I have had my truck for a year. I love this truck, but have had it in the shop 3 times for front end noise. The technition can never duplicate the offending sound and therefore can never fix it. Strangely enough, when I come in for a ride with the technition the sound is gone. Talk about shady. My stereo is being replaced Thursday for a constant Error1 signal, and my sunroof has an intermittant problem. But for all the irritations, I love my truck!

  • Traded in my lemon after just 1 year - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

I was in the market to buy my first new car and wanted something with an excellent track record. I got a lemon. In the 11 months I owned it, the dealership had it for nearly 6 weeks. Everything was covered under warranty except that so many problems is unacceptable. Major issues like the vehicle dynamic stability function kicking on and off making safe driving impossible and the exhaust leaking inside the cabin (never able to fix). And LOTS of little things broke from the sun roof staying open (big problem in Boston), to the rear roll up window, to the gas cap release lever severed (stuck out on a trip with no way to fill up and not nearly gas enough to get home), even the stereo broke.

  • V8 run like wind....... and you hear it - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Bought because of midsize and solid reputation. My wife loves it and I hate it.V8 engine will get you there in a hurry but to me the car is uncomfortable to drive.Fuel mileage is not all that great either.Worst thing Ive found about the car is the wind noise from the roof racks.I took the cross bars off and it helped a little.HVAC is awkward to use while driving

  • Very versatile - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Excellent reliability and versatility. This car is a great daily commuter but can also haul and off-road with zero problems. No mechanical issues after 80,000 miles.

  • Love My Truck! - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

I love my Truck! I went from a Honda CRV to a 4 Runner and the difference is huge. It is bigger inside and has lots more power. Would never go back to anything smaller again.

  • Traded in JGC for a V6 SR5 - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Had a JGC 5.2L AWD with reliability problems but otherwise OK experience. Traded it in for a new 04 SR5. Compared with the Jeep, it is much more refined, but engin is a bit wimpy. I am suprised by the 0-60 of 8.2s results on the V6 4Rnr. With 1500 miles, so far no big problems. But there are several things that should not have been there: (1) steering wheel felt a bit shaking at 65mph, not consistently present. (2) Plastic casing for the RoofRack that contains the joint to the roof was NOT snapped in => had to snap in myself. (3) Wind noises are a bit more than I expected, there is some hint of hi- pitch wind whistling from pass window, Have not decided to take to the dealers yet.

  • My truck - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

Bought this SUV Thanksgiving weekend. It was great for this years snowstorms in NYC. I was glad to upgrade from my reliable Camry to this truck. The gas mileage is horrible but you should expect that with any SUV of this size. Ive gotten 2 cracks in the windshield already from driving on the highway this winter. I dont know if it is the angle of the windshield or the highway road conditions in NJ or what. Maybe the angle of the windshield? Maybe just bad luck? This happened within the first 1500 miles. Overall the SUV handles very well. It can make quick U-turns and it is very responsive.

  • Ltd. V8 4Runner - 2004 Toyota 4Runner

Been very happy with the 4Runner. Bought it due to the V8 for towing our travel trailer. The motor is excellent in general, temp. gauge doesnt even move going up steep, long passes in 100+ (40+Celsius) pulling our 4500# travel trailer. The only complaint I have is that it is slightly lacking in power to pull our trailer in windy, open environments. Seems like I need to keep the tranny in 3rd to go up any slight incline or against strong winds. Otherwise its been an excellent truck. Wish it came with 4.10 gears rather than 3.73; would most likely solve the underpowered issue but unfortunately decrease fuel economy. Generally excellent truck that I would recommend to anyone.

  • The best investment in my life! - 2004 Toyota 4Runner
    By -

With the 2004 Toyota 4Runner, I have been remarked into a new world, it discarded me from my everyday worries during my drive, yet I feel noticed, and believe me, that feels great. I like how I really enjoy my 4Runner. I call it my best friend, I even talk to my 4Runner! I think that is you were ever to purchase this car, you would feel the same too, or even better. I really like the spacious, and size of my truck. I think that Toyota did well on the 4Runner, and I also have an older model, a 1993 Toyota 4Runner SR% V6 3.0litre, and even that was a great design! I really like my Toyotas, theve really tooken me places in such a way that I couldnt even explain it in words. Its the greatest!!!!
