This Year's Model Updates:

Honda has added a new trim level for 2002, the SE. The Accord SE is based on the LX four-cylinder coupe or sedan trim level with an automatic transmission. Features setting the SE apart from LX models include an upgraded audio system, a driver seat power height adjustment, interior wood grain trim, antilock brakes, remote keyless entry and 15-inch alloy wheels.

Pros:
  • Great build quality, spacious interior, peppy yet clean engines, comfortable seats, excellent resale value, reputation for bulletproof reliability.
Cons:
  • Everybody drives one, bland personality, stiff highway ride.

  • Great choice! - 2002 Honda Accord

I think this Accord is one of the best vehicles I have owned. It has a great ride and is very comfortable. I looked at several other cars (Acura, Toyota, and Nissan) and for the price it just couldnt be beat.

I bought this car for $15,700 in August and, quite expectedly, have experienced no problems to date. The car is suprisingly spacious (my 88 Accord was about the size of an 02 Civic 4- door). Although only 150 hp, the 5- speed enables decent acceleration. For a car that wont leave you stranded on the highway, you cant beat the price (though the DX/VP is probably a better bargain if you can handle rolling up your own windows). Very easy to drive.

A 5-speed that almost shifts itself. Smooth is the word. Handles well, but 16" performance tires should be an option.

I have had my Honda for 5 months now and its been great except for 1 major issue. My gas milage. 90 percent of my driving is strictly highway and I have not gotten over 19.5 mpg. I even filled up on the highway and topped it off when i got off. I got 20.4 mpg. I have had it back to the dealer and was told nothing was wrong that the car has to break in. Ive got 6000 miles and it should be broken in. Why then is the car advertised at 22 - 28 mpg

Overall a great, reliable car. Ive never had any problems with it and it now has 53k on it. Handles very well and gets good gas mileage. Its not the most exciting car to drive, but it gets me from point a to b. Upgraded to rims instead of hubcaps and it is a nice touch. The eternal blue is a very pretty color and I have received many comments on it. Trunk spoiler is a must. The 4 cyl could have more power, doesnt really have a lot of power when accelerating. Cloth seats are still in good shape as well as carpet and floor mats.

A nice car that has lived up to Hondas reputation of reliability so far. Very comfortable front seats for long commutes. Sound system is a little weak.

  • RATTLES!!! - 2002 Honda Accord

SQUEAKS: The car has a bunch of rattles coming from the sunroof area. Honda mechanics have ignored this. They say its part of the new model intros. where you get such things. Well, the squeaks should not happen on a car this price!! I had a Toyota Corolla for 15 years and 200,000 miles running thru my years in college. NEVER (even today) have I heard a squeak or rattle! ACCELERATION: WEAK. NO torque.

  • 5 speed V6 please.. - 2002 Honda Accord

No issues with it and the performance is decent.

  • Good but not Great - 2002 Honda Accord

I will admit I have only owned the car for 2 months now, but I have some complaints. Passing power is almost a joke. My 2002 stratus would blow the doors off this thing. I am almost afraid to pass in it. This V-6 seems to be powerless in the top end. My fuel mileage is not so great either. On long trips averaging 65mph I only get 25-26 mpg. The dodge got 28-29 with the V6. Other than that we love the car. Climate control is a must have. Being able to see out of your car is a plus. If you dont know what I mean drive a stratus. Having a large trunk opening is great as well. Hopfully the milage will improve over time.
