Overview & Reviews
Jaguar beefs up its presence in the luxury category with the X-Type, a brand-new model that brings the company's range to four. The X-Type is a fresh breed of cat for the manufacturer: it's Jaguar's first-ever all-wheel-drive vehicle, and it's priced to tap the entry-luxury segment.
- Reasonable pricing, sporty handling, currently the only Jaguar available with a manual tranny.
- Spartan interior design, some less-than-prestigious Ford-themed switchgear and exterior styling cues, price goes up with options faster than you can say "Ford Mondeo."

No regrets - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By Tommy D - February 25 - 10:00 amPicked up my BRG 2.5L car just 2 wks ago, put 1K mi on already... I never test-drove the 3.0L... why be tempted by $5,000 option when base engine gives more performance than one can truly appreciate in normal situations? A fantastic car in all respects... if you are looking at this car, spring for premium and sport packages... AWD and sport mode are incredible combination... Took a trip on back roads through coast range in NW Oregon... like riding on rails through "25 mph" curves at 50+... Quiet, quick, good gas mileage even when pushing it hard... will post a new note after Ive hit a few thousand miles.

Baby, its cold outside - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By etherjag - December 8 - 10:00 amI love driving my new jag. Having come up from a taurus sho, it handles better, has better performance and is a joy. My biggest complaint however, is the low outside temperature message that comes on each and every time I turn on the car, and wont go away until I hit reset. For goodness sake, I live in Michigan, I know its cold in January.

Hit Or Miss Car - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By acg042000 - November 30 - 3:46 amI have owned 2 3.0 Liter X Types. One was great, only a few minor problems in 2 years. This sport model I have now is a lemon. Constant new noises, died 2 times for who knows what, and has probably been in the shop 10 times for maintenance. Good thing I have a warranty. To top it off, the car loses its value faster than anything Ive seen on this planet. All European cars are finicky, its really hit or miss. If you want these cars, get a warranty.

ALL-WHEEL DRIVE JAGUAR ! - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By 1STJAG - October 7 - 2:00 am***** THIS IS THE PERFECT JAGUAR FOR SOMEONE LIVING IN THE NORTHEAST OR SNOW BELTS ***** All Wheel Drive is just awesome. Great control in first few snow storms. 2.5 6 cyl performs pretty much the way it should w/hp. This vehicle is equipped with all premium & sport packages. This loads the JAG right up. No squeeks or rattles. Fit & finish is great. Trunk is usable especially with folding rear seats. Leather heated seats are superb. Automatic transmission shifts smooth. Traction/stability control adds to vehicle alot. I would highly recommend. Great road feel. This JAG performs for the money.

X-Type is "All that AND more" - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By TommyE - September 22 - 7:06 amHavent had mine too long but love it completely. It replaces a 18 year old Acura. Gets better mileage (avg. 21 city) is absolutely stunning to look at and turns heads everywhere I go. This isnt just an automobile, its rolling artwork. When I showed it to my friends the most heard thing they say is, "Oh my god, its so beautiful!" This thing feeds my ego quite nicely. I cant image any other car making me happier. I am very very satisfed.

THIS IS THE ONE....! - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By NOAH KEATON JR. - September 2 - 10:00 amME WIFE AND I BOTH LOVE THE LOOK OF THE CAR , IF THERE WAS ONE WORD TO SAY HOW WE FEEL ABOUT THE JAGUAR X-TYPE IT WOULD BE "COOOOOOL".THE CAR IS FUN TO DRIVE WITH THE SPORT SHIFT AND THE RIDE IS VERY NICE EVEN ON LONG TRIPS.BUT THE ONE THING THAT WE BOTH LOVE IS THE LOOKS YOU GET WHEN YOUR FRIENDS AND OTHER POEPLE SEE YOU GETTING IN OR OUT OF THE CAR,AND THE LOOKS YOU GET WHEN YOU ARE DRIVING IT.WE HAVE NOTHING BUT GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT THE CAR AND THE DEALERSHIP THAT SOLD THE CAR TO US.WAY TO GO JAGUAR OF TAMPA.

True Blue but often Yellow - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By KCnHouston - August 8 - 11:30 amIt was the best of cars, it was the worst of cars. After almost 5 years I still love this car. But the fun of driving a X-Type Sport 2.5 quickly wore thin after returning the car for service and repairs more often than I can remember. I kept all of the records but I dont think that I will keep them in the car when I go to try to sell it because I dont want anyone to see how many times the car has needed repair.

X-Type is pure class and a solid value - 2002 Jaguar X-Type
By JagOwner - July 21 - 10:00 amPurchased my 2003 X-Type 2.5 5spd and it is an incredible car. Very solid build quality, no defects found yet (and Im very picky), and wonderful design features. It really stands out in a crowded market segment, and is not a "Me too" kind of car. I compared this car to many others, but none could compare in terms of functionality (AWD), style, standard equipment (connolly leather, maple wood trim), and price. Dealer treatment has been absolutely 1st rate. You would think I had paid $100K for the vehicle. Concerned about what youve heard about past Jaguars? Dont be. This new X is a force to be reckoned with. A lot of bang for the buck.
