I just traded in my 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee on this gem. Test drove the Honda Accord, Toyota Camry, Infiniti G35. This car was the best bar far. The features alone differentiate it from the others. I couldnt be happier. Perfect combination of form and function.

  • Regretting first ever new car buy - 2008 Nissan Altima

Love my car, it handles great. Steep curves feel like Sunday driving @ 55+mph. However I have paint drips in tire wells under the fender. Also, I want to pierce my ears to save myself the agony of listening to the screeching sound coming from somewhere on drivers side. Thought it was poorly designed side mirrors, now I am thinking its the tires. It is so horrible I wish I could take my car back. Forget about cruising with the sunroof open and windows rolled down, unless you want to know how it sounds for cats to die miserably.

  • Better Gas Mileage Than Expected! - 2008 Nissan Altima
    By -

Im a courier and drive this car about 180 miles/day. I had an 07 Camry and averaged about 23 mpg, Ive been getting about 26.5 average in the Altima only change I notice is the low rpm at high speed. Very smooth ride and acceleration. No hesitation when you hit the gas to pass another car. Should have XM radio standard. Much more fun to drive than my Camry, tires are MUCH cheaper to replace. Performance+ pkg is a great deal for what you get. The push button start is GREAT! The CVT (continuous variable transmission) is VERY nice and I wasnt expecting to notice such a difference.Youll notice it within a minute of your test drive.

  • unhappy purchase - 2008 Nissan Altima

I previously owned a 2006 Altima 3.5 SE and loved every second of it! Strong motor and great handling car... Traded it for a 2008 2.5 SL with CVT. I just want to run it into a wall every time I drive it. I thought I would adapt to the CVT and 4cylinder... it will never happen. Its too slow, CVT is annoying and the never ending revving of the engine is ridiculous. There is unfortunately nothing exciting about driving this car. The breaks are touchy and will throw you through the windshield, the throttle will snap your neck initially, the driver seat creaks with every turn (3 times they have tried to fix it) sunroof cover rattles (they said they cant fix.. on and on and on...

  • Geezer Ride - 2008 Nissan Altima

Test drove most everything prior to buying. I am most impressed by the CVT. Build quality excellent, and the ride is smooth and quiet. First distance drive was 3300 miles and gas mileage was 32 mpg.

  • Traded it for $16k - 2008 Nissan Altima
    By -

Owned my Altima for 2 years. Proved to be reliable. I got 26 mpg mixed city/hwy driving (mostly commuting through the city). Like others have said, what I disliked were the seats. Im 65" and I didnt find it comfortable, so I traded it in. I got 16k on my trade for the SL w/leather at 24k mi. Pretty nice car, fun to drive, reliable, not ugly, decent stereo, great transmission, comfortable enough suspension, etc.

  • My first new car... ever!!! 2.5 SL pkg - 2008 Nissan Altima
    By -

This is my first new car purchase. Was gonna get a Subie Legacy but didnt like the way it shifted. Camry is bland, boring, and dealers wouldnt haggle with me. G35x was my dream car that never came true (lotta bread for that car). My friend bought an Altima and I was taken away by the tranny. Felt like a 6 cylinder to me and the smoothness and pickup was impressive.

  • Surprised and Love the Altima - 2008 Nissan Altima

I drove the new Accord, Camry, and Altima. Bottom line, the Altima drove the best and had the best mileage. I now have 9000 on my 6 speed manual, 2.5S with convenience pkg plus and it has be a blast. Steering is awesome, its comfortable, roomy, I get 35-38 mpg, no lie!!! With all this, it was much cheaper than either the Accord or Camry. The 6 spd manual is hard to find, but worth the search for sure.

  • Very Satisfied First Time Nissan Buyer - 2008 Nissan Altima

Having had a V6 Accord and VR6 Jetta in the past, I can honestly say that this is the sportiest sedan I have ever owned by a longshot. The low growl of the engine every time I step on the gas reinforces my purchase decision. Love the tekkie features like the push button start and bluetooth capability. What seem like gimmicks quickly become indispensable.

  • Hard Vibrating ride - 2008 Nissan Altima
    By -

I purchased the 2.5SL Altima for three main reasons. Fuel economy, style and price. Those are the good things. I noticed a vibration in the front end, on the drive home, between 63 and 70 mph (approx 20 miles). Took it to a tire shop to check the balancing, that helped, but didnt solve it. Im on my third trip to the Nissan shop. If this doesnt fix the problem, I will have to consider another vehicle. The vibration and what I would consider a hard ride, has soured me. I still like the style and fuel economy and would love to have the vibration issue fixed. I will check the tires for overinflation from the factory. That may improve the hard ride.
