Overview & Reviews
Completely redesigned for 1998, the Intrepid is a sedan that has the graceful styling of a coupe, thanks to a continuation of Chrysler's cab-forward design. Dodge's trademark cross hair grille dominates the front end along with two large, sparkling headlights. And the new Intrepid is powered by your choice of two new V6 engines.
- Large interior, optional 3.2-liter V6 engine, good looks
- Facing tough competition from home and abroad

1998 Dodge Intrepid ES - 1998 Dodge Intrepid
By jscheiman - June 3 - 2:00 amI purchased the vehicle less than two years ago with 60k on it. I have put on nearly 40k miles and the odometer now reads 98k. I have had NO major problems what-so-ever. I have just performed the regular maintenence items, change oil, oil filter, put K&N drop in air filter. Changed the rotors, pads and tires. New plugs when I bought the car. The huge trunk can easily accomidate luggage for a week for 4-5 adults, plus drive them along! The Auto-Stick feature is great on the ES model. The extra HP in the ES over the base model really gives the car more kick. Concrete car from Dodge/Chrysler!

120,000 Miles and Going Stong - 1998 Dodge Intrepid
By SeikoGuy - March 8 - 2:00 amI bought the car new in May of 1998 after ordering a platinum exterior with camel leather interior (not the normal combination). Other than 2 transmission speed sensors (approx. $100 each) and the drivers side window regulator, this car has cost me nothing but regular maintenance. First set of brake pads at 113,000 miles, battery at 111,000, flush cooling system and transmission system at 116,000 miles. Oil changes every 3000 miles only cost $8.43 at the dealer. I sold my 94 ES to a friend and it is still being driven with 160,000 miles.

A mistake Im stuck with! - 1998 Dodge Intrepid
By BCmickey - January 12 - 2:00 amI fell immediatly in love with it. The seats were comfortable, the car drove great. Everything about it was just what I always wanted. Until I got it home. So far it has died on a off ramp of a highway after the cruise control kicked in automatically and i couldnt stop the car, I took the next exit off the highway and it died. That was the relay sensor.we had to bring it in twice for that problem. Then we were at a gas station, and once in our driveway when the car died. We had to join AAA just to get this car towed to the dealership these two times was due to the battery terminal being corroded. and just resently The car died again, same thing.

Dodge Intrepid - 1998 Dodge Intrepid
By Dodge98Intrepid - December 6 - 2:00 amIts slow. Its loud inside, the noise coming from the floor and the top of the car is horrific. Never buy a base car again!!! Spend the extra dough and try to get the ES version or R/T.

Dodge Intrepid ES is the best vehicle - 1998 Dodge Intrepid
By Rachel - October 26 - 2:00 amI have owned a intrepid for 1 year. They are great winter cars, very reliable no major problems. Brakes may go out more than they should. 3.2L 24valve engine is very peppy.Autostick on ES models is a cool toy. Very sporty. The best vehicle to buy if you want a large sedan.
