This Year's Model Updates:

The new model year brings freshened exterior styling to the C-Class. A new dash, redesigned seats and tweaked trim pieces help to polish the interior up a bit, as well. A new audio system with six speakers and a CD player is standard across the board. Further updates include an improved short-throw six-speed manual transmission and revised suspension tuning. A DVD-based navigation system is newly available, while the C320 wagon has been discontinued. The complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, three body styles to choose from, pleasing power from top V6 engine.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, ordinary cabin furnishings, small backseat.

  • Great Road Trip Car - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

We were looking for a midsize wagon, the C-Class was the right size for our needs, the 05 changes to both interior (big improvement to the tach and speedo layout),and exterior (wheels and body work) make this one of the best looking wagons on the market. The ride is comfortable, but firm enough for good handling and control at speed through turns.

  • A Great "Baby Benz" - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

It has the crisp, tight, precise driving that one can only enjoy from a Mercedes Benz. I have owned many bigger and more powerful Mercedes, yet the C230 Kompressor is an absolute pleasure to drive. Its quick, responsive, and still gives the driver the confidence of a well built, secure vehicle.

This car is fun to drive as the power is incredible. acceleration and handling excellent. drawbacks are the car rides stiff and rough due to the low profile tires. the tiptronic sometimes downshifts by itself and the integrated phone system is not very good.

  • Love it , But...... - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I am very impressed by the performance and gas mileage. The 4matic is AWESOME on snowy roads. Interior is quiet, but shoulder room is a little close, and Im not a very big guy. Center dash controls are a little complicated, but the steering wheel controls work well and are very convenient and add an element of safety. This is my third M- B, and the overall quality seems consistant with previous models, but certain areas have gone down. The stereo/system display looks cheap and borrowed from a Chrylser "sister". Ive had more mechanical issues with this one than previous models as well. There is a pesky leak of some kind that the dealer has trouble finding. Overall the car is not readily distinguishable from the growing competition, and the premium sticker is getting harder to justify.

  • Great fun little toy, enjoy - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

It was a bumpy ride at first. I bought a dealer/loaner C230k from the dealership. That said, Ive only had one problem with it, a blown oil line which leaked all over my garage. The maintenance is kind of costly, but it is the best auto Ive ever driven. Ive driven a lot cars around the world (Military). If you want a fun car this is it. Fast on the draw and will suprise you how quick it is. Sometimes it does sputters when moving at slow speeds on the highwqy trying to dodge in and out of traffic.

  • Wouldnt Buy Another MB - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I have had the C230K since 10/2004 and there have been problems non stop. Brakes squealing all the time, replaced twice. There is very ittle gas pedal room. Handles not even close to an Audi or BMW. Horrible traction in a little snow or rain. Loud engine noise. the only things great about this car are the gas mileage and style. Customer service is very poor and watch out for the salesmen on telling you that this car is fully covered. That standard option end in 2004. Now you have to pay for this bumper to bumper option. Things changed for the worse after the merger with Chrysler. Bottom line, last MB I will ever recommend or buy.

Bought this car about 3 months ago used with 37k miles from the 2nd owner. Its what you expect from a german car, tight and solid but yet refined while hugging the road like a sports car. The ride is perfect, not harsh and not too loose like other non AMG models. The engine roars you through the rpm range and makes a great sound. The car is plenty quick, but it would be a monster with the 5.4 Supercharged version found in the E55

  • Problems encountered at 3,070 mi - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

I cant complain much about the performance of this entry-level-luxury Benz. Though it has a weak V6(168hp), its still FUN to drive. At 3,070 miles today, Im taking my car to the dealer because of the SRS MULFUNCTION and a stereo system sound problem - sound was distorted last week, both radio & CD. Yesterday, there was no sound coming out at all -and i got the "entertainment package". But its the SRS problem Im worried about. Its a safety issue, and I still have to drive all the way to the dealer (without aibags and safety measure devices)

  • My present ride - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class
    By -

This car is most enjoyable. While there are some detractors, the flat four with supercharger is a nice plant. I have pushed 35 mpg on the highway at somewhere above 70 mph. The car shifts very smoothly and cleanly. A very nice car.

A very cute and aggressive looking car, with MB AMG appreance. Interior is a little bit tight inside, but its a small car. So far so good with out any problems. Gas mileage is about 22mpg.
