This Year's Model Updates:

A long overdue 250-horsepower V6 engine debuts for 2001, making Pathfinder the most powerful SUV in its class. An interior freshening and more standard goodies, as well as snazzy options like an in-dash navigation system and an entertainment system for rear-seat occupants, are new for 2001. Also added to the LE's options list this fall is the handy All-mode automatic 4WD system from the Infiniti QX4.

Pros:
  • Powerful V6 engine, car-like interior, good reliability record, rear entertainment system option, available Infiniti All-Mode 4WD on LE models.
Cons:
  • Tight rear seat, high price tag, cheap interior bits.

I bought this Pathfinder with 46k miles and love it, it is as tight as when it was new; has the Navigation system, but really didnt need want it, but nice to have. It is fun to drive and I cant get it off my wife. Hopefully this summer she will want here Acura TL S- Type back, so I can drive it. My Pathfinder has the entertainment system also and my kids love it.

  • Female Perspective:Rides like a truck... - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

only worse. Didnt know its a truck chasis-wish Id paid closer attn @dealership. Feels like spine compresses when u go over the tiniest bump. Nowhere to put purse. Purse/any cargo-no matter where in car-rolls around, contents spill out. I put crates in back to contain groceries etc & they slide around too. Net is useless. Back hatch extremely heavy & takes all my strength to close. Passngr seat has a 1" gap between the seat & seatback. Whatever is put on seat ends up in back floor. Cupholders are too close together. Cell charger in the way when in park. CD player ate a CD while under warranty so dealer had to replace. Hi-test gas. Bad blind spots on both sides. Limited passngr legroom.

  • The Absolute Best! - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

I did my "homework" for almost six months before deciding on the "Pathy". It was my first SUV. It was love at first drive - and the love affair continues 19 months later! Handling, style, reliability. Over all "coolness" - its great! I could not have done such a thorough exploration on the various competitive without Edmunds - and the corresponding sites, comments, and info. Edmunds, in turn. Led me to. You cant go wrong with this car (please dont call it a "truck"). It is the BEST!

This is my first Nissan vehicle, and it wont be my last! This thing is incredible, the coldest days of the year it starts with out a problem. Whether its on wet, snow covered, dirt, muddy roads or going uphill downhill or around a tight curve i have never felt unsecure driving it! I have had it now for about 1.5 years and its got about 85k on it and runs like its new! Nice job Nissan

This is my second Pathfinder. The first was 1997,XE, I really miss it. MY third Nissan just sold a Maxima 1982 93000.00 miles no problems.I am happy with it.Cd player ate a cd, dealer installed new one after having this vehicle for 2.5 years.Check engine light a problem took 5 tries to fix.

  • What a beast - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

I bought this vehicle used after I wrecked my 99 4Runner and I have not regretted the purchase. It now has 107k and Ive really only had to replace the rear muffler because of rust (I had to replace other things but I was the cause of the other things I replace). It drives amazing and has plenty of power, well a lot more power then my 4Runner. I love to go offroading and this vehicle has aced everything that I have thrown at it. It rides comfortably on the highway and maintaining a certain speed is easy due to its potent v6 engine. Towing is easy though its only rated at 3500 lb for the 5 speed manual. I am hoping to keep this vehicle until it dies!!

  • Other than gas milage, a great car - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

A very fine mid-sized SUV. The only significant flaw is the poor gas milage which is worse than my big old Dodge 3500 van when loaded down.

  • The Best SUV Out There - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder
    By -

I have driven many different SUVs and this is by far the best overall vehicle out there. It is the best combination of on-road and off-road capabilities. The new engine in 2001 is FANTASTIC! It is easy to see why the Maxima engine is consistenly rated one of the best and Nissan did a great job converting it for an SUV. The Pathfinder has a very smooth and quiet ride on the road (even at highway speeds) but you can make one turn and it is equally comfortable on demanding off-road situations.

  • Dependable, sturdy SUV - 2001 Nissan Pathfinder

Fun SUV on and off the road.
