This Year's Model Updates:

A long overdue 250-horsepower V6 engine debuts for 2001, making Pathfinder the most powerful SUV in its class. An interior freshening and more standard goodies, as well as snazzy options like an in-dash navigation system and an entertainment system for rear-seat occupants, are new for 2001. Also added to the LE's options list this fall is the handy All-mode automatic 4WD system from the Infiniti QX4.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, car-like interior, good reliability record, rear entertainment system option, available Infiniti All-Mode 4WD on LE models.
Cons:
  • Tight rear seat, high price tag, cheap interior bits.

  • Great buy - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

Ive purchased this vehicle brand new, this is 5 spd, 4x4. It has been very reliable with very very few minor glitches that were fixed under warranty. Would definetly recommend again.

  • Last Nissan Ill Buy - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

Vehicle is fun to drive, ride is truck- like. Assembly was top-notch, but quality of parts is disappointing. Reliability is dismal, it has a great engine but everything else has been poor quality. Rear suspension problems and failures, electronics (six O2 sensors in 3 years, cd changer died 1 month out of warranty), brakes squeal, leather color flakes off, you name it. Vehicle spends as much time in the shop as it does on the road.

  • Great SUV - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

I love this vehicle. Its a blast to drive everyday. It will get up and go when you want it to but is also a nice ride when youre taking it easy. Ive been impressed with the power and like the smaller size for getting in and out of tight spaces around town. Its also performed well in rough weather. Ive towed a number of trailers with it and it will maintain 75 mph on the highway while towing a good load. What can I say, Its great!

  • Still fantastic reliable SUV - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

I bought it 3 years back used, pushing it to the limit, never let me down. Had problem with cd (I sent it for repair for 3 times in 2 years), tires lasted for very long time. I still enjoy it too much. In case of change I will go for the new Path.

  • So far - so good. - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

I bought a used 2001 Pathfinder SE 4WD 2 months ago with about 38,000 miles already on it. And I have to say that its been a pleasant experience so far over about 2,000 miles. No major problems or issues came up - although I have 2 minor worries that I will have looked at during next service. The sunroof shade rattles a bit when open, and the rear hatch lifting rods just started to skweak while opening or closing. Other than that I am happy with it and looking forward to doing some Colorado camping and towing a ski boat in the summer.

  • Good until now - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

This is my 2nd Pathfinder. The 1st, a 1998, was great. The only problems until now was excessive rattles. Same with 1st one. However, I just got a "sevice engine soon" light so I got it checked. The dealer says my catalytic converters are shot and new ones will cost almost 2000.00! It seems to me 4.5 year old and 70k miles with all scheduled service and no unusual driving the car should not have this problem.

  • BEST SUV EVER - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder
    By -

I always owned Nissans. But this is my favorite ever. It looks awesome from the outside, and interior is cozy. Well, it is a little thirsty, but you gotta expect that when you buy an SUV. It is very powerful, handles like a car. I would recommend it to anyone.

  • Never again - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

This was my second Pathfinder after having a 1992. Not the same company anymore. Corporate does not stand by their product. Exhaust broke at the flange which is common Im told after just 4 years! Corporate would not pick up any of the cost and Im stuck with a $850 service bill. O2 sensors and check end light is a nightmare. Rims do not make a good seal on the tires. Faulty struts on this year model. Bose cd changer broke twice.

  • Best suv hands down - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

We have owned three pathfinders over the years. we currently have two! I love my 2001 LE its the best SUV for the money! it has 200K and runs top notch! the 2001+ have the bigger 3.5 engine and you can tell a differences. Only thing iv had to replace other than normal maintenance was the MAF sensor. Hint (replace with Maxima its cheaper)

  • Excellent choice, best vehicle Ive had - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

The 2001 Pathfinder LE 4WD has power, a smooth ride, and is extremely fun to drive. The Bose system sounds excellent and I cant stop putting miles on this excellent vehicle. Build quality/workmanship has been great. My only issue is the milage, but that is even great compared to other SUVs. A small price to pay for an excellent vehicle.
