This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • Great car - 2006 Honda Accord

I now drive this car after owning several Honda / Acura vehicles in the past. They are the best vehicles on the road for the money. It is powerful enough to get by most cars, and yet just blends in like a regular car. It isnt flashy, but I love my Accord . I only wish that I would have gotten the v6 manual instead of the auto. Simple, reliable, classy, yet sporty. I have always been satisfied with Honda products and Im a loyal customer. Looking forward to my next car, the 2017 Honda Accord.

  • Not as good as I thought - 2006 Honda Accord

I heard how great the Accord is from this website, from my experience that was wrong. My 06 Accord was the first new car Ive ever purchased. I got the extended warranty, the xylon coating, and I check its vitals (oil, tire pressure, power steering, etc) weekly. I avoid rough, pot-holed, bumpy roads (and take it real slow when they cant be avoided) yet I have had soo many problems with this car. Ex.:In under 4 months my power steering started spazzing out. I had to take it in and explain to the technician (who just wanted to top off the fluid) that the reservoir shouldnt be virtually empty that quick (lots of effort went into getting them to properly inspect it).And there are more...

  • Poor mans BMW - 2006 Honda Accord

Dont believe the estimated mpg. I consistently get 26mpg city/hwy & 31 hwy. This V6 is fast, comfortable & fun to drive. It doesnt handle quite as well in the corners as my previous car, 1995 BMW 525i, but would blow the doors off it. You do notice road noise at hwy speeds & the ride is a little stiff, feeling the bumps in the road, but that could be the original tires. It handles well in snow even with original tires. The interior & dash are well designed to keep controls simple and easy to reach. Im a 62" male & have plenty of leg & head room.

  • If it werent so quiet... - 2006 Honda Accord

I love everything about this car. It fits my family needs and is extremely fun to drive. The ONLY draw back, is that it is so quiet inside at low RPMs (idle) that I tend to misjudge where the friction point is in the clutch! So Ive been tending to over rev the car from time to time, when starting out. But who can complain right? Its perfect for me. Also, the "little gadgets" that other auto manufacturers put into their cars that end up driving the costs up, are not included in the Accord.

  • I Love This Car! - 2006 Honda Accord

I just purchased my Honda Accord Ex, and it was love at first test drive. I recently had a Nissan Altima, and this is so much more comfortable. The ride is so smooth, and its hard to believe that a 4 cyl engine is under the hood. It is so responsive. I really love the dashboard layout, as all the instruments are so convenient. The controls on the wheel are really nice. This is a lot of car for the dollar. It is the best deal out there. I highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a quality car, at an affordable price.

Well balanced car all around. The Interior design is astonishing, exterior design is sharp and sleek. Great get up and go power for a four cylinder. Rides smooth and quiet on the highway.
