This Year's Model Updates:

The new model year brings freshened exterior styling to the C-Class. A new dash, redesigned seats and tweaked trim pieces help to polish the interior up a bit, as well. A new audio system with six speakers and a CD player is standard across the board. Further updates include an improved short-throw six-speed manual transmission and revised suspension tuning. A DVD-based navigation system is newly available, while the C320 wagon has been discontinued. The complimentary scheduled maintenance program has been dropped for 2005.

Pros:
  • State-of-the-art safety and luxury features, three body styles to choose from, pleasing power from top V6 engine.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, ordinary cabin furnishings, small backseat.

  • Awesome car... - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I test drove the BMW 3 series, Lexus IS300, and the Acura TL and none could compare to the overall package. This car has the right balance of luxury and sport. The car drives like a dream and the new 2005 updates make the car flawless. The 189 hp drives like a 6 cylinder and the car gives you awesome gas mileage. This car was well worth the wait, I had to order my car so it took me almost 3 months to get my baby. The Mercedes feel and quality is by far unmatched. Even driving at 130 mph the car is so silent and smooth. The brakes are awesome other than the frequent brake dust, but the rims are so easy to clean.

I have had my C230 for a year now with no trouble. The performance has been enhanced by the addition of a K&N air filter. This simple install has given me a little more low end power and much better gas mileage. I am getting 32 MPG very easily. For the money I do not know how you could do much better. Had an Audi A4 3.0Q and like the Benz much better.

Everything runs excellent. Winter snow tires are the only problem Ive encountered. The 05 model need a wider wheel for the front tires, for that reason, I added the spacer for the front wheel snow tires.

  • A beautifully smooth ride! - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Perhaps its the Michelin tires on the car, but this has to be one of the smoothest riding cars we have owned. The only drawback, if you want to call it that, is the acceleration. Once its moving though, its easy to find yourself doing 90. For comparative purposes I drove the sedan, and the two ride completely different. I cant see spending another $20,000 to get the E class wagon, simply to get more speed. I doubt it could be more comfortable that this one. The gas mileage is good and will only improve once its broken in.

She is sporty. She is safe, and she is the best car I have ever owned. I love the silver in front. My seats are comfortable and I believe she drives herself. I have never been happier.

  • The "Poor-Mans" Mercedes is Gold - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

Drivers seat is hard to get in and out of because of a low seat and cramped cockpit, right leg annoyingly rests against center console but I eventually got used to it. Transmission went after one year due to "metal shavings" Still not quite sure what that means, but Mercedes replaced it under warranty and gave me an E-Class sedan to drive while it was being repaired, as theyve done for all my service check-ups as well. The steering wheel controls, which offer menu options to change settings on the vehicle, are overly complicated and require too much time to learn that I, or any other working husband and father, has time to learn. I still have trouble with those menus. Truly compared to the BMW 3-series I tested this car is gold. The engine sound is truly invigorating. The back seat is a little small but my kids fit fine and the trunk is spacious. Very intuitive design and very safe. The car has a luxury feel for an affordable price and I would highly reccomend it.

  • What a beast! - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

What a car...If you want unbelievable performance and the highest quality small sports sedan, this is it! Driving down the road is a unique experience, a "wolf in sheeps clothing"! Those who know about this rocket burner give you an unsolicited thumbs up! Those who dont know about this car just stare at it wondering if it is "something new". But it can be quite tame around town, kind of a duel personality! Ive driven them all... BMWs, Audis, other Mercedes, This one drives with an edge rarely seen in a production car. What do you expect? The engine is hand built. The others dont offer that!

  • Looks great, but quality could be better - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

I love how my C230 looks inside and out! However, it is slow and I have had it in the shop for issues w/ tail lights, brakes, amplifier (twice), driver seat motor bad, steering column motor bad. Total of 6 times that were unscheduled maint. I plan to buy a BMW next.

  • Great Ride - 2005 Mercedes-Benz C-Class

My first MB and certainly not my last. What a blast to drive. Fun is only a down shift away, blow by anyone on the highway no problem, gaps in traffic just seem to open up for you like moses and the red sea. Fuel economy is fantastic, 28mpg at 90 mph, 30mpg at 70, 32mpg at 60; cant beat that, its ridiculous. Watch out for cops tho, this is a dangerous car, can do 90 without even realizing it. The sound of the engine is music to my ears, I put the radio on mute (which sounds great as well) just to listen to it when accelerating.
