This Year's Model Updates:

Want air conditioning, power windows/locks/mirrors and variable intermittent wipers on the CE? Buy the Value Package. To get remote keyless entry or a power driver seat on the LE, you must buy a Value Package. A power moonroof and an in-dash six-disc CD changer require the Leather Value Package on XLE models. LE V6 models get daytime running lights standard, while JBL audio is optional on all LEs. The anti-theft system with engine immobilizer is restricted to XLE V6 models.

Pros:
  • Toyota reliability, incredibly powerful and refined optional V6, excellent resale value.
Cons:
  • High prices, uncomfortable seats, forgettable styling.

When it comes to reliability whats the first thing to come to mind? Toyota. I purchased my Camry (ce 4-cyl) May of 2001 and with 39,000 miles its running smooth like the day i drove it off the lot.

  • be care of the oil consumption - 2001 Toyota Camry

the camrys from 97-2002 had a design flaw, which you have to change oil more frequent than the manual said. the manual recommends you to change oil between 5k-7.5k, no way you can wait for that long. because the camry was running at higher temp to reach good fuel economy, therefore, the oil can loose its lubrication ability faster, so i would say, change it at 2.5k, or you will have a problem called oil gelling. search google.com by toyota oil gelling as key word, you will know what is going on. Overall, it is a good vehecle. but not the model between 97-02. you have to change oil more often.

  • Gallery Edition - 2001 Toyota Camry

Got this 2001 V6 Gallery Edition Camry as a gift from an aging relative. Got it in 2009 with only 20,000 miles. Edmunds should have mentioned the Gallery Edition. Perfect condition. Excellent JBL! sound, solid V6 power. Bulletproof reliability like all Toyotas. I do all the scheduled maintenance. Car is very easy to drive, but not particularly fun. But, what do you expect, its a Camry. Its like the AK-47 of cars, everyone has one and it never lets you down!

  • Unbeatable value. - 2001 Toyota Camry

I purchased my 2001 Toyota Camry LE 4 cyl. in 2003 with 27000 miles on the odometer. I have driven this car for 9 years without a major repair and only done maintenence, brakes, timing belt and tuneups. The odometer now reads 171000 miles and still going strong. It still has the original exhaust. i find the seats a little uncomfortable and hard but othere than that I would give this car a 10!

  • Good Car - 2001 Toyota Camry

This car never failed me in mechanical ways. The tires that they give have no grip at all. On snow and rain you slide all over the place. I wish they had ABS optional. Also traction control wil be nice. If it had two of those options this car will be perfect for the price and quality of the car.

  • AWESOME CAR! - 2001 Toyota Camry

I love, love, love this car! Its my first car that I just bought last October for a great price of $3000. It has over 200,000 miles on it and is still going strong! It is so smooth to drive, I feel like Im just gliding down the road. I was looking dot something reliable, small, and good gas mileage, I got it all with my Camry! My dad has driven it across the state of Kentucky multiple times without a problem. I dont ever want to get rid of this car. I didnt want something that looked too "old lady like", which this car is not. Its stylish enough for me and very comfortable to go long distances in. I would trust it to take me anywhere.

  • Not So Enamored With Toyota - 2001 Toyota Camry

After my wife had owned, and still owns, a Toyota, I bought a Certified Used Toyota (2001 XLE Camry V6) with 61,000 miles. Week after I had it the battery died. Since May 2007, I am going through my third caliper repair (2 on the left, one on the right)which has cost me over $1,000 to fix. Just had to replace timing belt. Seems I am constantly shelling out money to fix things. Seriously thinking about dumping this one. I might trade in on another Toyota, but my experience has not been great. I believe my caliper issue is a design flaw and that I shouldnt have to keep paying to fix

  • Another Toyota! - 2001 Toyota Camry

This is the second Toyota we bought. We have another old Tercel and it is running great with some maintanence. So we trusted Toyota and bought this Camry. It is running great, smooth and quiet. I am thinking of buying another Toyota once I get a raise! :)

  • Excellent car - 2001 Toyota Camry

This is a Japanese built car and bulletproof. I had my fill of edgy design and unreliability (i.e. American cars)so went for the conservative look. It has handled every condition I could throw at it and it didnt hurt to have the traction control, ABS, etc. What has made this the best car buying and ownership experience I have ever had (in 40 years of driving) is the dealership. An unbeatable combination.

  • My Poor Mans Lexus - 2001 Toyota Camry

Ive owned two Camry models so far.The first was a 98 v6 manual that I LOVED. It gets totaled of course. So, I went out and bought the same car but newer: 2001 v6 manual LE model. Its got comfortable leather seats, sunroof that looks slick when tilted, and a nice wood trim package. It feels like a Lexus ES. Heres the best part. ITS PAID OFF. Im in college, so I dont have alot of money. I wanted a little style, performance, and reliability without a monthly note. This car was the answer. I got style and comfort with the wood trim, leather, and 25% tint, performance with the workhorse v6 that surprising powerful with a manual shift, and reliability that is the best. Bought the car for 2 grand with 153k, drove it everywhere, including 1000 miles on a road trip. Only needed a few average repairs for its age, which were cheap. Engine/transmission bulletproof. Buy one of these if your a student, or if you dont have alot of money but want a paid-off reliable vehicle that has some style.
