This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • ValuePackage is still great car! - 2006 Honda Accord

Like most consumers, I narrowed my new car purchase down to either a Camry or an Accord. After test driving both vehicles, the answer was clear-cut. The Accord is a better looking car inside and out and the few options that I do not have on my car are outweighed by the fact that side- curtain airbags were included, where Toyota wanted to charge extra for them. The vehicle has tight handling and responsive acceleration that I did not find in the Camry I test drove. Add in the courteous and professional service I got from the Honda dealer (that I did not get at the Toyota lot) and I bought the car before leaving the lot the same day I test drove it.

Bought a new Honda not expecting a whole lot when test driving the LX 4 cylinder. Was pleasantly surprised by the power that was available! Beautiful car and comfortable interior. Fun to drive!

My Honda VP 2006 Accord was purchased new. I was disappointed in the gas mileage and the quality. Before, I had a Honda Accord DX 1991-2006, this Accord was built solid. But, 2006 has noticeable road noise, doesnt turn as well. Its like Honda wanted to save money by building lighter and cheaper car. Overall 7.5.

  • Its great driving a smaller new car - 2006 Honda Accord

I had a very large turning radius in my late husbands Cadillac...What a pleasure it is to be able to make a turn in one movement... It took me a while to get used to the inner mechanics and stickshift [automatic] on the console [instead of the wheel]. I still have difficulty releasing the hand brake because Im not as strong as I used to be. But, now its a real delight to zip around! P.S. Im 88 years old.

  • This car makes you want to drive! - 2006 Honda Accord

My 06 Accord V-6 Coupe is the most enjoyable car to drive that Ive owned or rented in the past 30 years. It offers excellent handling & strong acceleration, reasonable gas economy for a V-6 (I get 22 - 28 mpg), an attractive interior (w/leather seats) & exterior, and a large trunk for trips to the home improvement stores & vacations. So far its been totally perfect. All in all -- a terrific and fun car. What more could you ask for in a 2 door car -- unless you have to haul a family around?

  • Excellent reliabitly, great fuel economy - 2006 Honda Accord

I bought my Accord in March 2006 new for $19,500. I do a lot of driving for work so I needed a reliable, but fuel-efficient car. The Accord has exceeded my expectations by a mile. Mine has 90K miles on it and has had absolutely nothing go wrong. I take it for routine maintenance, but do nothing else. I get about 35 MPG on the highway (with cruise) and drove it to Florida and back from NJ with ease. The interior controls are simple yet perfectly placed. The build is strong. The acceleration, while not exhilarating, is great for a 4 cylinder. All in all, this is the best investment Ive ever made in a car.

  • Took a friends advice, and bought a Honda Accord. - 2006 Honda Accord

After purchasing MANY different new cars throughout my life, in 2006 I decided to take the advise of a trusted and wise Honda owning friend. He had 250K on his 2005 Honda Accord, and he loved the car. My Honda has been THE BEST auto purchase ever, and it is 100% reliable and inexpensive to operate! As a professional marketer and on the road most of the time, this is HUGE. Not sure I can ever part with her.

  • Great Deal - 2006 Honda Accord

I got the 2006 Accord EX V6. Its actually my second accord and im very impressed with it. My 1994 accord has 115,000 miles in it and still running. The 2006 accord is very comfortable and roomy to drive. I was disappointed to find out that the automatic starter is not a standard. I dont actually have a problem with the breaks, since its still new, it is very sensitive. Otherwise the ride is very smooth, you can barely hear the engine when its on.

  • A very nice Honda - 2006 Honda Accord

This is my first ever Honda and I love it a lot. Nice styling and good build quality. I own a black one and took it to tint window and install HID headlight now the car looks as nice as a BMW. The performance of the car is excellent but need some practice for the cluch before get used to it. Havent try to push the car hard but you can feel a lot of power above 3000rpm. A very comfortable, fast and fun to drive car for everyday use.

I traded in my old 00 Hyundai Elantra for this 06 Accord and I couldnt have made a better choice! I drive a lot, about 15k each year and the seats are so soft and comfy I could sleep in them! I definitely love the sunroof, steering wheel controls and black interior. Lots of compartments for storage as well. Obviously, isnt that great in the snow, so sadly I must trade in for a SUV soon. Otherwise I would keep this baby forever!
