Overview & Reviews
The Mazda CX-7 is a compact crossover SUV with seating for five. Introduced for 2007, it was a refinement on the more utilitarian Tribute and like most newer Mazdas, it has an athletic demeanor. The CX-7 also incorporates most of the elements that continue to make crossovers so popular, including carlike handling, available all-wheel drive and a useful amount of cargo capacity.
Although the CX-7 is fun to drive as crossovers go, its base four-cylinder engine is memorable for its sluggish acceleration and subpar fuel economy. The available turbocharged four-cylinder solves the performance problem, but its fuel economy is even worse. With the efficient CX-5 waiting in the wings, the CX-7 was phased out after the 2012 model year.

A happy wife is a happy life - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By rands - July 29 - 9:30 pmGot this car for my wife, we looked at all the usual suspects and Im so glad that she preferred the CX-7 in the Grand Touring AWD package. This car is a revelation in the price bracket; it is the better value X5. Being an ex racer and a Manager of a Ferrari and Maserati dealer I get to drive some nice cars, but this car is really good, with a few short comings, but they are insignificant to the positives.

Originally, I Had Second Thoughts - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By MEP - July 28 - 12:43 amWhen I test drove the CX-7 Sport, I liked the car; however, after I purchased it and drove it for a longer period of time, I was not please with the rough ride. I was having second thoughts about this vehicle. Now, after owning the SUV for a month, Im loving this SUV. I originally started out to purchase the Nissan Maxima until I saw this vehicle on the highway. Its roomy, the handling and braking is great, and I have gotten use to the ride.

Zoom Clang Clang Chug - 2011 Mazda CX-7
By stantonb1 - June 17 - 1:27 pmI have all ready established a series of form comments under A/C problems. It appears that the extremely loud banging that I experience when I first turn on the A/C in the morning is normal or at least that is what Mazda field engineers told Reedman Toll when they were going over my car. When I wanted to further discuss the problem with Stephanie a Mazda field representative at the "800" Mazda number provided it was fine for her to record the conversation, but she immediately hung up when advised I would be recording too. To state that I am discussed with the manner in which Mazda is treating me as a customer is an understatement. Recommend Mazda, not me not a chance; not there for you!!

Great Urban Vehicle - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By Anonymous - May 12 - 2:00 amI stepped out of a custom F-150 xlt with all the power and none of the economy to this. I moved from the country to the city and this thing does exactly what I need it to. Front wheel drive with traction control for Cleveland winters. Fold down rear seat for those few times I need a little more room. It doesnt look like every other ride on the road. The 2.5L engine is spunky enough to merge from short access lanes w/o worrying about getting rolled over by whoever bought my old truck. It parks easier in the big city, it gets better gas mileage, it is comfortable on trips (Ive taken 2 to NC so far) and it has enough ground clearance to drive over a parking lot curb...totally by accident ;-)

OK But - 2010 Mazda CX-7
By Bill Kober - April 6 - 10:00 amVehicle ride is fair, pronounced road noise on less than well paved roads. Cabin is roomy, power with the 4 cyl is adequate. Rear seats do not fold flat, which I find annoying. Gas mileage should be better for the size of the vehicle.

2009 GT with Techno Pkg - 2009 Mazda CX-7
By ultimate_meenie - March 30 - 9:30 amHaving a fun car to drive is a top priority for me, at the same time I like something practical; cx7 fits the bill perfectly. The power is good and the handling is excellent. It looks, feels and drives sporty. The tech package is great, lots of nice features for the money. My biggest disappointments so far have been the excessive road noise and lack luster Bose stereo. In terms of gas mileage; Mostly city-18MPG and mostly highway- 22MPG. In my shopping I think Rav4 \Forester are the best all around choices; Santa Fe, most refinement and bang for the buck, CX-7, best sporty crossover; poor mans FX35-X3-RDX.

awesome fun to drive - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By slightjackson - March 14 - 6:30 pmI love the fact that you dont see many on the road. Everyone is missing out on a fun vehicle to drive. Love the sound system and the performance of the turbocharged 4 cylinder. Very comfortable and the Bose system is quality. Everything about this car is quality for the price.

Good Compromise Between the Wife and I - 2007 Mazda CX-7
By KeithB - March 11 - 10:40 amWe had been looking for a new vehicle in the $30,000 price range. We test drove everything from Hondas to Volvos trying to find a vehicle we could agree on. Finally the local dealer got in a CX-7. The functionality of the vehicle sold my wife, and the surge from the turbo sold me. Weve had it for a week now and so far Im happy with it. My biggest complaint is that the ride is a little stiff. It takes corners like a champ, but I can see how it can get tiring after a 4+ hour trip.

Big Disapointment - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By lilgreenfrog76 - January 20 - 12:02 amI thought driving a Mazda would be wonderful. I love forgeign cars as they last forever!! I couldnt be more wrong. Bought the car with 16k miles and at 70k miles, the engine blows. First was thought the timing chain broke, but wasnt. Mazda will NOT stand by their product. They have a crappy warrenty for a reason. Their cars are CRAP!! I checked out more cars like mine, there IS a bad problem with the engines!!! There is NO reason for a maintained car to have such issues at low miles. I had a VW with 144k miles, 10 years old and never once gave me problems. SHAME ON YOU MAZDA!! Build a better car or fix it. Check reviews and engine problems on the 07 & 08 CX-7s!! U have been WARNED!!!!

Great Crossover for the Money - 2008 Mazda CX-7
By jasonsfolks - January 4 - 3:13 amLeased this 2008 CX7 after looking at Chevy Equinox, Ford Edge and Murano. Mazda offered best value for the money. 2008 edition can take regular unleaded which is what we use however the performance and turbo really needs premium gas. At $4 plus a gallon, we will use regular unleaded and loose some performance. Moonroof and Bose stereo with power seats is terrific. A fun car to drive. Im not tall but I wish the headroom was a little higher. Sometimes feel a little tight with near the sun visors.
