This Year's Model Updates:

A long overdue 250-horsepower V6 engine debuts for 2001, making Pathfinder the most powerful SUV in its class. An interior freshening and more standard goodies, as well as snazzy options like an in-dash navigation system and an entertainment system for rear-seat occupants, are new for 2001. Also added to the LE's options list this fall is the handy All-mode automatic 4WD system from the Infiniti QX4.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, car-like interior, good reliability record, rear entertainment system option, available Infiniti All-Mode 4WD on LE models.
Cons:
  • Tight rear seat, high price tag, cheap interior bits.

  • Its been great - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

Have had this pathfinder for over a year now and it has been great. Has been extremely reliable, not a single problem. Performance from 3.5 is great, gas mileage hasnt been that bad about 17-18 mpg mixed driving around town, of course im not a lead foot. Its an SUV afterall. Paint has held up well, still looks like it is new. Overall the seat fabrics, materials and fit and finish are well above average when compared to others. AC is great, especially with hot Vegas summers. Handles like a car not like a truck. Does quite well on semi nasty offroad trails. Is very comfortable on long highway trips.

Great power finally! The old engine was so weak! 3.5 is awesome. Handling is great. Reliabillity is excellent.

  • Wish Id bought a Tahoe - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

We bought the Pathfinder after owning a GMC Yukon thinking "this will be more sporty and get better gas mileage." We were right about the sportiness part of SUV but found the utility lacking because of the small size and the gas mileage being actually worse than the larger Yukon/Tahoe. It is a nice vehicle with comfortable leather front seats, but the backseat is horrible and really only fit for kids. I guess its all relative to what a persons needs are so if the size is not an issue then I would recommend this as a good vehicle to have. Weve kept it for 8 years so it wasnt too bad of an experience. Replaced oxygen sensor with Maxima sensor for 20% of the pathfinder price 3 yrs ago.

This is a great SUV not to big and not to small and it has the power you need, I bought my Pathfinder in june 2001 so far no problem, well just a small noise that it comes from the back of the wheels went I push the break, but I love my Pathfinder is great.

  • Just keeps getting better - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

    Very happy thus far.

  • Still Modern & Reliable after 10 years - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder
    By -

We purchased a 2001 Nissan Pathfinder LE brand new in 2000 and after almost 10 years its still reliable, fun, and modern-looking. For an SUV it gets decent gad mileage. Its very easy and fun to drive and rides smoothly. Weve had a few problems over the years, but its held up pretty well. The leather interior is still in good shape and looks nice. The outside has its fair share of dings and scratches but also holds up well. We plan on keeping it for years to come.

  • Electrical Nightmare - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder
    By -

At 60K miles, this vehicle is amazingly problematic. We have taken good care of it, but I have lost track of all the electrical problems. I will try to recount them: - The ignition wont come on reliably. I drove it to work today and when I tried to go to lunch it would not start. I was stuck with a buck and a vending machine. - Rear window wont roll up from front switch. - Gear shifter wont budge from park when applying the brake. - Engine light keeps coming on because of the electronic fuel injection controls (bad connector).

  • GOOD SUV! - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

I bought this SE pathfinder in the spring of 2000 and got a good deal on it so thats why i bought it, but thats not the only reason. I love this thing for its 240Hp engine, BOSE stereo, just cause its a nissan. Im not to impressed with the gas mileage but I got it anyway and i have to deal with it.

  • Best car I ever owned!!!!!! - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder
    By -

My 01 pathfinder was the best investment I ever made. My kids and wife love the comfort. Ive had this car for 8 years now, and the only problem with it was the spoiler had to be replaced in 07. Otherwise, it was the best car EVER!!!!!!! It has a lot of pep in the engine. It acts like a truck, practically is a truck, but the amount of power in the engine makes it act like a Ferrari 612 Scaglietti. This is a great choice for a family car. Extremely comfortable, reliability is great, and my only complaint is gas mileage.
