Model Overview:

Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.

In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

  • Couldnt be more satisfied. My EDGE is like a family member. - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

Its only been 8 months since I drove it off the lot and said to my wife ..."Did I really pay that much fir a Ford !!?" Now I am constantly surprised that I was able to get all these features, and this ride for such a low price. Ive owned 2 Accords, a Chrysler Town and Country Limited Van, an RX7, and before that a Chrysler 5th Avenue, and a Mercury Marquis Broughm. They all had their good points ... but none has fit me so well as this Edge. Decent mileage (19.5 city), comfort, all the pickup I need, and easy on the eyes. Im so sold on it, I should probably quit my job and apply at the local dealers to sell Edges.

  • A Very Luxurious Vehicle - 2008 Ford Edge
    By -

I purchased my 2008 Ford Edge in October 2010 about 10 months ago. So far, I am very happy. There was only one issue that I had which was covered under my auto Tran. This vehicle drives very smooth, like a car, and is very comfortable. The leather interior and the beautiful exterior (powder blue) gives this vehicle a very luxurious look. People cannot believe when I tell them that the vehicle was just under $20,000. Overall, I would highly recommend the Edge as it is like a luxury vehicle without the price tag!

Forget going to the grocery store in a hurry. You will get quizzed on what you are driving. It goes across all age groups and even just driving around its a head turner too. We live in X5 and Range Rover Land and for the money there is no comparison. We drove them all including Lexus and Audi and Lincoln too but if aggressive style and value is your deal then this is the vehicle for you. This Edge is fully loaded and its like toy time for adults. Even our teenagers and their friends have a blast inside. Mytouch and Sync require a learning curve and there is an art to the touch screen too but once mastered its powerful stuff. Love the reverse camera and killer sunroof too.

  • Great Car - Fun to Drive - 2008 Ford Edge
    By -

We love this car. Fun to drive, and the AWD handles great in the snow and ice. We bought it new and now have 40K miles on it. We can fit a ton in this car too. We have two kids in car seats, and make frequent overnight trips with strollers, luggage, etc. Our only problem so far has been the power lift gate would not stay up at times (around 30K miles). Dealer fixed it (under warranty) with a computer reset and its worked perfectly ever since. We would definitely recommend the Edge!

  • This car is amazing, and Im a car snob - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

Im a car snob. When my wife got the Edge, I was driving a Mercedes E63 AMG (500 HP, top of the line Benz). My wife gets company cars, and they need to be Fords, so she picked a loaded Edge Sport. This car blows me away. It is quite, quick, handles like a sports car, and has more features than I ever imagined. We pulled a small trailer with motorcycles for 800 miles and it was flawless. I cant speak for long-term reliability since its only at 5K miles, but as far overall quality and fun factor, I think youd be crazy to buy that little Lexus or other generic SUV. No, I dont work for Ford, Im truly amazed by this ride. Rear DVD, synch, great sound, cool looking....amazing ride.

  • Lovin the Edge!! - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

WAS a big GM Fan - after having several broken hearts over my beloved Bravada (left me stranded in Texas w/80k miles), mid life crisis Camaro (97k miles) and finally my cute little Chevy Colorado (for garden work). I joined my husband on the Ford bandwagon. We traded in my 07 Colorado (snifff) for this VERY NICE 2011 Ford Edge!!! The second I drove the Edge off the lot I fell in Love!!! XOXOXOX The Edge handles beautifully - with the rubber mat in the back I have plenty of room for trips to the Farmers market and garden store, and its great on long trips. Hubby even likes riding in the passenger side - he can kick back with plenty of room to spare!

  • 2001 Edge SEL - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

I traded a 2008 4Runner SR5 for a 2011 Edge SEL. I wanted a bit more refinement and better gas mileage and I got exactly that. Fit and finish is just great. Easy to get in and out of, gas mileage is as rated. I love the MyTouch technology and dont find it that hard to use. Makes my 4Runner seem very antiquated. The Edges ride is so smooth with excellent noise dampening. I would recommend an Edge to anyone who doesnt need the true SUV qualities of a truck based vehicle.

  • Great Car - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

Went from 2007 to 2009 mariner to save gas - no power - chose Edge after looking at Subaru, VW, BMW, Mazda CX7 - good deal on a great car. We really like it. Wanted Sync *worked great on Mercury* did not want MyTouch. So we got an SE and got neither lol.

  • Like Fords of old - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

Years ago we owned a Ford Crown Victoria. Great road car. Solid feel about it. Our new Edge has those same qualities but with all the modern conveniences. Love the My Touch system, the blind spot side mirrors, and the great seats. Even my wife, who does not like leather, loves the heated front seats. So glad we went for the Limited with the memory features. My wife is 11 inches shorter than me but the memory makes finding our driving positions easy. We have owned many new cars and this one is one of the best, if not the best, ever.

I really like this car, lots of room in the back and front. Kids boosters fit fine. Drives like a dream. Take the time to learn how to use sync, its worth it.
