  • I was a honda lover - 2005 Honda CR-V

I have had my V (#Four off the line) for little over a year now...Got it with 65k. Was not even broke in. Put about 90 miles on it before the VTEC switch went out. Thats $300. Put another 2k on it before it went out again...It seems that all the little things that can go wrong has..Well here we are about 6 months in with this car, two sets of brakes, two VTEC switches three sets of spark pugs. a set of coil packs ($90 a pop!), a fuel pump, a new lower control arm. ex ex In the past year i have sunk a little over 2 grand into the accord that wanted to be a "SUV". lets just say i have been thinking about setting it fire

  • Another Disappointed Honda Customer - 2005 Honda CR-V

4 years and 66,000 km needed a VSA replacement-very costly had to autosalvage it. Now material is peeling off doors on inside of cabin. I wish I had not sold my 98 Civic which was virtually problem free for this vehicle which I can not wait to unload.

  • My 2005 CR-V EX AWD - 2005 Honda CR-V

After test-driving the Tucson, Rav4 and Escape, the CR-Vs interior has better quality, the exterior fit and finish is also superior. Cargo area would be improved if the rear seats folded into the floor; this is a major flaw with the CR-V. Another major flaw is the rear swing door, it should be replaced with an overhead lift door. The CR-V is fun to drive but needs better tires than the OEM Bridgestone’s. They are noisy and hard riding. Honda still needs to put more thought into some of the interior details. Indicator lights need to be added on the driver’s side window controls along with lights for some of the storage bins. Overall, the CR-V is a nice compact

  • 45000 miles later - 2005 Honda CR-V

Bought my CR-V in Dec.of 04, over 45000 miles on it. Biggest complaint is the pulling to the right. Have had it in numerous times and they always say "Its in alignment, even tire wear" OK fine, I can live with it cause I put on Michelin Hydro-edge tires and they find the road groove-crown. I cant get more than 20MPG no matter how hard I try. Noisy ride but reliable. I feel pretty safe, feel safe with wife and kids in it. I just had the tranny oil changed, it was black, should be reddish. Had the rear diff. cleaned- serviced. Trans is smoother I recommend it but its no speedy Cross over Vehicle, more of a reliable all weather ride. Needed tires too at 20K

  • POOR AC! - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

We bought our CRV based on Hondas reputation. It is only 3 years old with 50,000 miles on it and the ac broke. It cost $1,800 to fix. Apparently the mechanic said this is common with the CRV. He also said he has seen many with transmission issues. Think twice about the CRV before purchasing. Investigate with a mechanic that you trust about their reliability. Up until now we really enjoyed ours but to avoid any other big ticket repairs we are considering trading it in. Its ridiculous to have to put thousands of dollars worth of repairs into a car that is not that old especially with the reputation honda has for reliability. I guess the CRV is the exception.

  • Not the quality I expected - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

After much review I opted for the CRV Special Edition. I had driven a Camry and loved the ride. My CRV still feels awkward. The road noise is horrible, reminds me of my 76 Pinto! I am looking for a replacement. The AWD is what lured me to the CRV.

  • My 2005 CRV - 2005 Honda CR-V

I wanted to purchase the EX version but instead purchased the LX AWD to save the 2K, big mistake. In addition to the obvious enhancements offered by the EX trim line, the seats were even more comfortable due to the better fabric used. Plus, I missed the sunroof, tinted windows and nice alloy wheels only used in the EX trim line. Otherwise, my LX-AWD was a good performer. Avg city/hwy mileage 22 mpg.

  • Poor Gas Mileage and Rattles - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

I drove a 2000 CRV-SE for 4.5 years and traded for one of the first 2005 models off the line. I am sorry I traded the 2000. Gas mileage never comes close to the promised mileage on the sticker and is much worse than 2000 model. The car is plagued with rattles that the dealer cant fix. The ride is stiff and uncomfortable. XM radio is nice, but the $500 extra cost is misleading in sales brochure that says "XM ready". Heated seats are nice, as are the radio controls mounted on the steering wheel. There is less space on the floor between the front seats than the 2000 model. Cant fit my Longaberger roadtrip basket where it sat in the 2000.

  • DONT BUY A HONDA! - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

Both the front and rear suspension are defective and make strange popping and knocking noises. This started after only a month after I bought the car brand new. AND after about 8000 miles, I started hearing gas moving around in the back of the car right after I fill the tank. It’s been to the dealer almost a dozen times and they can’t fix it. They say the gas sloshing noise is normal!!! Honda refuses to give my money back. Customer service stinks – after talking to me for 6 months, the rep has tried to blame every complaint on me or my driving and can’t even pronounce my name correctly. DONT BUY FROM HONDA!

  • 2005 CRV Disappointed - 2005 Honda CR-V
    By -

I researched the Honda CRV for over two years before I purchased a 2005 model. I had to take it to the dealer for missing body hardware, coolant loss and a sensor replacement within the first six months of ownership. I doubt that any of these defects had any thing to do with the fact that it was built in England but thats for others to determine. Recently one of the front Bridgestone Dueler H/T tires, with only 6900 miles on them, blew while my wife was driving in her employers parking lot. She has a broken neck, concussion, facial laceration and head and body trauma. If Honda wants to build a high quality vehicle why are they using a tire that so many people are unhappy with?
