This Year's Model Updates:

The 2.5 RS now has drive-by-wire electronic throttle control and a new four-speed automatic transmission. The dashboard center stack/console has been redesigned with improved cupholders and fancier metallic trim. The 2.5 RS wagon, which boasts the RS sedan's upgraded suspension tuning, alloy wheels and sport seats, has replaced last year's 2.5 TS wagon. The WRX picks up automatic climate control, redesigned alloy wheels and body-color ground effects. Smoke-tinted headlight lenses and revised exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Tight rear quarters, limited availability of side airbags.

  • What a great toy! - 2005 Subaru Impreza

After 7k of driving I am still to see 28mpg. Actual between 20 and 26. A couple of instances of gas pedal abuse will drop it to 20. Normal travel is 140 M of hwy each day. Speeds between 70 and 75 = 26. 80+ < 24Seats and suspension are great for cornering and performance driving, but have a negative impact after 10hrs of constant driving (pain begins at 4hrs).An extremely positive car to drive. Great feedback via controls. Great breaking. Have found a tendency to understeer under heavy braking. Tends to oversteer under gas. This works great to tighten a turn up when pushing it. Paid just over 23K-

  • Maybe the best all around car - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

I just got back from the dealer for a recall. Yep, after 96,000 miles this is the first time I took it to the dealer. What a great car. Ive totally abused this thing (from landscaping materials to my 4-60 lb dogs) and it begs for more. Ive only done routine maintenance (tires at 50k, oil every 3k) and its as strong as ever. It thrives in bad weather (torrential downpours here in Miami and trips to the snow in NC). I get not great, but definitely good gas mileage (21-22 city, 26-27 hwy) and it has plenty of room for just about anything I need. Yes...you should buy one. I expect to keep mine for well over 5 more years and 100k miles.

  • Best 35k evar!! - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

From a technical standpoint the car stands alone from anything even $20,000 more expensive than this car. Its a top notch vehicle with top notch technology proven in WRC time and time again. Finally, a true racecar with state plates makes its way to the family man. Its both fun and practical. I can take my 1yr old daughter in the back with a car seat and drive it just as nicely as Id drive my Grandmas car. I drop her off, stow the seat in the trunk, dawn my helmet and head straight for the track. Best car evar!!!

  • Just wait until you downshift... - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

Patiently waiting until I can drive this car past 3000 RPMs. Great car, smooth acceleration, awesome handling, with very clean exterior design. This car is perfect for driving safe, and also lets the person have fun when they want to downshift and have the turbo kick in. Not driving past 3k before turbo spools, I can push it to close to 29-30 mpg. yet when your curising at 3000, downshift and the turbo pulls you forward....GREAT FUN!

  • These cars are super fast. - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

This has to be the fastest and most fun car Ive ever driven or owned. In the summer its like the car is stuck to the pavement like a magnet. In the winter it is even more fun, with 300 horses and full time awd you wish there were more turns and more snow.

  • A performance bargain - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

The STi has the perfomance of a BMW M3 for about half the price. The all-wheel drive with front and rear limited-slip differentials is awesome in the snow (when the car is equipped with winter tires). You cant get a better performing, safer, more reliable car for the money.

  • Handles like no other - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

I am a loyal fan of Subaru, our old impreza was a 97 outback sport. This is my first purchase of a turbo. We are pleased with the WRX as usual with handling and fuel economy w/ cruise hwy. 29.5 mpg @ 65- 70mph! City 23mpg. I will own nothing but Subaru.

  • love it! - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

this is great fun to drive: very sneaky, as it doesnt look like the great little sports car it really is. Handling is absolutely tight at really high speed on questionable roads, the turbo kicking in is a lovely thing indeed. This is the best fun Ive had in several years!
