This Year's Model Updates:

Honda has added a new trim level for 2002, the SE. The Accord SE is based on the LX four-cylinder coupe or sedan trim level with an automatic transmission. Features setting the SE apart from LX models include an upgraded audio system, a driver seat power height adjustment, interior wood grain trim, antilock brakes, remote keyless entry and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, bland personality, stiff highway ride.

  • Good to Go - 2002 Honda Accord

I began by leasing my Honda in 2002. When the lease was up, I decided to purchase it. Ive been very satisfied with my Honda. I traded a 1995 Aurora for it and although I LOVED my Aurora, the Honda has most of the same features. Its great on gas mileage and roomy enough for four people to travel comfortably. The stereo system really rocks and its very easy to handle. Ive only had to have routine maintenance and so far have had no major problems.

Got this car on a 2-year lease and regret we didnt just buy it outright. We lease all our cars and always love giving them back to dealership, but not this one, the dealer is going to have to pry the keys out of my deathgrip! (New baby wont let us keep it) The power is pretty good for 200 horsies and an automatic. Great all around car for non-family types; add the suggested improvements below and it would be unbeatable. No wonder you see them everywhere.

Own a 2001 EX 4Cyl. Overall, it is a nice car. Regret to pick black color. It looks nice at first but when there is a door ding, it shows clearly; And also it will show dirt clearly too if not washed frequently. The car is so far trouble-free. It drives nicely. The suspension is bit stiff when I feel really tired. It holds the corner or curve well with precise steering. Transmission is ok. It cruises quietly, effortlessly at 70-75mph. However, when it starts from stop, it is sluggish at 15-20mph.

  • just ok - 2002 Honda Accord

this is my 5th honda since 1988, and my fourth accord. I also had a 2000 civic si. hondas are not reliable. the 88 never had any unexpected mechanical or electrical failures. my 94 and 2000 accords were mechanical and electrical nightmares within the first year. 2002 v6 ex coupe is already experiencing electrical problems and gas mileage is below the estimate, it only has 16000 miles on it. the v6 is not as powerful as it should be. but the automatic transmission is less than an adequate performer. I would rather have this car in a 5 or 6 speed manual, which was impossible to find. there are also a number of blind spots in the car.

  • Very Pleasant Purchase - 2002 Honda Accord

Ive had the car for about 3 months and put on about 3,000 miles, including one out-of-state trip. Car drives and handles very well, providing great comfort. The only disappointment is the mileage: about 20mpg vs the 26 that I had expected. Otherwise, Im extremely satisfied with the car.

This is our first Honda and maybe our last. We have 33k and we are on our third transmission. Carrier Baring proplems were commoon on 2000 and 2001 but I guess we come the lemon from the line. 2nd Honda traney malfunctioned and now we are getting a 3rd. We stopped buying Aerican because of quality issues but now we may by Nissan in the future. I like everything about this car except the quality of the drivetrain.

I got a wonderful deal on my 2002 Honda Accorda LX 4dr/4cy. Great gas mileage while on the open road; 33-36mpg, less than desirable in traffic; 15-20mpg. Im hooked on its looks, have no idea why they changed its great looks, but who am I. Very quiet on the open road, the steering is right on the money, and the little four is able to tackle almost any size mountain/hill while in cruise control when the AC is off. Great overall car for the amount we paid for it $16,400 for a brand new one with 5 miles on it.

  • Need a better transmission - 2002 Honda Accord
    By -

The transmission began to jerk after 50000 miles and totally broke after 85000 miles. Spent more than $22K to get it fixed and now the driving is very smooth. There was also some transmission issue in my another Honda Accord (1996 model), which was totaled by a drunkard. Everything else is good.

I looked at both the Toyota Camry and the Accord - and with both I4 and V6 engines. My conclusiomn was that if one wanted a V6, it is better to go with a Camry. For an I4, the Accord is a better car. My only gripe - offer the Accord V6 with a manual tranny, and I will not even think about a Camry !! While the car is awesome for most practical purposes, the ride is a bit on the "jumpy" side for 4+ hour trips. The "premium" stereo is a little under- powered; and while the seats seem a bit stiff, they are great for long-distance drives - as they offer excellent support. Bapcha

  • Not a Luxury car, but nice for the price - 2002 Honda Accord
    By -

Traded a 1999 Accord EX 4-cyl for a 2002 EX V-6 at closeout. Had seen internet pictures of new style 03, hated rear styling (still do!). Like improvements in 02 vs. 99: 6-CD in dash, better stereo, side airbags, better seat support in lumbar, auto climate control, better looking tail lights. 4 minor problems noted after delivery; only sunroof required 2 visits (noise, fitment). Car sometimes makes weird moaning sound like sick cow for up to 8 hours after shutdown; not taken to dealer yet. Engine power good; noise level of engine OK, gas mileage average (21-26), at least it uses regular; car has worse than average wind, tire, and road noise; handles great but very stiff city and hwy ride.
