimes pop the hood when all I want to do is pop the gas cap door. the build is execptional a nice solid ride. I would recommend this to anyone that is looking for a great suv.

  • We love it - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

we leased a 04 SR5 4WD 4runner and my wife and i just love it. we miss the low end torque of our 00 tundra but our 4runner is so much smoother and quieter than our previous truck. great space and lots of legroom in the back. get the sr5 instead of the limited and youll save thousands.

  • Base model great value - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Best value for the money. I bought the base model 4wd SR5 which comes with a full line of standard options. I added leather and still walked out under 28,000. I couldnt see spending 7000 for the limited upgrades.

  • Great truck - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I bought mine in Nov 2002, one of the first ones. Have done 20000 miles already and a number of off road trails. Very capable on and off road. Comfy, although some headroom and rear foot room would help, Im 63". Great ride and great engine and transmission combo. Very solid and reliable. Had minor issues which was resolved, believe it is now resolved with later vehicles. Vehicle is great, dealer support lacking compared to BMW and Volvo which we had before. I want to see how all these fancy SUVs (VW, Porsche??, MBZ, BMW, etc) hold up after being really used off road. Explorer, etc does not even compare.

2004 low tire pressure indicator came on. Pressures checked 34-35 lbs. Called dealer service department. Following his directions, the indicator did NOT reset. The owners manual says system checks spare tire as well as the others. Another Toyota dealer said this was the 2nd 2004 4Runner they had seen with this problem. Explanation: tires are aired to 60 lbs. at the factory. Dealer make ready did NOT check the spare. The low tire pressure system also checks for HIGH tire pressure and/or pressure difference between the tires. To reset the indicator, hit the ODO/TRIP button until the mileage indicates, then hit RESET.
