Best bang for your buck - 1996 Toyota Corolla
By Billy Golden - August 31 - 6:17 pmBought this car about half a year ago with 178k miles for $1,550. May have overpaid slightly, but the car was maintained very well. Some say the clutch is on its way out, considering it is still the ORIGINAL, but I believe it shifts great still. Now has 186k with original clutch. Frequent oil changes, tires replaced, other than that, havent had to put a dollar into the car. Besides an air filter. 15 bucks. I use this car to deliver pizzas. Bumpy dirt roads are frequent. The suspension is fantastic. Driving 80+ MPH feels like youre going 50. No drifting left or right, drives straight as an arrow. Fantastic get up for a little 1.8l engine. Cant suggest this car enough to you. If you find one with the 5 speed 1.8l, dont sleep on it. The gas mileage is awesome, reliability is even better. Hope to get it to 250 on the original clutch, but well see how that goes. ;)

"The Peoples Car" of the 90s - 1996 Toyota Corolla
By FanOfDr.Saito - August 1 - 11:53 amThis has been a wonderful car to own & maintain; my wife bought it new when she was in college, and I got it after we married. Its "the little import that could"; I have over 160K mi. on it, have used it in ways the designers never intended (truck, off-road vehicle, long-range transport), and it *just keeps running*. I am able to squeeze 36 MPG combined with thrifty road habits. The body has its scars from the parking lot and highway rubble, but I dont abuse the drivetrain or suspension, and give fluids as recommended. I love this little guy; hes a loyal, modest and well-mannered steed. I will likely drive this car until it is killed in a wreck/earthquake (CA resident, of course).

A Great Car - 1996 Toyota Corolla
By M. Lynn - March 3 - 3:03 amI have been looking to buy a new car for some time now but nothing shows the reliability that the 1996 corolla does. My car has almost 170,000 miles on it and it has never broken down. Have replaced brakes and tires from wear and tear but that is it. I dont even change the oil as often as I probably should but the car is a champ. Pick-up isnt the best and its very loud (vibrations/rattles/outside noise). No special features, no power options. But in the end probably the best 3000 dollars spent. Plan on driving it until it cant drive any longer.

BUY IT!!! - 1996 Toyota Corolla
By lukebecker - February 1 - 8:42 amThis is the second one I owned and I must say I love them. 100% reliable. Always starts. Almost 200K on it and still purrrs like a kitten. Nice speed out of them too. I would tell anyone that if the price is right go for it. I had the one before and it lasted 250K until I let someone use it. Clutch was gone when they came back. Didnt think it was worth the fix.

Best investment ever - 1996 Toyota Corolla
By Kelly - December 2 - 6:26 amI bought this car with only 17,000 miles on it and drove it into the ground with 180,000. The only thing I replaced outside of nomral oil changes, brake discs and tires was the radiator and that was at the very end of the life of this car. I t got amazing gas mileage and it zipped in and out of traffic. It does not have a lot of get up and go, and it is a very basic design but this is a great starter car for a new driver!!

A good reliable car - 1996 Toyota Corolla
By Dan - July 10 - 4:16 pmI purchased this vehicle off the lot brand new, never had any major problems just regular maintenance and general upkeep changed a few batteries, timing belt after 100K and struts on the 150k mark it needed it. When it was paid off I just used the money I saved over a year and spruced up the engine. This car has become my favorite and of course well cared for still classy (did I mention Paid for). I started sprucing it up now everyone wants to buy it - sorry no sale here. I tricked it now its completely mine. Have to thank TRD Japan for its good supplies in the Asian Market for this vehicle. USA did not supply the 93 to 96 corollas well... stylish gas saver and good ole lil car

Best Little Wagon - 1996 Toyota Corolla
By LongTermHappyOwner - June 16 - 7:03 pmhad this reliable and peppy wagon for ten years; no major defects or problems; easy to park; good visibility; good loading capacity; good leg room in back; upholstery wears well; std stereo mediocre; gas mileage appx 26-28 city; 28-30 freeway; would have bought another but dont make anymore; drivers seat and headrest are comfortable for my neck and frame (56").
