Oil burner - burnt engine/valves. Awful - 2010 Subaru Impreza
By crtruthbtold - October 7 - 4:10 pmI bough (and I am now selling) my 2010 Subaru Impreza (Outback Sport). I bought it new, it burns oil. Ridiculous. All the maintenance and oil changes as required. In under 100K miles I had an oil leak develop and had to replace valve gasket -$$$ repair. less than 10K miles later I had a push rod bearing go because of oil burning! and now I have to buy a short block engine if I wanted to repair it. I am selling it for salvage for more than I expected as I refuse to sink good money after bad. At least I dont owe any money on it. This is the 2nd Subaru I have purchased with oil issues (the other was a turbo Baja - 4 burned valves while still under warranty in the first 36K miles).Stay away.

New Car Engine Vibration - 2010 Subaru Impreza
By Mike 5150 - February 25 - 11:53 pmI am very concerned about the engine vibration at idle on this car. It is very disconcerting to be sitting in a car with just over 1,000 miles on it and feel the engine vibrate. I called Service and the guy said that the Boxer engines tend to do this due to the alignment of the pistons. A look at the Subaru website says that a characteristic of the Boxster engine is REDUCED engine vibration. I look forward to presenting the Service adviser with this information tomorrow morning. Reliability is a big selling point for Subaru, but I am extremely concerned about mine.

2010 2.5 I Manual - 2010 Subaru Impreza
By okkphil1 - August 30 - 8:14 pmThis car burns a ton of oil and they will not fix it. It has to burn more than 1 quart every 1,200 miles or they will not fix it. I am unhappy with Subaru for this reason alone. I will not buy another Subaru or promote buying any of their cars. If something breaks or is flawed, like my engine, they wont make it right.

New impreza outback sport - 2010 Subaru Impreza
By malcolm - June 26 - 12:13 amFirst, why have two different vehicles both named, "outback"? With the impreza, you wind up getting Outback parts that dont fit your car. Cheap radio---10 speakers, if you can find them--Probably the worst sounding radio one will ever find in any automobile. Paint is so soft, just looking at it will start it to peel! Passenger seat is so low, it actually hides the passenger from view. Does not have the fit, finish and refinement of other cars in its class. You are purchasing a working-mans auto, for basic transportation. No thrills here, but the 170 HP engine is a bit surprising, due to his high torque #s. You get what you pay for....and this automobile is down market.

Total Failure of a Car - 2010 Subaru Impreza
By Dan Barry - May 13 - 6:38 amThe clutch on my 2.5i Subaru went out at 40k miles, the center armrest cracked, the side arm rests caved in, the trunk rattles and it burns oil like mad. Now the car is turning itself off intermittently while running, probably from a failed fuel pump. We are selling this car and getting a better vehicle. This has been the worst vehicle weve ever owned.

Disappointing Sti - 2010 Subaru Impreza
By flying finn - March 25 - 10:13 pmThe car was great to 4700 mile marker. Ringland failure downed car and it has been @ dealership for 3 weeks awaiting repair. Have read of widespread issues w/ engine which manufacturer is denying. I dont have much faith in the car when I get it back after this experience. WRC caliber STIs are a thing of the past when they are offered in factory guise.

Watch out for neck pain! - 2010 Subaru Impreza
By GDG - July 17 - 11:46 amI just purchased anew 2010 Subaru Impreza Outback and was really excited - first new car in over a decade. I had a Subaru in the 90s and loved it. My new car looks great but the drivers seat and headrest are horrible, the headrest extends forward too far causing neck strain, pain and nausea for me if I drive more than 30 minutes at a stretch. Cant find a solution to this, may need to return this car.
