This Year's Model Updates:

The big news is the arrival of the A4 Cabriolet, a fetching drop-top version of the A4 sedan. Initially, the company will offer only one drivetrain choice -- front-wheel drive with the 3.0-liter V6 engine and continuously variable transmission. Expect to see a 1.8T version midway through the model year and a 3.0 quattro Cab by October 2003. No word yet on the possibility of a manual transmission. As if this weren't enough, Audi plans to release a coupe version of the A4 in early 2003. The rest of the A4 lineup benefits from equipment upgrades. Leather is now optional on all 1.8T models, as are 12-way power front seats. All 3.0s will come swathed in leather, with more deluxe leather optional. Previous stand-alone options for the 3.0, including xenons and satellite steering wheel controls, have been swept up into the Premium Package. A new cold weather package includes seat heaters and a ski sack, and 17-inch all-season tires are a stand-alone extra.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive, classy interiors laden with amenities, stable handling.
Cons:
  • Price goes up quickly with options, engines a little short on low-end torque.

  • Near- Perfect Car - 2003 Audi A4

Handling quality is superb! Quattro eliminates slipping on fresh snow, hardpack and ice. Xenon headlights provide unmatched night visability. Cockpit comfort for 62" 225 pound driver needs improvement. Center platform rubs on right knee. Driver left arm rest not very comfortable Premium spoke wheels quickly gather snow and ice which destroys wheel balance all around until the vehicle is stopped and the material physically removed. Aside from these small issues, the car is safe, exiting and well worth the money.

  • Great handling...poor reliability - 2003 Audi A4

Ive owned this A4 for 2 years now and I am still not sure about Audi. I really like the car handling in all conditions. The Quattro system is excellent in all conditions. However, the engine power together with the auto transmission feels short on acceleration ability. Gas mileage could be better (23 mpg overall) for a car this size. I was disappointed with the reliability of this car but even more with the ability from Audi dealerships to find the issues. They replaced the throttle assembly 3 times (!) before thinking the issue could come from somewhere else (cracked plastic cover that messed the ECM box). I also had to replace the steering rack (leak) and two noisy wheel bearings (rear).

I took my time to pick up this car. I had a 3 series 97 bmw and was a diehard bimmer owner. Then it came time to buy another car. I tried the new bmw 3 series, the Infiniti G35, the Nissan Altima, and the Audi A4. I kept on going back to the A4, because I loved everything about it. From its sporty looks, to its great performance, as well as its comfort. Theres no beating the price for it also.

What an excellent car!!! Although it doesnt have the 200+ HP, it sure drives like it does. I recommend this car to anyone. Also, excellent service from all the dealerships.

  • This car has been a dream - 2003 Audi A4

Bought this car in July 2003, it is now Sept 2003, and have 7,700 miles on it already. Not a single problem and it is a dream to drive on highways and back roads. Recent heavy downpours were plowed through with nary a whimper. The attention to detail is remarkable.

  • Just OK! - 2003 Audi A4

I have had my Audi for 2 years and it has been to the dealership for multiple problems 4 times and it needs to go back again. From interior peeling to ignition coils, it really has been one thing after another, mostly little things though. I hate the fact that the 2nd cup holder is in the center console, pretty useless! However, I have to say that I really love this car. It is a smooth ride and it can virtually get through snow and ice with very little slipping if any at all. The Bose stereo puts out great sound. It handles corners great. Could have a little more power, but its not bad. Will get another A4 but it will definitely be the newer 2009 model. Hopefully theyll get it right in 2009.

Ive been wanting an A4 for years and finally have it. I love the car. Fun to drive and very stylish. Great value for the price. But some design elements are strange when everything else is so well done. Ventilation system doesnt allow for fresh air intake, parking brake is under console, seat adjustments are old school, and with all those lights on the dash, why isnt there one on the cruise control so you can see it in the dark?

  • Best Auto Ive Ever Owned - 2003 Audi A4

I am am currently very satisfied with my Audi A4 1.8T Quattro sedan. The handling is precise, especially in foul weather, and gives an overall feeling of confidence. Quattro is what sealed the deal. The cabin is well appointed and comfortable. Also love my dolphin gray metallic paint. There are only two other Audi owners in my small city, so my A4 gets a lot of looks... even from teens. My family is proud that we own an Audi.

First of all, this is the worst car Ive ever owned. Second of all, the worst car I ever owned...now you got my point. At 57k miles replaced the CVT transmission ($8K), CV boot 4x, headlight every 3-6months, it goes on. Never will ever buy or own an Audi again, worst than Yugo and Id rather drive a Pacer.
