This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • Finally reviewing.... - 2006 Honda Accord

I have had the 2006 Accord Ex-V6 since it was new, but have never reviewed it until now. This is the fourth Honda I have owned. I keep all my cars for many years. This car is quite comfortable. I think that is my favorite aspect of the car. The leather seats have held up well. I have had the car almost 7 years (purchased in Nov. 05) and the leather is still not split. My back seats still look practically new. Nothing in the interior has ever broken, to date. The exterior paint is thin and scratches easily. The reported sticker gas mileage is totally inaccurate. It avgs. 18 mpg. The reliability of the car does not compare to my former Honda cars. Its been towed three times in the last year!

  • stay away - this car is a junk-yard worthy thing nothing more - 2006 Honda Accord

I had this Honda Accord EX V6 for more than 6 years. This was a complete waste of money - problems started almost right after first year - annoying noise in the driver and passenger doors. Then, it had an issue with the steering wheel power pump, next engine mounts broke, then transmission died (at 60000 miles), next I had to replace struts, then steering pump was replaced and finally it started leaking oil... and... well, this list can go on, thankfully I had extended warranty so most of the repairs didnt cost me big $$.

  • Boring, Dull but Reliable - 2006 Honda Accord

This car is definitely not in the BMW 3 series league. I had the V6 - 6 speed model with the sport suspension. Understeered fairly bad, rolled and wobbled badly on corers, and despite fairly good HP numbers, acceleration felt uninspired. This car had no personality, it just basically ran -- dull exhaust note, non-communicative steering. If you just want a commuter car, this is probably fine, but dont waste your money on the V6. You want a more performance oriented car, look elsewhere.

  • Bad Seats - 2006 Honda Accord

I got the lowest model - the LX - and the seats are horrible. They are very stiff and there is no lumbar adjustment. If you have a bad back I would not recommend this vehicle. Overall the car runs and looks great! I am just disappointed that Honda makes such a great car with horrible interior. Also, the brakes are a little touchy.

  • Not so Comfortable! :( - 2006 Honda Accord

I just bought a 06 Honda coupe lx and man I should have driven it for a longer period of time. The seats are upholster with no lumbar adjustment and hard as a rock. I have a lower back problem and the seat makes my leg go numb. Ouch. Over all it is a good car. It is a nice drive but a little bumpy and a lot of outside noise. It is very pretty on the outside, but watch out for the seats....

  • Gripes - 2006 Honda Accord

When we went to look at the Honda Accord Hybrid car, the salesperson did tell us that it is not a true hybrid, that the mileage is not what it states on the sticker. It has great pick-up when needed to accelerate. The dashboard lights are great! Highway ride is a bit rough and the interior noise is noticeable. On occasions we have experienced some blind spots while driving, warrenting a sudden correction . Do not like the spare-tire feature, very dumb. We feel good about driving a clean car but wish it could give us better mileage!

I hate this car. There is hardly any room in the car. I hate the big oversized knobs for the radio and the a/c. It eats gas like there is no tomorrow.

  • Not very impressed - 2006 Honda Accord

Drove a 2006 Accord (EX, V6, Nav) one day, took it on the usual route. The car would shake at idle. I figured with a V6, this car should be rock solid. Not much power. The nav system is horrible! I dont want to talk to my car. Just give me a button to press. Car rode a bit rough, seats were nice, cabin was somewhat quiet. Overall, not very impressed. Car did not feel like it was bolted together very well. A shame too because Ive always wanted an Accord. I ended up purchasing a Maxima.

  • Most overated car - 2006 Honda Accord

I purchased my brand new 2006 Honda Accord SE about five weeks ago and what a disappointment The car is a rattle trap, idles like an old tractor and the gas mileage is nowhere near the one advertised. I went back to the dealership thinking that it might be something wrong with the idle in MY car but surprise... after checking the idle in 6 brand new Accords they all proved to have the same problem. My advice if you are thinking to buy this car is to take a LONG test drive let the car idle with air conditioning on in heavy traffic so you will see if you can put up with the shaking. Do you research... be informed. My other car is a Honda Prelude and is one of the best cars Ive ever driven.

  • Should have been better... - 2006 Honda Accord

I bought this car for the safety, reliability, resale value, and fuel economy. After living with it for 6 months, I really dislike this car. The ride is noisy, bumpy and harsh all the time, the windows and dash are full or rattles, and the drivers seat is a miserable place to spend any time. Cloth upholstery is at the bottom of the class. The standard stereo has a cd changer but the sound is not good. The headlights put out a lot less light than I was expecting. Honda has a great reputation, but that appears to be all you are paying for on this car.
