This Year's Model Updates:

Honda has added a new trim level for 2002, the SE. The Accord SE is based on the LX four-cylinder coupe or sedan trim level with an automatic transmission. Features setting the SE apart from LX models include an upgraded audio system, a driver seat power height adjustment, interior wood grain trim, antilock brakes, remote keyless entry and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, bland personality, stiff highway ride.

Ive been a Honda owner since 1986. Moved up to the EX-V6 with some reservations due to sticker price but got a really good deal I couldnt pass up. On the way home from the dealer that is 125 miles from my home my wife thought the car wasnt running right. It took a few days to determine but sure enough there is a major acceleration problem that has gotten worse over the 3 weeks of ownership. Had the car in the shop three times and Tech Support at Honda cant figure out the problem. The jurys still out on how American Honda will correct the problem but I think another car would be in order.

A relible, functional mid-sized car, but not suitable for taller drivers. It has sufficient pickup for todays driving.

Accord is an excellent value car. No doubt, its the most reliable, dependable car and has great resell value. If you are looking to buy an Accord. Good choice. Go for it. Cant go wrong. Get the EX-V6 if you can. I must say I regret for not getting the EX-V6 as my wifes. The reason I picked up the LX-V6 because its less $$ and its in the lot. From my point of view and experience, the EX-V6 worths every extra penny and its a more enjoinable car. If you decide to go with 4 cycl. model, get the SE for best bang for $$.

The leather is nice and supple, decent leg room but not perfect for tall guys like me 65". Decent stereo. Very nice steering wheel controls for the stereo and cruise control. Nice sized trunk for a small car. A couple fo things I would change, door opening width. Only opens to about 45 degrees so makes it difficult to get into and out of at times. Front seat needs to travel aft more. I wasnt too happy with Hondas decision not to contribute to any of the relief effort in NYC or DC. GM, Ford, DaimlerChrysler and a couple of others contributed but I read that Honda didnt raise a finger to help even after psoting some of their best sales months to date in the USA during 2001.

So far the car runs like a champ but it does not take off like a sports car.

  • Solid But Uninspiring - Accord EX 5-spd - 2002 Honda Accord

My Accord is dead-solid reliable, but the driving experience is plain-vanilla and road noise is a problem. The ride is relatively quiet on smooth pavement, but when the macadam gets coarse, it sets up quite a roar in the passenger compartment. Ive experienced poor road-noise isolation in other Honda products, including a relatives Acura. My Accord also is generating a disappointing number of rattles and squeaks. Fit and finish otherwise are very good, and the quality of the interior materials is superb. If reliability and economical operation are what youre after, this is your car. If youre looking for pulse-quickening performance and silent running, look elsewhere.

It may be plain but the Accord is consistant and reliable. You would be developing a meaningful relationship with you local dealerships due to repairs and breakdowns. This was the best value I could find at $18799.

  • Overall Great Car - 2002 Honda Accord

I bought a Honda because I drive a lot and I wanted good reliable transportation. The car has a great transmission shifts very smooth. It also has very good pickup for a 4 cylinder engine.

  • Good but clunky clutch - 2002 Honda Accord

Stylish and easy to handle. A good replacement for a 1988 MX-6. Nice interior features. Maybe a little under- powered.

  • Great looking, affordable, - 2002 Honda Accord

Cool looking car, especially in the blue. Ive only had it for 2 weeks & havent heard any rattles & nothing has fallen off (the main problems in the other reviews, they mustve just gotten lemons). Great controls lay-out, esp. the steering mounted audio controls. Shouldve made all seat controls powered, not just height. Also, you have to reach to grab the seatbelt. Moonroof should open more than just 3/4 of the way. I want an ashtray for trash. Also, need memory seat on drivers side to allow access to rear seats. Ride is nice as long as you dont treat the 4-cylinder as if you owned the 6-cylinder. 3 people in the back is not that comfortable.
