Crossovers with carlike ride and handling characteristics are perennially popular, and a good example of the breed is the smart-looking Ford Edge. It's a midsize crossover with seating for five. Thanks to its roomy interior, long list of amenities and available all-wheel drive, it's typically a good match for small- and medium-size families seeking a do-it-all utility vehicle.
In road tests, our editors have praised the Edge's quiet ride and advanced features like the MyFord Touch electronics interface, though as with most modern, in-car technology, there's a learning curve. Additionally, Ford offers a range of different engines in the Edge to appeal to crossover buyers seeking performance, fuel economy or a balance of both. Although the Ford Edge might not appeal to bigger families in need of high passenger capacity, it's a solid contender in most other respects.

Great SUV! - 2011 Ford Edge
By smithfarms500 - April 6 - 7:35 amI had my Ford Edge for about a month now and I love driving it everywhere. I live on a dairy farm and needed a more realistic vehicle than our trucks we have. The Edge was the suv that stood out most to us. The exterior is fabulous how all the lines of the car just flow. The inside and the technology is unbeatable. We were looking at other suvs and none at anyother company could beat this technology. The engine was the number one important concern for us. We wanted a strong and powerful engine that could handle the wear and tear a farm has on cars. The edge does great with our stone lane, back roads and sometimes field drives. The only thing we would change is possibly putting a third row!

By cafunmom - March 26 - 7:50 pmI am really enjoying my new Ford Edge. It is a very comfortable car (I have back issues as times), and it is also roomy enough for my tall family. The car has great safety features and performs well on the road. I love the new MyFord Touch and Synch. I received very good training on the system from my salesman when I picked up the car. I highly recommend taking the time to understand the features it really is a great system and worth taking the time to learn it! Some people said they had glitches or found it confusing. So far, I have not found that to be an issue. The car handles very well, but the suspension is a little firm.

Best car Ive ever had! - 2011 Ford Edge
By niewmar - March 6 - 7:53 amWe have just leased 2011 Edge Limited AWD (with all possible extras) and having owned Mercedes before and still driving 06 Acura RL I have to say that Edge is by far the best car I have ever had and driven before. Drive quality and comfort is superb, fit and finish is fantastic and the amount of technical features and gadgets is just unbelievable. I absolutely love the Edge and would buy another one without a second of hesitation. Best car ever! You have to be crazy to buy Lexus, BMW or the MB these days- just test drive the fully loaded Edge!

Ford did their homework and deserve a chance! - 2011 Ford Edge
By gunnardad - February 18 - 8:44 pmA lifelong foreign car owner-except for 2 suburbans- and a Range Rover lover, I was looking for safe, economical car that would protect my wife,be comfortable for long trips, room for sports equip. (I am spoiled by my 30 yr old!!MB diesel giving 30mpg hwy) and decided to give domestic cars a chance, after looking at MB MLs, BMW x and Toureg. We liked the older Edge styling and saw new beautiful silver/black one at dealer. Wow. Quiet, comfortable, smooth, corners flat, and moves like a big V8! Shocked. Bought it. Simple 2wd SE, no touch system(I like dials and hate gimicry) Cloth seat material is surprisingly comfortable, practical and cool(Florida) Powerful, roomy, and avg. 20/28 GO FORD!

Very happy with New Edge - 2011 Ford Edge
By jbrtp - February 14 - 8:01 pmTraded 07 Suburban for 09 Mariner. Mercury too small and slow - got a good deal and traded for 2011 Edge. No leather - no sync - no Ford touch - result - good car. Looked at Chevy Equinox, Honda CRV- Acura - Toyota Rav 4 and Highlander - Mazda CX7. Ford seemed better made and more solid. Mazda, even though same underpinings, seemed cheaper and required premium gas. Hit gas in Edge and car goes. Brakes are good and steering feedback are just fine considering its a CX. Wish it had blue tooth as an option. Hard to see right front end at times. Agree about headrests, but we are used to them now with a little bit of recline in the seat. Biggers wheels improve mileage by 1-3 MP

Love this crossover! - 2007 Ford Edge
By Anonymous - December 6 - 2:00 amI have owned my Edge for over a year now and love it! I went from a 2 door Explorer Sport to the Edge SEL and am very pleased with my purchase. This is my everyday drive and I average at least 22 mpg - better than the 16 I was getting with the explorer. We had a few good snows last winter and I had zero problems getting around and boy does the heater work! Over the summer the AC was able to keep up with the Kansas heat and humidity. The interior is roomy - two adults + two teens is not cramped. Has more get up and go than the explorer so passing us not an issue. Would have liked the auto lift gate but fro the $, the 07 was best for us.

Worth the wait! - 2011 Ford Edge
By Realtor4 - December 2 - 2:00 amCame from a Honda 1998 CR-V bought new and sold at 210,000 miles, very few problems. Was worried about changing, but just love my Edge. I have it fully loaded with nav, sunroof and towing. The car fits like a glove, when driving or riding. The push start is really nice and the adaptive cruise is great. Its really neat when your car starts to slow down because the car in front of you has slowed down and you havent even done anything. It makes you feel safer knowing that if you look away, your still not going to hit the car in front of you. My insurance was only $41 more every 6 months than my 1998 Honda because of all the safety features. I love the heated seats. Good Job Ford!

One month and lovin it! - 2011 Ford Edge
By Dudley - November 26 - 2:00 amOur Edge is just one month old at this point. We absolutely love this vehicle. It is quiet (traded a05 Highlander) and much better ride than previous SUVs.The MyFord Touch system has a rather steep learning curve. I am sure it will come in time but at this point we are still learning. Getting about 20 around town and got 31 on a recent 70 mile trip (speed limit was 55)We have been stopped numerous times by people admiring this car. Looked at Lexus, Cadillac, GMC, Honda Toyota but kept coming back to the Edge.Paid invoice and got a fair trade in amount. FYI, the Ford "holdback" is 3% and the advertising allowance is approx. 1 1/2 % So even at invoice the dealer is making about $2000

Love this vehicle - 2011 Ford Edge
By Joni - November 24 - 2:00 amWe love this vehicle. This vehicle has an excellent ride, very comfortable interior, and it is fun to drive. It drives like a much more expensive vehicle. I traded in my 07 Malibu and there is no comparison in performance, comfort, and overall quality. The Sync system is amazing. Everyone should consider this type vehicle for a crossover. We purchased this vehicle based on overall appearance and the quality. We also respect Ford for not relying on the government and taxpayer to stay in business. So long GM!

3rd Time a Charm! - 2011 Ford Edge
By Edge#3 - November 24 - 2:00 amIve had a 2008, 2010 both limited and now the 2011 sport loaded except the DVD player.This is by far the best Edge yet.I love the exterior looks, my edge looks mean with the black grill and the white plat tri coat paint job.The interior is nicely laid out and road noise is a thing of the past.The tuned sport suspension delivers a nice ride on my sweet 22" rims. My headlights are plenty bright dont know what people are complaining about. SYNC system works fine and the sony sound system really rocks luv the surround sound.Steering wheel controls are nice.The dash display is nice and fun to play with.Spend time playing with all the systems to see how they work-read the owners manual cover to cover
