This Year's Model Updates:

The 2.5 RS now has drive-by-wire electronic throttle control and a new four-speed automatic transmission. The dashboard center stack/console has been redesigned with improved cupholders and fancier metallic trim. The 2.5 RS wagon, which boasts the RS sedan's upgraded suspension tuning, alloy wheels and sport seats, has replaced last year's 2.5 TS wagon. The WRX picks up automatic climate control, redesigned alloy wheels and body-color ground effects. Smoke-tinted headlight lenses and revised exterior colors round out the changes.

Pros:
  • A stout 227 horsepower in the WRX, all-wheel-drive grip, a variety of sedans and wagons to choose from, fun to drive.
Cons:
  • Tight rear quarters, limited availability of side airbags.

  • 05 Subie STi - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

It is an incredible car with awesome performanance. It has an acceptable ride for road trips, unless that trip has some fun roads to utilize the cars ability and make the trip really enjoyable. Being a 4 door sedan with a usuable trunk make it easy to live with as an everyday vehicle. The only negative experience Ive had with it so far, is it drew too much attention in a GM town and some clown there thought it would look better with a smiley face on the hood and keyed it. Anyone who is looking for a truly great automobile should consider the STi.

  • Simply Awesome - 2005 Subaru Impreza

I bought this to replace my Stage 2 Wrx Wagon. It simply amazed me how much more power the Sti has (my wagon was supposed to be around 270hp). The car has great dynamics- accel, braking, handling, and they all seem to go together. The exterior is aggressive, and the wing is obnoxious. I wish the car came with a front mount intercooler and that way you wouldnt have the massive hood scoop either. I prefer a more sleeper look, but the car stays true to its rally heritage with the scoop and the rear wing. Many upgrades are available, but the car is stupid fast already. Sometimes I sit in the car and think, "wow, I actually have an STi." Thats a great feeling

  • 5K miles and still smooth - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

Thought Id wait to get a few miles on it to see how time would temper my opinion. Im still loving the performance every day I drive it, and still look for reasons to get out and drive. Even though the tires are fairly soft, they dont show much significant wear after 5K miles for a performance tire, and the car still corners as tenaciously as when first driven. Road noise is present, but not overwhelming even as the tires have aged. Personally, I like the wing and think its part of the cars character (hot wheels full sized toy). Only thing I dont like is how it creates a blind spot if looking over the shoulder. This is a drivers car.

  • I am in love with this car - 2005 Subaru Impreza

I have been a huge fan of the 2000 impreza RS and was very disapointed with the re-designed exterior in 2002. Now, I have to say, I like the 2005 styling even more than both (even without the hood scoop). Not to mention that this car handles like its riding on rails and has plenty of power. This car is my first brand new car and I am a total subaru fanatic now. Also, this is one of the most inexpensive cars subaru makes. It was less expensive than some used 2002 WRXs and only a couple thousand more than a used 2001 RS I was looking at. Overall, I have fallen in love with this car and look forward to driving it everyday.

  • Perfect Car - 2005 Subaru Impreza

Ive had this car for 5 months now and have nothing but great things to say. It preforms like a champ. The wagon gives extra head room in the back seat and plenty of room to carry stuff in the back. Its the perfect car for anyone in a snowy environment or someone who just wants performance thatll make you smile ear to ear.

  • The Best WRX Yet! - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

I purchased one of the first 2005 WRXs in my local area, and boy am I satisfied. I am very young but even before I could drive I had my eyes on the WRX. The car is very sleek, and very sneaky. Upon launch it feels like any other four-cylinder until the turbo kicks in right before 3000rpm, then youre flying. The AWD provides perfect handling in any weather condition. The 227hp Boxer engine sounds quite muscular. This car catches the eye and fools the ignorant. GO TEST DRIVE ONE TODAY!

  • Great car, poor lumbar support - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

If youre looking for a fun-to-drive car thats inexpensive, yet fast "out of the box" -- look no further. Yes, an Evo is faster, but you can get a dealership down to $23/24K with research and careful choice of options. Also, I wonder if Mitsu Co. will be around in a decade. For anyone who has a long commute, I would heartily recommend buying lumbar support. Otherwise, after the 1K break-in period, this all-wheel drive turbo fun machine will have you grinning at every driving opportunity. That is, if you can drive a manual transmission. Im 6 foot with a 32 inch inseam, and have no problem fitting into the drivers seat. The pedals are set for heel-toe driving, so get tapered shoes.

  • Fast and FUN - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

I am a 22 year old male that loves this car. In February i picked up an 05 Sentra Spec V and that was fun ... for the first month. Then I wanted a turbo so I started looking and wasnt sure if I wanted a EVO MR or the STi. Glad I picked the STi; I have no regrets.

  • My 2.5RS w/ sport package - 2005 Subaru Impreza
    By -

I bought my white 2.5RS in March 2005. I love it. I drive it everyday. It is a practical car. Im still breaking in my engine and shift up before 4k rpm. The engine sounds great even under 4k RPM, the ride is smooth, and the handling is responsive. However, the launch from zero of this car seems to be soft ( I guess it is due to AWD torque distribution), and the braking is soft too. The braking is acceptable but NO where near impressive. I may upgrade the brake in the future. You dont get WRX or STI from this one, but you got an Impreza, too. Id proudly recommend this great car.

Ive had my WRX wagon for 2+ years, 20K miles. No repairs other than scheduled maintenance. Two minor factory recalls. Clutch feel is not the best and sometimes there is a little "judder" before car warms up. Some complain of turbo lag, but this is not a problem for me. Just keep the revs up and power is always there. Shifter could be smoother, especially into reverse. I hear short throw shifter is better.Handles very well and is fun to drive. Wagon design is very practical and with roof racks can haul lots of stuff for a car this size. Gas mileage 17 city 26 highway. This is a good car.
