The CR-V is best for its drive train and reliability. The new CR-V is worst for the new plush velor interior, which shows all dirt and is difficult to clean. My 1997 CR-Vs interior looked better after 5 years than my 2003 for this reason

  • it is ok but needs improvements - 2003 Honda CR-V

drive smoothly but high level of noise, engine should be more responsive (i.e. faster acceleration), already the model has two recalls, stereo needs more power.

  • CRV or Bust!! - 2003 Honda CR-V

Ok...so its a smaller SUV but our family of four LOVE the CRV. Really. Turn radius is super, comfortable, verrrry reliable and fun/easy to drive! Gas mileage is about 22 hwy. 18 or so city. Good storage room in back. Weve had 5 people (2 adults/3 kids) and theyre not squished. There are no blind spots, either. Important for me!!

My first venture into SUV ownership and I must say I am very satisfied. Good, reliable transport. Room enough for 4 good-sized adults or 2 adults and 3 kids. Good ride and no problems in snow. The 4 cylinder engine gets up and goes enough and cruises right along at highway speeds (and slightly above). Would recommend this car to anyone who wants the feel of an SUV, but doesnt expect to do any more off-roading than hitting the grass next to your driveway.

  • Beware cruise control - 2003 Honda CR-V

Never wanted a Honda CRV. Caved into the dealership sales pitch. Took awhile, but really enjoy driving it, very much. Mine has 67,000 miles and will simply keep driving it. Two things, 1.) the CRUISE CONTROL separated from its location in the engine at 57,000 miles. Dealership said "out-of-warranty" and quoted $986.00 to fix, then indicated that this happened to another customer. They said they would supply the part, I pay for the labor. OK. That was a year ago, and even after several phone calls to them, I still have no cruise control. Also, at 17,000 miles the drivers side floor carpet split, Honda said it was due to "usage". No, it was poor installation.

  • Shake, Rattle and Roll - 2003 Honda CR-V

This is my very first new car. The first two years were bliss because I overlooked little things that are now driving me crazy. And each month a new noise appears. The linkage is awful but my mechanic tightens it up regularly. Brakes failed me on a bridge in Virginia last August. Horrifying but let me tell you how grateful I am to have a standard transmission. All tires have been replaced. Monday the new starter goes in. The road noise which I cheerfully ignored because I was driving a HONDA is now torture. The original battery lasted 3 months. The passenger side door lock does not open automatically any more. Fuses have been replaced. Never again.

  • Disappointed in Honda - 2003 Honda CR-V

Between my wife and I we have owned four Hondas, 3 Accords and now 1 2003 CRV EX. We purchased each Honda new and all three Accords were fantastic reliable vehicles. I thought that I was a Honda customer for life. Then we bought a new 2003 CRV. Its now 6 years old with only 49K miles on it. Weve replaced 2 sensors ($450), all four brake pads and rotors ($500) and now both front struts + a front end alignment ($600). I can understand all of these wear items around the 100K area, but not at 49K miles. In reading through other reviews, looks like I can expect the AC to go soon too. Well try Toyota soon. Honda, learn from the quality errors of the big three, or you may be sorry.

  • Four Wheel Drive on a Budget - 2003 Honda CR-V

The 03 Honda CRV is a good choice overall, given Hondas well known build quality and high resale value. It is well engineered and has plenty of room especially for this class. However I do notice some cost cutting measures taken. I am disapointed that only the drivers power window switch illuminates at night.I believe the Honda CRV EX is a good value with the features it does include. However if I was considering the CRV 4WD LX model I would give the Subaru Forester 2.5X a serious look.

  • The best for your money. - 2003 Honda CR-V

We have owned many cars, most of which have been Hondas. We always come back for the value and reliability. Our CRV is no exception. Though we have only owned this one a short time, it is our second CRV. We purchased a new one only because we discovered we needed a 4 wheel drive.

  • Good reliable transportation - 2003 Honda CR-V

Bought this new in 2003 and have had few problems with it. The OEM tires are poor and had to be replaced at 24000 miles, but other than that, the car has been very reliable. Great in the snow and comfortable. Replaced the following: Back up light switch 50000 miles Resistor in blower motor 60,000 miles Brakes replaced at 100000 (pads) Battery 110000 miles Serpentine belt at 60000 and 120000 I have been advised to replace front struts due to leakage but as they still work fine I have ignored this. The rest has been normal scheduled maintenance.
