This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • Honda Accord "An excellent vehicle" - 2006 Honda Accord

I researched the Accord, Camry, and Altima and the Galant and selected the Accord. The Accord is very competent, refined and nimble. Its fun to drive. It feels very sporty.

  • Honda All the Way!!!! - 2006 Honda Accord

Great car!!!! I love it!!!! For the last 2 years I had been driving a Volvo S80 T6 that kept breaking down on me. Finally, I said enough is enough, I went back to Honda. My Honda drives better than my Volvo did. The styling is great, the interior is great, and the ride is awesome. I missed driving a stick shift, so I had to get my new Accord with a stick, although I could have gotten the V6-6 speed (didnt want to pay for the extra gas with all the driving that I do) but the 4 cylinder 166 hp is great. Nice get up and go. Way to go Honda, same great car that I have come to know and love.

We purchased this Accord in 5-06, new. It has 25K on it as of 1-09. So far its been washed, periodic oil and filter changes and a new air filter. Its trouble free. The gold appeals to my wife and she really loves the car. Fit and finish are also good with a very nice paint job. Mileage is a consistent 25 mpg. Brakes were touchy at first and now are fine. This model is the Value Pack which is the lowest priced Accord. I could not believe we could get a new Honda for under 17K! Some of its many features we enjoy are its high resale value, rock solid feel and its reliability. We got our daughter an 07 Accord and its a carbon copy of ours, a safe, hassle-free reliable car.

This is truly "the" automobile. If there is anything negative to say, it would be that the back seats have no leg room. I am taller and need my seat back which eliminates legroom in the back. I dont need back seat so this is basically a 2 seater for me. I love this vehicle! I am never in a hurry to get anywhere anymore. In fact when I get there I wish I still had some more miles to cruise.

  • Fantastic car, very near to perfection - 2006 Honda Accord

This is the single best bang for your buck in the $26K and under category. Easily. Ride quality, style, comfort are all incredible. Sporty looking car (the V6 has enough power to back it up but the I-4 is a few ponies short). Everyone Ive had in the car has complimented it.

  • Great Commuter Car - 2006 Honda Accord

I have owned this car for only 5 months, but it has been rock solid and bulletproof. Super gas mileage - several mixed city/highway tank fills have averaged 38 mpg (thats over 500 miles between fill-ups even allowing for a small reserve). Drivers position and ergonomics are well designed: from the tilt and telescoping steering wheel to the radio/CD and HVAC controls, Honda has successfully executed the interior design of this vehicle in every detail.

Bought this car in December 05. A lot of car for the money, very affordable, nice ride. Had a 2000 Accord, 2 dr. V6 prior to this one and was very happy with it. Will stick with Honda till another company can do it better.

  • Reliable commuter car - 2006 Honda Accord

The car is very reliable with great fuel economy for a midsize, but the finish out is cheap. Glove compartment drawer rattles and there is rattle from trunk lid. Ive learned to live with it, instead of taking it into the shop. Driver door handle faux metal finish flaked off within the first 10,000 miles (replaced - no charge). The seat heaters only heat the seat and not the lumbar/lower back. Seats are not made for long trips (3+ hours) without a stretch break. Finish out is the biggest negative and almost enough to trading-in or sell an otherwise reliable vehicle.

  • Best econo-box for the money! - 2006 Honda Accord

I bought this car with economics in mind. I have a long communte (70 mi) round trip. I have been getting 32mpg on average. I recently took this on a long trip, and I did get 34 mpg. Quiet, plenty of power, great mpg, never have gotten under 30!!! Its not a thrill to drive, its still a 4cyl economy 4 door, but it does handle well, and is very smooth and quiet. If you are looking for a greaet daily driver, with enough room for a car seat and stroller, this is the car for you!

  • Not surprised - 2006 Honda Accord

I test drove the Ford 500, Altima & Camry and EX was by far the best. Smooth ride, quiet, good sound system (this could be improved), handles great, peppy for a 4-cyl. However, I am disappointed in the gas mileage so far but the car is really not broken in yet. Could have a few more bells and whistles like seat position memory, in- dash indicators of fuel and mileage. All in all, I LOVE THE CAR. Leather interior is soft and does not really hold the heat and here in Alabama, that is a consideration. Stop thinking, just buy one! Note to car manufacturers: please think of something to hold a womans purse!
