  • Potentially serious issues with a 2003 HONDA CR-V - 2003 Honda CR-V

    1. Changed all door lock actuators, including the hatch door 2. Poor to dangerous car stability on two occasions First time on a slightly icy road the car did a 180 degree turn while driving at 40 miles/hour, I landed on the opposite direction of a two way street, fortunately nobody was driving on the other side Second time the car did a 90 degree turn on a slightly wet road, again driving ~ 35-40 miles/hour On both occasions the CR-V had top of the line tires that were in fine condition I have also been driving VW and Hyundai cars and never had this kind of experiences as I had with the CR-V

  • Honda CR-V Air Conditioner Issue Cover Up - 2003 Honda CR-V
    By -

Purchased my Honda CR-V new, it now has just over 70,000 miles, last week the air conditioning system failed and wiped out the entire system. The dealer wanted $2000 to replace the system. I refused and checked out the issue on line. As it turns out there are multiple year air conditioning failures on the CR-V. Hondas USA Corporate office is refusing to acknowledge to there is an issue. I am contacting the California State Attorney General and an attorney. Hondas Corporate Customer Service Rep would not let me make a point on the phone and told me, "I might want to be quiet before I stuck my foot in my mouth!" This is typical of how Honda has handled this problem. Stay tuned!

  • CRV is a DISASTER! - 2003 Honda CR-V

I am so frustrated right now, it seems our mechanic sees the car more! We have had front strut issues, tire issues, brakes going to early, AC issues, and when I am driving it sometimes feels like I have a manual trans and have the gear too high, I am afraid what that means. Now the emissions warning is on, back door latch is getting lax. I want to get rid of this terrible terrible car soon! I like the looks hate the car. We dont have alot money to constantly be fixing this!!

  • Ripped off - 2003 Honda CR-V

My girlfriend purchased this vehicle with 50,000 mi. on it which we figured for a Honda this was nothing. At 90,000 mi the transmission started to shift into overdrive too early and the vehicle would lug like a standard shift in to high of a gear. We had an extended warranty to 100000mi. and brought it in to the dealer in our area and a so called technician took it for a day and came back and of course said he didnt notice anything. So we left and of course a few thousand miles after the warranty ran out we had to fork out 3000 bucks on a transmission. Thanks Honda. I wont ever buy or recommend you again.

  • Totally Disappointed in Honda Quality - 2003 Honda CR-V
    By -

Like other 2003 CRV owners, I bought with expectations of "Honda quality." My air conditioner went out at 56K miles, and to their credit, Honda paid for parts I paid for labor. At 118K it went out again. I was told it was "too far out of warranty" for them to replace the AC again. I assume keeping a Honda for 200+K means replacing the AC every 55K miles??? The oxygen sensor is also out, so I am a soon-to-be EX-Honda owner. Had planned to buy a Civic next, but not now. Detroit should be a lesson on squandering a good reputation and letting quality slip. I dont know what it costs for Honda to get a new customer, but it cost them an AC replacement to lose a "Honda for life" customer.

  • No So Good Honda - 2003 Honda CR-V
    By -

I am very disappointed and surprised at the unreliability of the 2003 CRV. I thought Hondas lasted a long time with standard maintenance. I had to replace the tires not long after I got the car. The ones that come with the car are poor and unstable. My seatbealts are difficult to use and dont slide back and forth as they should. The security light stayed on because one of the seatbeats was not working at all. A part had to be ordered. Another one is a nightmare to use. I have had to replace one of the oxygen sensors for $550.00. Now my clutch and air conditioner are going out. Thats another $2000 plus. Because of this, I will not purchase another Honda and will now trade this one in.

  • Bad Apple from the Honda Tree - 2003 Honda CR-V

The day we drove off the lot and started driving our shiny new EX on the highway I tested the cruise control. It wasnt working. Had to leave the car with the dealer for 2 days to fix. Then within 8 months had 3 recalls on this . At 18000 had to get new brakes and at 26000 new tires. At 78,000 2 of my engine mounts broke which affected the axles. So for $750 got that fixed (by my mechanic), the dealer told me that it will cost me $1,600. Now I have to replace the bushings. Its been not a good experience owning this vehicle. By the way most of the driving is highway and local. I wouldnt dream of taking this offroad. Never recommending a Honda product to my worst enemies (or friends).

  • will never buy another honda - 2003 Honda CR-V
    By -

The car is noisy and feels cheaply made. Very tinny. Lots of rattles and air noises. Very uncomfortable ride. The smallest bump in the road feels huge. Looses grip on tight turns on wet pavement. Feels like it could flip over very easily. The dealership service dept is aweful! They never believe my complaints and blow smoke up my butt about what they fixed. I will never buy another honda nor go to that dealer again! I am going back to subaru!
