This Year's Model Updates:

Most of the changes to the 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class relate to engine upgrades. Last year's E500 model is gone, and in its place is the 382-horsepower E550. Mercedes' AMG division has also renamed last year's E55 AMG as the E63 AMG in light of its more powerful 507-hp V8 engine. Additionally, there's an improved version of the diesel-fueled E320; called Bluetec, it promises reduced tailpipe emissions. Rounding out the changes are updated front-end styling, the addition of the PreSafe anticipatory safety system (from the S-Class), improved adaptive lighting, a new sport package and a few extra standard features that were previously optional.

Pros:
  • Sleek and dignified design inside and out, pleasing blend of ride and handling, powerful V8 engines, sophisticated safety features, all-wheel drive available on both sedans and wagons.
Cons:
  • More expensive than competitors, confusing control layout, electronically controlled brakes lack progressive feel.

  • Its not a BMW - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I leased my E350 because of a deal that I could not pass up. My previous car was a 2000 BMW 528 w/ sport package. My E350 includes the Nav system, Sirius radio, and rear shade screen, but no sport suspension. Overall, I like the car. I never thought I would own a Mercedes. The car rides very nice on the road, but you get a floating feeling if you try to push the handling through turns. Power is more than ample and it gets relatively good gas mileage. I have got a supension squeak that occurs every time I get in the car when the car is cold. The dealer cannot seem to find, but I will give them another try. When this lease is up I will go back to a 530 BMW for better handling.

  • Transmission Problems at 104,000 miles! - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Well, we bought the extended warranty (36 months / 100,000 miles) on our CPO 2007 E350 in February 2011 when we purchased the car. We were coming home from work in January 2014 when our transmission locked in 1st gear and could not be shifted manually or automatically. I contacted MB and was told that since the car now had 104,000 miles on it, I was was no longer covered and there was nothing they could do about it. They were very uncaring about my problem. We had the transmission serviced and were told that the transmissions in the 2007 E350s were American made by Chrysler (not good to know after the fact). We were told further that we should get rid of the car as soon as possible.

  • Nice Car but only buy CPO buying used. - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I have driven BMWs for the last ten years and wanted a change so I went MB. I love the looks of the E350 and how comfortable it is on trips. I bought the car from an independent dealer with 48K on it. The car had been maintained by Mercedes since the day it was bought. Being the second owner and having a clean car fax, I figured I was ok. Up until last week the car was super. The car just turned 52K miles and the transmission had a major malfunction due to the electronics. I had to pay right at $2000 to have the Valve body of the transmission replaced. I am very disappointed that this happened exactly 2000 miles after the factory warranty expired. Not what you would expect on a MB this new.

  • Love this car, but.... - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

This is the fifth MB Ive owned, and this ones the best. It handles beautifully, and is a delight to drive. But, the GPS has me screaming! It takes me the long way, and through neighborhoods no one should drive this car through. I now print maps from my computer before I leave home, and dont rely on the one in my car. Too bad. Satellite reception for Sirius is spotty, and not my first choice. I prefer the XM system. Oh well... But I still love this car. Thanks Mercedes! Youve done it again.

  • Engine replacement 52,000 miles $13,000.00 - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class
    By -

Had a turbo replacement for the 05 CDI with no engine damage at 149,000 miles - no problem. Just was informed by the Greenwich Penske/MB dealer that the 2007 Bluetec had a blown turbo which destroyed the engine. Cost to repair $13,000.00 - market value around $8,000.00. The turbo parts enter the engine itself and destroy it. A known design problem which has happened to thousands of Bluetecs. MB Corporate says: "Tough, car is out of warranty - we decline any responsibility. We can refer you to a good junk dealer.

  • Great car! - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

My first Mercedes and Im very impressed. Test drove a 2006 E320 CDI last year and the difference between the 2006 and the 2007 model is substantial. The 2007 is much more quiet both inside and out. The torque produced by this engine is amazing. Considered a Lexus GS but this Mercedes just presented a more luxurious profile to me. The dealer I purchased from also installed the 18" 10-twin-spoke rims which really made this car stand out.

I bought this car with some mileage but still under warranty. So far I have enjoyed it quite a lot. I previously drove Mazda RX8, which was like a gokart, but grew out of it and bought a used MB. I get around 23MPG mixed with 60-70% highway, which is an improvement over my RX8. The car is great, although handling is not as sharp as I am used to, much more on a luxury side, but still chassis is tuned nicely and wants to deliver. I wish ESP could be completely turned off, but I did manage to spin it. Acceleration is more than enough and transmission works very smoothly. Sound system is phenomenal. Love the car and cant get enough driving it. It should have a bluetooth. BT cradle is available.

  • Bluetec Heaven ! - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

Having previously driven various BMW and MB models over the past 20+ years, my 2008 Bluetec is the best yet. The astounding torque has to be experienced to be believed. Passing performance is rocket-like. Trips to gas stations have become far fewer. All of the wonderful features of the E Class are combined with the superb V6 diesel. Why would anyone looking to buy an new E Class (or a similar luxury sedan) not consider the amazing E320 Bluetec ?? If V8 power combined with 4 cylinder fuel economy doesnt make sense, then what does ?

  • Bluetecs the way to go - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

My 3rd Benz. 1990E class loved it.2000 S500,had trouble with it. Now this Eclass. So far great. I tend to go back and forth between Benz, BMW,and Lexus. I wanted good mileage, but more fun luxury and performance than a Prius, which I drove as well. I am dissapointed with the direction of the Lexus hybrids(poor mileage). It came down to the Lexus GS450h vs Benz E320 bluetec. Benz won this time around.

  • The Beast - 2007 Mercedes-Benz E-Class

I had one of the best expiriences driving the new Mercedes Benz E63. For some reason I just did not find anything wrong with the car for me to say oh they should have done this like this or anything like that. If you like the E55 then youll love the E63. Not only does the car have speed that you need but also the handling that we all seek for. Taking turns at like 40 mph the car sticks to the road like its on railroad tracks. Anyways long story short, if you have the money, this is the car you should get. I am a hundred percent that you will not regret buying this car.
