Pros:
  • Highly versatile and roomy interior, stable handling, comfortable ride, good crash test scores standard airbags, ABS and stability control.
Cons:
  • Limited off-road ability, not as big inside as some of its competitors, no V6 option.

  • Great Drive Train, Poor Interior Design - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

If you want a SUV with good performance and dependability, this is the one you should get. However, if you cares much about internal design, then get another one. This SUV has great engine/trans. and drives smoothly. I dont want to offend any Honda fans here, but the internal design needs quite a lot improvements. The Antenna is old- fashioned, Gas Cap Release is hard to reach, Gear Shift blocks the radio control, Rear Door opens to wrong direction (learned that since it was originally designed for Japanese market), Rear Wiper misses a large area, No Central Console, narrow and deep door pocket makes little things hard to retrieve, Arm Rest is uncomfortable, Fuel Tank is too small ...

  • 2005EX AWD CRV 300 miles - 2005 Honda CR-V

This car is very roomy inside, and feels like it has a lot more room in the interior than it looks like it would have on the outside. The headlights are fantastic! There is a blind spot on the left side near the back tire that is very annoying, especially when trying to back out of a parking space. Wish the doors would automatically lock when you turn the ignition on like my old car. Gas mileage is horrible, but the car is still breaking in. On my old car, if the emergency break is on, it would not budge! This one, I actually drove 1/2 a block before realizing I left it on. I dont think I should be able to do that!

  • Great except drivers seat - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

Love this car except for comfort of drivers seat. It needs thigh support behind the knees and more adjustments. Am not sure if I would like to take a long drive in this due to leg discomfort. Great in snow, excellent safety features. Too many useless compartments, though. Visability is super. I would definately recommend this car to anyone who wants a small SUV.

  • CRV 2005 SE - 2005 Honda CR-V

Honda needs to reduce the road noise for this vehicle. Switch location is in poor placement too, for example the heated seat button is located in a location under the steering wheel where it can not be seen withpout taking your eyes off the road. Windshield angle should be looked at, have had ours replaced twice and were told its very common on these. It is a good reliable vehicle with pretty good mileage. We average 25-27 mpg. It does need a larger gas tank, 15.8 gallons doesnt cut it. On longer trips where the speed limit is 70 or 75 expect to be stopping to fill up every 4 hours.

  • LONG ISLAND , NY. DRIVER... - 2005 Honda CR-V

I previously owned the 2000 CR-V SE, and this current 2005 model I find to be a very great improvement over the 2000 year model. The interior is much quieter. I find the horsepower jump of 17 more horses to have made a significant improvement in acceleration from dead stop and demand for acceleration on the road at speed. I like the outside shape and the color I chose (pewter) actually more of a grey color. I enjoy the airbags all around the vehicle (standard and side curtains) and the vehicle ride has a more solid feel than the 2000. The handling is very tight and responsive. All in all I actually love this vehicle.Only time will tell the true story. Have about 2000 miles.

  • Tall drivers beware ! - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

After about a week of driving the car my right leg began to ache where the thigh and hip come together and it eventually became excruciating. I am tall, about 6 3" and noticed that my thighs were not resting on the seat cushion like they do in every other car I have owned or driven. Instead, they are sticking slightly off of the seat so my leg weight is on the pedals and hip joint. The problem is the seat cushion is nearly flat and not distinctly sloped backward as in other cars - a very poor ergonomic design by Honda. I have to drive the car with a folded towel under my leg to support it.

  • Bumpy ride - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

I bought the Honda based on its reputation. I was shocked to find, after riding it for a few days, how I feel every crack in the pavement, and I experience a very bumpy jarring ride. Why hasnt Honda paid attention to good shock absorbers and springs?? Is there anything I can do to get a smoother ride????? Better shocks??? Please advise. Other than the ride, I am pleased with the car. Also, if I go on a trip and travel at 60-70 mph I only get 23 mpg. Why???? My girlfriend bought the same car, but returned it to the dealer the next day because of the poor quality of the ride hurting her back.

  • Improvement - 2005 Honda CR-V

Overall OK, engine quiet smooth, but handling is average. Inside quiet comfortable. Brake and gas pedal too high. Braking is below average.

  • Worth it - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

This has been everything I hoped for: small SUV with tall storage/cargo, very good ground clearance, and tons of safety features. Its also easy for my 6 2" frame to get in and out of, and the flat floor front and rear is great. Fold down piece between front seats is handy. I agree that the black interior is a total pain to keep clean, and the CRV is certainly not to be confused with a smooth riding, good handling sedan--I have an Outback than is rock solid at 80. The CRV can feel a little loose after 70, especially with wind or if you need to do anything sudden. Beyond that, I have nothing but compliments and can confirm the 23/29 mileage that many others report.
