  • Not that great - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

I cant say this car breaks down a lot but it was cheaply made. I was borrowing my moms car for a while and I can say right off that my 1998 Chevy Blazer does way better than it. To start with its not that great in the snow. The four wheel drive does fine, but as far as the ABS goes, its terrible. ABS is supposed to keep a car from sliding in the snow, but this one, pfft, it slides anyway and instead this VSA thing they installed comes alive when its not supposed to which is supposed to help the car when its turning. The other thing about it is safety issues. The breaks arent great either, they dont stop as fast as other cars do. I mean if you live somewhere where there isnt a lot of snow, Im sure its not a bad car. It gets you from A to B doesnt have any horrible engine or tranny issues. But I wouldnt recommend it for snow country.

  • AC is a money pit - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

2004,2005,2006 AC units are so bad Honda had to settle a lawsuit regarding this piece of junk. Do not buy a used Honda CRV unless the AC unit has been replaced, it will cost you $1400.00 bucks to replace it. Eventually you will have to if you drive it over 50,000 miles that is about how long it will last.

  • A/C Compressor "Black Death" - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

I have been a victim of the A/C compressor defect, along with countless others. I have a 2005 CR-V, which had the first compressor go bad at 56,000 miles. I bought it new from Coral Springs Auto Mall in 08/05. In 05/08, the A/C system failed to blow cold air. I took it in and the dealer told me that the compressor "exploded" and shot filament through the whole system, hoses and all had to be replaced for 3200.00. I am a single mother, and could not afford that. I called my own personal mechanic, who told me that my compressor "locked up", brought it out, and showed me what happened and how it worked. He fixed it for 1300.00.

  • Disappointed Honda Owner - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

I bought a brand new 2005 Honda CRV EX Auto AWD after I had a Ford Expedition that constantly broke down. Wanted a reliable car, Unfortunately it hasnt been so great with 53,000 it is broken once again. Lived in all climates from humid in Georgia, snow in Maine and dry heat in California. My 93 Oldsmobile runs better, gets better gas mileage, and is more reliable. I had to replace tires, O2 switch, rotors, and now AC has called it quits. I do the oil changes and maint. on time yet it is sluggish, wont do hills and vinyl on the doors has ripped because back seat not wide enough for three car seats. Disgusted and disappointed in Honda. Dealer doesnt even carry the stock tires! That stinks.

  • Worst Car I have ever owned - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

Purchased new in Oct of 2005 and cant wait to get rid of it. VERY uncomfortable to drive any amount of time over 1.5 hours. Road noise is VERY pronounced. Interior materials are substandard - very easy to mark plastics & can never remove these marks through cleaning or rubbing. The radio is starting to malfunction. Sun visors will not stay up against the windshield. Thus, I have to point the visor toward my face in order to block the sun & drive at the same time. The auto transmission does not shift smoothly - first gear is geared too low. Hey Honda, how about making the oil capacity either 4 or 5 quarts, NOT 4.4! No more Honda vehicles for me.

  • CRV horrible parts availability - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

I have had two issue with parts availability which has kept me from my vehicle for over 1.5 months. An alternator failed after 2,000 miles stranding me in a snow storm. It took over two weeks to get an alternator in. An unfortunate accident caused over one month wait for a headlight assembly and Windshield.

  • My Last CR-V - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

This is our second and last CR-V. Has served us well but we are just tired of this small vehicle (we are not large people). Just put second set of rear rotor and pads on the rear at 50,000 miles. Fronts on second set of pads. Need to replace the rear caliper, $375 at dealer for parts only. $74 at autozone. CR-V is alright for around-town driving but too small for a road trip. OEM tires terrible - now on Michelins and much better ride. 26-27 mpg on highway trip at 70-75 mph. AWD works great as we live in Buffalo snow belt. Considering used grand caravan or Odyssey.

  • Disappointed honda lover - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

I travel in and out of state for work so I need something good on gas with awd. I owned my 99 accord 10 years with 230k and all she needed was regular maintenance. In the 3 years I have owned this truck I have replaced the oil pressure switch 3 times, catalytic converter clogged, a/c issues, rear calipers seized, interior lights in dash inoperable, lower ball joints and (the cherry on top) the piston rings went which means my motor needs to be replaced. And I still owe money on the loan. Honda is not what they use to be :(

  • Wouldnt purchase another one - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

First honda purchased, engine misses out, was told by dealership the missing out is OK, something the CRV engine does. Gas mileage is average 22 miles per gallon. Just not pleased with the car.

  • Piece of Junk - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

Extremely underpowered, and the AWD doesnt work. The shifter is extremely akward to operate, and often gets stuck. Aside from the decent gas mileage, I would not recommend this vehicle to anyone and am looking to get rid of mine.
