This Year's Model Updates:

The big news is the arrival of the A4 Cabriolet, a fetching drop-top version of the A4 sedan. Initially, the company will offer only one drivetrain choice -- front-wheel drive with the 3.0-liter V6 engine and continuously variable transmission. Expect to see a 1.8T version midway through the model year and a 3.0 quattro Cab by October 2003. No word yet on the possibility of a manual transmission. As if this weren't enough, Audi plans to release a coupe version of the A4 in early 2003. The rest of the A4 lineup benefits from equipment upgrades. Leather is now optional on all 1.8T models, as are 12-way power front seats. All 3.0s will come swathed in leather, with more deluxe leather optional. Previous stand-alone options for the 3.0, including xenons and satellite steering wheel controls, have been swept up into the Premium Package. A new cold weather package includes seat heaters and a ski sack, and 17-inch all-season tires are a stand-alone extra.

Pros:
  • Available all-wheel drive, classy interiors laden with amenities, stable handling.
Cons:
  • Price goes up quickly with options, engines a little short on low-end torque.

  • Reliable and fun for 180,000 miles! - 2003 Audi A4
    By -

Ive been driving this car 120 miles round trip to work every day along with taking the family all around town and it has been fantastic! Ive done nothing but scheduled maintenance over the last eight years. And its not your average station wagon. I scream by those monster SUVs on the high ways. The best part is driving in the snow. On a day when every car was unable to get up a steep road, only I reached the top out of about 50! My only disappointment is that I cant replace this car since the Avant no longer comes in stick. Thank god I can rely on this car for many more miles!

  • Love my wagon - 2003 Audi A4

My BMW X5 had constant niggling breakdowns. The A4: otally reliable. Fantastic acceleration. The car will go as fast as you can stand to drive it, in any weather, although with a little less grace (but more traction) than my ex-328i BMW. Wonderful and highly adjustable seats. Not roomy in back, but great for post-kids. Very well built (no defects, and I havent seen my dealership since purchase!) Gas mileage, which was mediocre at first, has improved over 7K miles to what Audi says on sticker. Climate control needs to be futzed with to stay comfortable in changing outside conditions. Awesome brakes! Overall experience: fantastic with just very minor quibbles.

  • Pretty, but not worth it - 2003 Audi A4

I bought this car used with 50,000 miles. I loved it for the first couple of months, until things started going wrong. I had to replace all the ignition coils, fuel pump, check valves, broken moonroof, broken window regulator, broken cupholder. Oh yea, and just a few months ago there was a fire, cost over $5000 worth of damage under the hood, thank goodness insurance covered it. They said either an ignition coil or the wiring harness had a malfunction. When my coolant tank cracked and wouldnt hold coolant, I decided it was time to trade it in. I loved the car, but I cant afford to keep fixing it and I dont want to be worried all the time about something breaking or catching on fire.

  • This car is sooo amazing! - 2003 Audi A4

I just purchased this car, and it is a blast to drive! I cant get enough of it. Its got a ton of zip, and can stop on a dime. It handles great, and the stereo system is really good too. And thats without the Bose. I would reccomend this car to everyone!

  • 2003 A4... My "December to Remember" - 2003 Audi A4
    By -

I drove everything in this category and always came back to the A4 as the best of the bunch. I wanted the 3.0 V6 but couldnt justify the expense. I purchased the 1.8T and am glad I did. In real world driving the 1.8T really is great. It may not have the peak HP of the V6 or IS300 but the torque curve is so flat it just flies up hills with ease.... and more HP is just a chip away. Compared to the IS300 it has a MUCH nicer interior, beautifully executed, with superb gauges, lighting and ergonomics, plus more rear seat room, fold-down seats and 35% larger trunk. Sorry Lexus, the A4 is my "December to Remember."

  • Just Dont Call it a "Wagon" - 2003 Audi A4

This is a fabulous car. Audi really raised the bar with their latest version of the A4 . First of all, it is one if the best looking mass-produced vehicles going. (Why would anyone buy the A6? Theres not THAT much more room.)Its design elements are in perfect balance - inside & out. The sport suspension works great (its hunkered-down stance looks fabulous too). Very, very nice car. Get one.

This car is amazing! It provides everything it claims. It is fun to drive, sexy, and much more car for your money than the competition. Audi will be the brand of all my future vehicles.

  • 2002 A4 1.8T Review - 2003 Audi A4
    By -

The 2002 A4 1.8T avant is our 3rd Audi since 1999 and first wagon. It has surpassed expectations. Functionality includes under-seat and side pocket storage, and a second cargo floor under the main floor; plus many hooks, nets, and pockets. The f/r power outlets are extremely well placed. There is even a built-in retractable cargo partition. Even the glove box has shelves! Ours has the sport package, heated f/r seats, convenience package w/moonroof, as well as cloth seats, which wear well and heat faster than leather. We also HIGHLY recommend the xenon lights. The feel of the headlight switch and radio knobs are well worth the price of admission.

  • Superb Quality, design - 2003 Audi A4

An astonishingly refined auto. The design is sublime inside and out. Very smooth V6. One can get very emotional about a car like this.

  • 2003 A4 - 1.8T Quattro - 5 MT - 2003 Audi A4
    By -

The car is extremely stable, quiet and fun to drive. AWD is the icing on the cake. A lot of people complain about the 1.8T engine as not "powerful enough"; I contend they should have bought the 3.0 V6 then. The 1.8T provides more than ample power and has plenty of go.. but its not a 220 HP v- 6. Compared to other entry level luxury cars, I feel the 1.8T with 5 speed manual is one of the better offerings. Ride and handling are very impressive. If your looking at any entry level german cars, you should at least drive an Audi. Its not for everyone, but I sure do like mine
