Model Overview:

Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.

In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

  • Excellent ride and features..but moisture in lamps - 2015 Ford Edge
    By -

First I have a 2015 SEL 3.5L (which is not listed) I traded my 2013 for the 2015. The ride felt better, looked better and handled better. 2 weeks after I bought it I noticed after it rained, there was moisture in the rear center reflector and tail lamp lenses. It went away after a couple days. I washed it in a touchless car wash and the moisture reappeared. Willowbrook Ford agreed that there was an issue, they took pictures and emailed them to Ford. Ford authorized replacing the rear lamps and center reflector. After Willowbrook Ford repaired my Edge they washed it and I picked it up. When I got home I noticed moisture in rear tail lamp lenses again. I will update this review.....

  • Ford Edge - Edgy in curves - 2015 Ford Edge
    By -

The "Edge" is very comfortable. I rented this model to go on a trip from NC to Tennessee. Car did great until we encountered the curves in the Tennessee mountains. The rear of the car felt like it was coming up to the front when going in to curves. Rear traction very unstable. Tires had correct air pressure, only 2000 miles on car. Navigating through the electronics (via the up and down, left and right arrows, on the left side lever) is terrible. The Auto Traction function is (in my opinion) useless. I Definitely like "the ride comfort" but, the traction and instability in curves turns the "Purchase Option" off for me.

  • Disappointed in my first Ford - 2015 Ford Edge
    By -

I love the exterior look of the new Edge, and the interior design and layout is top notch, rivaling the European luxury brands. However... Almost immediately after my purchase, my Edge Titanium was spending more time in the dealers service department than in my garage, due to either a manufacture issue or a design problem that caused a very annoying noise on the driver side (and now the passenger side) of the cabin. Ford didnt care enough to offer any assistance, and the car does not (yet) qualify for buy back per CA definifion of the Lemon Law. I am very disappointed in my first Ford experience. My advice is to stay away for now, or, if you must have one, proceed with caution!

  • BLOWN ENGINE :( - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

2011 Ford Edge with a bad water pump that blew up and ruined the engine at 91,000 miles. Light came on, car jerked, pulled over and towed to Ford Dealer. Blown water pump caused engine oil and antifreeze to mix and destroy the engine. Now the car dealer needs $5000 to replace with a rebuilt engine. Took a check for car, not going to purchase another Ford at this time.

  • Those nice Chrome 19" Wheel Covers - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

When you purchase an Edge or other Ford product, make sure you ask what the various parts are made of. My "Chrome Clad" wheels are actually Chrome "Foil" bonded to plastic. Who hasnt hit a pothole or scraped a curb when parking... if you do you cannot simply buy a replacement "hub cap" ... you have to buy the entire wheel at a cost well above $800 per wheel!!!!! When I wrote to Ford Executives about the matter ... they simply said "buyer beware"... Fool me once shame on you. I will NEVER buy a Ford again. I feel lied to and cant help but wonder what else is plastic that we think is metal??????

  • Beware - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

My review is based on: !. Lousy customer service from Ford Motor Co (not the dealership). 2. The design of the engine. The water pump on this engine is located inside the engine. At 91,000 miles, our water pump went out. The "overtemp" light went off about 30 seconds before we stopped. The engine is BLOWN! A water pump going out should NOT be the end of an engine. We had NO indication that we had a problem before this occurred, and had even had the oil changed one week before this occurrence. Now comes the Customer service problem....NO support from Ford! The dealership was fantastic, but Customer Service was ridiculous! Not expecting a new engine, just help with repair!

  • Very disappointed - 2012 Ford Edge
    By -

I have owned the vehicle for nearly 2 years and continue to be disappointed. The battery died after 1 year, brake booster went out, Vista roof rubber rails fell off driving down the freeway, then the motor wouldnt close it. Air conditioning went out May 2013 and now again this May 2014, has been recalled for the fuel line. Ive had a mysterious grinding noise starting the car and it wont start then you can start it, they dont know whats wrong. The SYNC doesnt work correctly and does strange things, I spend hours at the dealer and most times they cant or wont give me a rental. I am at the point of never wanting to own another Ford and want to trade this in for something reliable.

  • Engine Noise - 2013 Ford Edge
    By -

I bought this fully loaded Ford Edge AWD in June 2013. After driving it for 2 months, the engine starts to make some noises when the SUV is idle at the traffic light, when I press on the brake. The noise sounds like "du du du du du...".......The noise is gone when I relase the brake. It is very wired. I brought it to the dealer and the dealer said the sound is common. Well, I didnt find it in my previous RAV4... Wondering whether other Edge owners have the similar issue with the engine while on brake at traffic light?

  • Disappointed - 2011 Ford Edge
    By -

Had this car less than 2 years under 30,000 miles. Already returned to the dealership 6 times. Had service for replacement of the main computer chip, replace defective power window switch, faulty fuel injectors, and a couple of sync issues. This was not a cheap vehicle, sticker over $40 grand. Cant take it anywhere afraid wont get home. As soon as I get back from shop trading it in on something other than a Ford!
