Overview & Reviews
The 2008 Subaru Impreza has been completely redesigned. Roomier and more refined on the inside, the restyled Impreza is meant to appeal to a more mainstream audience. Sedan and hatchback body styles are again available, as are the turbocharged WRX and ultra-high-performance WRX STI.
- Missing some higher-end convenience features, behind-the-times transmissions, below-average fuel economy, sleepy styling except for extroverted STI.

My 1st Subie - 2008 Subaru Impreza
By kuling23 - July 14 - 3:33 pmThis car is great. One of the best deals if your looking for something in the 20-21k range. Very comfortable and very quiet ride. Suspension should be a little titer on corners but other than that, I love the car. Going on 4k miles now and have avg 24-25 consistently. Had one snow storm and the car didnt flinch once. The vdc works great and kept the car calm under snowy cornering. The seats fold flat down and make trips to lowes and hd a sinch. And u can hook up roof racks to the top with the pre-cut sockets on the rails.

Perfect pass - 2008 Subaru Impreza
By SpeedyPetey14 - June 2 - 10:00 amDriving the STI is an unmatched experience, especially. l compared to the Impreza w/o turbo. I previously owned an Impreza Outback Sport and always craved something more, the STI gave me that and then some. The SI drive and center differential settings are a great way to "customize" your driving experience every time you jump in. Its truly a Rocky Mountain toy.

Every morning I want to drive to work.. - 2008 Subaru Impreza
By halcyon100 - March 3 - 12:53 pmThis car is fantastic. The clutch is a little heavy/precise, but its fun to learn the nuances. The ride, even with STi pink springs is smooth and predictable. With the springs, the stock roll is gone. Mileage is surprising - about 25mpg, and Im suburban commuter, 28 miles/day at 40mph avg. Stay out of boost, and itll give you economy. I look forward to driving this car every day. Its noticable, but not showy. Its fast, but not impractical. Its comfortable, but not plush. Heated seats are always great in cold climates - I wish these extended to the upper back more. Some light mods make this car look/sound phenomenal. Slightly lower, tint, sport grill, cat- back (SPT).

Great New Car - Body Rust after 7 Months - 2008 Subaru Impreza
By cm236 - February 14 - 4:46 pmI purchased a new Impreza last November, this is the Canadian Sports Model (similar to the US sold "2.5i with Premium Package, VDC". A great car to drive, and have thoroughly enjoyed it. We had a severe winter that had snow on the ground over a 6 month period - and this is definitely a fantastic car for these conditions. Only negative was when I noticed rust on the rear panel (around the license plate) in a number of spots in June. The dealer has been very helpful and concurred that yes, this is rust, and this should not happen.

New Impreza outback sport - 2008 Subaru Impreza
By jeremy - February 5 - 7:36 pmWe have now owned this car for about a month, and have had time to fully evaluate the car aside from the maintenance. All in all, we are very satisfied with the vehicle and get about 23.5 miles to the gallon with 80% city driving. Highly recommend this vehicle.

My First Subaru, My Last Subaru - 2008 Subaru Impreza
By Paul - January 29 - 9:12 pmAs my title might indicate, I didnt have a very good Subaru experience. The WRX has good power and roadholding ability, however it doesnt have the Japanese car reliability that I was expecting. Ive owned Hondas, Mazdas, Fords, and even Chryslers all with manual transmissions. And this Subaru was the first car that Ive owned that needed a new transmission, at only 83k miles. Before needing a new transmission it was very hard to get into reverse, sometimes 1st, and even 2nd gear at times. After replacing the transmission, costing $4k, I have been able to get it into 1st and 2nd but reverse is still an experience. Other than that its had 5 safety recalls and has had a class-action lawsuit due to failure of the firewall spot welds. Im not a driver thats hard on vehicles, but I dont like vehicles that are hard on the drivers.

Almost completely satisfied - 2008 Subaru Impreza
By Curiousfish - December 26 - 11:50 pmHad the car since January. Having this car made my winter commute just a bit safer and easier. Now that the weather is warmer and the motor is more broken-in, I am getting better MPG. My mix is 60-70% highway and Im getting roughly 24-25MPG. Im not exactly the most calm of drivers either, I dont straight cruise too often. I havent had any problems w/ this car except for the paint which is rather thin.
