This Year's Model Updates:

The 2006 Honda Accord receives freshened interior and exterior styling and mechanical- and feature-related updates. Sharp eyes will notice the Accord's revised fascias and new alloy wheel designs. Minor engine tweaks, including drive-by-wire throttle control, result in a slight bump in horsepower for both the four-cylinder and V6 engine (a more significant development than you might think given the more stringent SAE testing procedures in effect this year). Additionally, the V6 sedan can now be equipped with a six-speed manual transmission, and all V6 models have revised suspension settings, 17-inch alloy wheels and stability control. Last year's DX has been replaced by the VP (Value Package) trim with standard air conditioning and cruise control, and LX V6 and Hybrid models gain a moonroof. The LX Special Edition includes alloy wheels, rear disc brakes and a CD changer. The Accord Hybrid also picks up stability control and a temporary spare tire in place of last year's flat-fix kit. Additionally, the Hybrid model's fuel economy rating drops from 29 city/37 highway to 25/34. Finally, all models get a smart maintenance system and daytime running lamps.

Pros:
  • Roomy and stylish interior with simple controls, tight build quality, smooth ride, refined drivetrains, good crash test scores, strong reputation for reliability, high resale value.
Cons:
  • Tepid handling, brakes should be more powerful. Hybrid model offers no advantage in fuel economy over four-cylinder.

  • Honda Redeems Itself - 2006 Honda Accord

Previous to this 2006 Honda Accord I owned a new 2000 Accord EX 4 cyl. for 6 years. After 5 transmissions and numerous other mechanical problems I was very anti Honda. I shopped around for months determined not to buy another Honda. I test drove everything in its class and I was not impressed with anything. I went to a Honda dealership and drove the 2006 Accord and fell in love with it. Ive had it 2 months now and my only complaints are that the exterior paint chips very easy and the car rolls a little when you go from park to drive. The gas mileage is not bad for a 6 cyl. I get about 300 miles for a tank of gas. Overall, I am very happy with this car and would recommend it.

Shopped around looking at Accord, Camry, Mazda 6. Hands down, the best overall value with standard safety features. Ive only had it for 3 weeks now. Plenty of pep in the 4 cyl. First round trip of 520 miles, mostly freeway, I averaged 38+ mpg w/5 speed manual (but Im a conservative driver). Handling is responsive but the ride is a little stiff. Plenty of leg and head room and ample room in back seat for 2 passengers.

This car is great since I was looking for a 4-door,6 cyl., w/manual trans. The car is solid and has the necessary power when needed (its so smooth that its very easy to speed). The dash layout is simple and you also get a sunroof, seat warmers, and XM radio! There is just s slight bit of road noise at higher speeds. Youll be very surprise with the amount of leg room for the back seat passengers and also the amount of space in the trunk. The only item that I need to get use to is the very short distance to shift gears (Im use to a much longer shift). It took about 10 weeks for my car to arrive Speacial order to get the Sapphire Blue - 6 speed).

This is my first ever Honda and I have to say that so far I have NO regrets. I have always owned a Toyota and although I love Toyota, I love Honda as well! I bought this Accord with 38,000 miles on it and it rides like a dream. I love the 6 disc CD changer and the the control features in the middle are easily accessible, which was a problem in my Camry, I had to reach farther to change my radio stations. I also love the controls on the steering wheel! Awesome!! Very comfortable ride. Hugs the road. Ive gotten tons of compliments on my Accord and most importantly my kids love it, too!!

Purchased HAH used for $24K w/ only 7K miles. Like many, I am a little disappointed with the mpg for a hybrid but considering its a 6 cylinder, I really cant complain too much considering I average 26 mpg and have gotten up to 37 mpg on long trips. This car is so comfortable w/ leather seats, handles smooth and has great pickup. I drove a 97 Camry before this and, although I was very happy with Toyota, I really love how my HAH drives. Also have ridden in a Prius and the seats are so uncomfortable. I really have no regrets on my HAH.

Best in its class! I was so impressed with the EX-L that I sold my Lincoln LS to get one. This is a complete-package automobile: affordable luxury, touring ability, and fuel economy. Kudos to Honda for consistent quality and continuous improvement.

What a great ride! I have been driving a Mini Van for several years and due to the age of my children I no longer need a vehicle this large. I went with this vehicle due to MPG and performance. I bought this car used with 31,000 miles at 20% below Kelley Blue Book. The vehicle is very quiet, love the leather as well as the interior. The performance of a V6 with the MPG of a 4 cylinder. Despite the reviews for the Hybrid Accord I love this vehicle.

Initial mpg 22/27 calculated by driving and topping off frequently. My wife did a little better @ 24/28. She just broke 20k and now we get 25/36. There are times when we get a real bad number (quite possibly from gas station pump error). The city mileage is about the same as a regular 6-cyl. Hwy fluctuates from (minus bad readings under 21 mpg!!!) 27-37.5. The more "broken-in" the better it seems at the moment. I am really curious about the rest of folks with this car. Are you all getting better results as the vehicle gets older? One small neg is the "jerk" when you step off the brake and touch the gas petal. The work around is let the brake go, wait 2 sec then touch the gas.

  • its okay - 2006 Honda Accord

Loud road noise. Annoying. Radio is too week for proper adjustment of road noise. Problems with the heater, runs hot and cool. Remote sucks, I need to be up against the car just about, might as well use the key. Tires on this car are too expensive and not necessary for this model (speed rating wise). Pick up lags a bit. Pulls to the right even on flat roads with the explanation by trained factory techs "all Honda accords do this and we like to call it the 6 second rule", thats stupid. Did I mention the poor remote reception? Cool looking radio minimum features, no speed volume increase, mute. Wipers are poor and the defogger works 1/3 of the windshield. Otherwise great color!

  • Once again Honda was the right choice - 2006 Honda Accord

This is the 4th Honda our family has owned. When it came time to replace our 97 Accord I thought it wold be an easy choice, buy another Accord, but looking at the new Camry and Hyundia I began to have doubts. After driving the other cars the choice was simple, the Accord was the better car.
