This Year's Model Updates:

The new model year brings freshened exterior styling to the C-Class. A new dash, redesigned seats and tweaked trim pieces help to polish the interior up a bit, as well. A new audio system with six speakers and a CD player is standard across the board. Further updates include an improved short-throw six-speed manual transmission and revised suspension tuning. A DVD-based navigation system is newly available, while the C320 wagon has been discontinued. The complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, three body styles to choose from, pleasing power from top V6 engine.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, ordinary cabin furnishings, small backseat.

A very together car. Sharp looking, with a very silky smooth engine and transmission. Gobs of torque that comes on low in the power band. I thought I’d miss a clutch but now prefer the speedshift. Not as good as the Ferrari’s but better then Porsche. The C55 has a clean interior with great ergonomics. I tested the CTS-V, its cheap interior, confusing shifter, and wheel hop means it’s still a work in progress. I also tested the M3/M5.The M3 too small, becoming outdated. The M5(02-03)nice but a bit heavy in the handling, however nicer rear seating then the C55. All 3 Germans have great engines though. Tried the S4, not a fan of AWD and the styling is just ok. Interior is comparable to the C55.

Excellent driving pleasure with pleasing exteriors. Responds to control very well. Superior acoustics and a 6 change CD player make driving fun. Besides, the dealership is excellent with tremendous post sales follow up. In fact, that was the major deciding factor as the Lexus and BMW salespersons were so lacklustre in their sales pitch that I was apprehensive if they would have any post-sales interest in me at all. However, still feel I was slightly overcharged for the car so go with the invoice and dont budge while bargaining.

My 2005 MB c230 Kompressor so far has been a pretty big disappointment. It only has 16K on it and Ive already had to buy three (3) sets of tires. It chews them up like cheap candy. The dealer has done 2 alignments already and multiple tire balances. The road noise is horrific after only a few thousand miles on each new set. The dealer has NOT been helpful. I try to drive as conservatively as possible but it still chews the tires up. Im considering going back to a BMW. The MB is a nice car but I cant afford to keep buying tires like this. My dealer has been ZERO help. MB has not returned my calls or letters. Guess its time for an attorney. Buyer Beware.

Great car but few problems since I bought the car. Engine is excellent. Interior leather is not of a good quality especially arm rest and center console-peeling. Other small problems such as sensors malfunctions.

This is the most fun car to drive that I have ever owned. All the bells and whistles anyone could ask for. It hugs the road in turns and acceleration in this 4cyl. engine is excellent

Ive had a 2005 C230 Sport Sedan for 2 years now and love the car. With the AMG styling and upgrades the sport sedan has its a real head turner. I have had zero problems with the car and I drive it about 30000 miles a year. Ive only brought it in for scheduled maintanence and had a couple recall problems fixed. Id buy this car again and would recommend it to anyone. My friend has a BMW 325xi and my Benz is much more fun to drive

From the drive away from the dealer, we have enjoyed every moment. We were Toyota Camry fans but now there is no way we would give up our MB.

I literally walked into the dealer to pick up a new 2004 but someone got mine! So a week later I got a new 2005 right off the truck. Wow, I love this car and the interior and performance updates that seem minor on paper make for a completely different ride. Just a great package. Refined, responsible, fun, comfortable, zippy. I drove the BMW 3 series and the Audi A4 but just fell in love with this one right away. Dont be consumed by Mercedes shy reviewers that focus on too many specs. My advice. Drive it. Although, they have discontinued the Coupe (I was lucky to get the 2005) Try the sedan. Even Dad is impressed... He has a 500 S Class - Were always competing!
