This Year's Model Updates:

Subaru completely redesigns the Impreza and brings a high-performance turbocharged WRX variant into the fold to offer enthusiasts the opportunity to drive a powerful, all-wheel-drive sport sedan without breaking the bank. All Imprezas benefit from improvements in performance, refinement and safety. Along with the Impreza's trip upmarket come revised trim levels consisting of two sedans (WRX and 2.5 RS) and three wagons (WRX, Outback Sport and 2.5 TS Sport Wagon). The coupe body style has been dropped.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel drive, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from.
Cons:
  • No more coupe, extroverted styling may be too much for some.

  • Scary fast but needs refinement - 2002 Subaru Impreza

I love this car based on performance and looks. Once you overcome the turbo lag, this thing stands up and darn-near lifts of the pavement as it flies away. Unlike Front-wheel drive pocket rockets, the power transfer to the ground is smooth and devoid of torque steer. With side and rear spoiler, plus the standard fender flares, it looks great...hunkered to the ground and read to roll.

  • My car Spike - 2002 Subaru Impreza

I bought my WRX in April of 2001 which was the first year they were produced. When I first saw it, I thought that from the front it looked like a bulldog and since every bulldog I have ever known was named spike I named my WRX "Spike" and it immeditatly became a member of the family. After three years and 35000 miles it has never let me down. In that time it has developed only one minor problem: a slight gasoline leak that was quickly taken care of. I know that when it comes time to trade Spike, that its going to be like having to put down your pet.

Powerful and Fun to drive. Reasonable gas mileage (25 mpg) Priced right. Quality is very good. Great in the snow. What more can a driver want?

Ive liked Subarus (all of them) since I worked at a Subaru dealership. I bought mine after I left the dealership because none of my other vehicles could meet the performance. They handle better than any other car Ive been in, and although the ATi and Evo are faster, for the price and ease of the mods it is a good deal. Reliability is that of a Toyota and the performance of a sports car.

  • Try NOT to buy one after you drive one!! - 2002 Subaru Impreza

This is one of the fastest cars on the road and yet you get the room of a wagon and the comfort of all wheel drive. This was one of the worst winters in CT and I made it to work on time every day and got home safely. Now that the snow is gone, I can really put the turbo to work! It is sooo fast. I dare you to drive this car and NOT buy it.

What i like best is the performance

  • Piece of junk - 2002 Subaru Impreza

Even though the car has a lot of power, I dont feel the car is responsive enough. The seat a uncomfortable, when you drive long distance you want to stop the car and get out for a stretch. I really dont like the turbo, but I bought the car because its fast at the starting point. No max speed, I found the car to be like any other car Ive driven before, like the celica.

  • Great, fun car! - 2002 Subaru Impreza

This car is an absolute blast to drive, without compromising utility or day to day usefulness. My WRX has been completely reliable and never had a hint of a problem. Interior is good but not weighed down with silly luxury stuff. Exterior styling is quirky at first but you will appreciate the uniqueness of it. This is a truly amazing car for the money

  • A Lot Of Car For The Money! - 2002 Subaru Impreza

Recently purchased my WRX from a friend who owned it since 25K. Car now has 91K. Previous owner only did regular service with no other issues. This is the type of vehicle that you have to know what you are buying. It doesnt do anything spectacular but does do everything well. Power is adequate, interior is decent, looks are unique, MPG is good for a performance-based car, parts/service is reasonable, and resale is pretty good if you purchase used. I bought this car mainly for MPG as my other vehicle is an F150. And for $7000 I do not think I could get more car for the money. The car had already been upgraded to 17" wheels so it looks even better. Otherwise the car is completely stock.

  • Super WRX wagon - 2002 Subaru Impreza

I bought my Blue WRX wagon because I liked the way it performed in the WRC rallys. The car was my favorite and was a stout performer. Id still have it if it wasnt for the super stiff clutch wearing my left knee out. Replaced it with a 2005 RS wagon
