This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

If you can be in love with an inanimate object then I guess I am. My Black EX V6 Accord is just a lot of fun to drive. The 105 degree Texas weather does not bother me. Two clicks and hold on the door unlock button lowers all windows. The jet black paint needs frequent washes but this car deserves the love. Gas mileage is as advertised, 21 mpg city. I work for the State Environmental Agency and I tried driving green but decided that fun was the better choice. Buy an Accord used and save your money. Mine was two years old and it looks brand new. They are built to last. I call it my mafia car and my wife just laughs.

  • Little bit of everything - 2006 Honda Accord

I stepped out of an 04 S2000 to accommodate growing family and this has been the right choice. The car looks great, built very soundly, great performance for what it is and what it costs. Its a lot of fun to drive, and this is coming from a guy who has had cars w/400+hp and an S2000. The dual chrome exhaust pipes look good and remind me of my past sports cars. The leather is comfortable, the sound system is great, interior and exterior styling is slick, and the ride is smooth. Plus its a honda so you know its going to last you well beyond its warranty. Id recommend this car to anyone looking for a well-rounded commuter car that is fun to drive.

I purchased this 2006 Accord 4 cyl automatic new and the vehicle has 205,000 miles on it. Only routine maintenance has been required so far. Its one great dependable car. I would purchase another car, but this one is too dependable.

I went from a 2001 Accord V-6 to a 2006 Accord V-6. Wow. Ride noise is almost non-existent! Car is very responsive and power is there when you need it. Handling is great. This car is actually fun to drive and it doesnt seem like work! I dont get tired of driving this thing. Stereo is VERY nice for stock. Put a K&N air filter in it and got an increased 40 miles per tank of gas! Truly a wonderful car to buy if you have to drive and you want the comfort of an expensive luxury car without the huge price tag! (My other car is an 05 F-150)

Great car! Expected higher actual mileage. Creaking noise from right rear seat is annoying. Drivers seat belt does not retract sufficiently to clear door.

I purchased my Black Honda Accord EX Leather/Navigation in late May, 2006. I love the look of the car. The seats are comfortable, and the steering feels just right. I get a lot of road noise, and the engine runs loud especially when accelerating. The ride is not as smooth as my Toyota Sienna. The dashboard dimmer light is in an akward position. The voice activation feature leaves much to be desired. Various commands not related to the a/c toggles the a/c on and off. Manual audio controls are needed. Trying to use the touch screen while driving is dangerous.

  • Always a Honda - 2006 Honda Accord

With the exception of a "between cars car" I have always driven an Accord and the newest model is yet another example of why this is one of the top 3 selling cars in America. Design, quality, reliability - all top notch. Very smooth ride that will run forever at a price most families can afford.

  • Best in Class Value - 2006 Honda Accord

2006 EX-V6/AT We have a 2004 Accord and needed another car. Test-drove the new Camry, Acura TL, and IS350. All great cars, and honestly didnt want to have two of the same car, but there was really no comparison. The steering feel, performance, ergonomics and comfort of this vehicle cant be beat at this price point. The Camry is very quiet and has more rear seat room, but not nearly as fun to drive and lacks the same standard features. The 2006 is definitely more fun to drive, might be the drive-by-wire throttle but this Accord gives more steering response and the suspension is more sporty than the 2004 EX V6. Couldnt stop smiling driving it home from the dealership. No contest. Honda definitely improved steering feel and agility over 2004 model which was my main complaint back then.

  • 2006 Honda Accord LX Special Edition - 2006 Honda Accord

I really like this car, the special edition is the way to go with the alloy wheels and 6 disc cd changer and audio controls on the steering wheel this car is quite a deal. It drives well especially on highways and accelerates quickly without being overpowering. It is very sporty. I had a choice between this car and the 2006 Camry and I am very happy with my choice the Camry made me feel older and it was boring. I will never buy anything other than Honda and Acura.

  • Affordable Luxury - 2006 Honda Accord

I looked at everything out there. I wanted leather, wood grain interior, dependability, and sharp looks. For my price range, it came down to a Certified Used Acura or a brand spanking new Accord (I tested Camry and Altima and they werent in the same class). Obviously I went with the Accord and have been very pleased for the last 2 months.
