CVT Transmission is JUNK ! - 2008 Nissan Altima
By catt66 - July 17 - 11:23 amI am driving a 2008 Altima 2.5L SL model. I have to say that it is fuel efficient and comfortable to drive. The problem I am having is that I currently have 128,000km on the vehicle and am going on my 2nd replacement transmission. My first was replaced at 60,000km after I noticed a whining noice when the engine was placed under load above 3000 rpm. I just turned 128,000 km recently and noticed the same noice again, they have ordered another to be replaced. I am very disappointed in the reliability here, Nissan sent a letter saying my transmission was covered under warranty up to 200,000km and at the rate mine are dropping off that wont get me through the lease, may be my last Nissan!

Grownup style, with a rocket for a heart - 2008 Nissan Altima
By O. Ludlow - June 4 - 1:33 pmThe Altima is a lot of fun. Its the first new car Ive ever owned, and its neat to chart how it feels for the first thousand miles, and the next. I use the cruise control for long straight freeway trips, and get 32 MPG. In town, more like 24. Im 63" and it fits me well. I think it really comes down to the rocket under the hood. Ive never been happier to get behind the wheel and GO somewhere. Its really a great ride and I wholly recommend it.

Couldnt Be Happier - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Bill - June 2 - 8:40 pm2.5 SL CVT, with the connection package. I have never written a review for anything before but after all the helpful advise I read here before I purchased, I had to return the favor. I cannot be happier with this car. Have owned 1 yr, right at 17K miles, still just as excited about it as when I drove it off the lot. Looked at Camry and Accord, never even thought about this and then decided to check it out and something just stuck with me. Excellent performance for a 4 cylinder. Never been starved for power. Avg 27-29 mpg per tank with mixed hgwy and city, and I dont hold back on the peddle. Smoothest transmission I ever felt. Love all the extras too. Great car for the money.

bad engines - 2008 Nissan Altima
By GENE - May 10 - 5:03 pmI have a knocking / rattle when I step on the gas when the car is cold. I have had my car in and out of Nissan service about 10 times at this point. I finally got them to admit that the noise exists. They have changed the heat shield but the noise still occurs. Nissan is telling me that this is normal and there is no piston skirts on 2.5 engines

Love it! - 2008 Nissan Altima
By MjWel - May 7 - 4:20 amMy favorite part is that its a definite head turner. I had never seen one until I saw it on the show room floor. I fell in love, so did my husband. This car has great handling and awesome horsepower. The body is sleek, nothing like the regular Nissan Altima.

Disappointed - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Jason - May 6 - 11:06 pmThe vehicle is noisy and the ride is rough. I have been back to the dealership and they told me that tire complaints are common. Nissan is using sub-standard tires trying to keep costs down!

2.5 SL w/nav and Loving It - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Jeff - March 11 - 7:23 amI traded in 2 gas guzzlers, 15.5 and 18.5 mpg. Im now getting 27 mpg traveling the same route. I always wanted an Infiniti but couldnt justify the price, mpg, and rwd. The 2.5 is fine performance wise, the SL, connection, and nav packages give you everything you could need. Things I miss are memory seats, power pass seat, and folding mirrors. The 3.5 folding mirrors with turn signals will swap out for less than $300. The car has state of the art features and is well put together. I purchased on 11/12/07 and have 500 miles on her. Im looking forward to many more.

Too many issues, now dealer wont fix, Nissan of Folsom problems - 2008 Nissan Altima
By stever343 - January 6 - 5:44 pmEverything was going pretty good until about 50,000 miles. I am getting a pulsating when letting off the gas, and a rough idle when cold. The 12 v outlet quit working. I brought it back to Future Nissan of Folsom, and they replaced the head! Thankfully I had the Nissan extended warranty, but they wouldnt allow me a rental, even though the extended warranty covers one! I get it back, idle is rough, bring it back, they say the reprogrammed it per some bulletin. The next morning, the idle is as rough as ever. Now the service guy, Rod, who had always been so nice, changes abruptly and tells me theres nothing wrong with my car. Now they wont take my calls and wont fix my car!

My two cents - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Jennifer - January 4 - 3:20 pmI think the Altima is a good quality product and you get a lot of car for the money; however, I have some issues with it. Most importantly, the exterior of the car crinkles very easily (per auto body mechanic). I had a plastic empty shopping car 3 inches away from the car. It rolled into my car and made a ding. I hope I never get into an accident! I also had a problem with my TPMS light malfunctioning. Also, there is a terrible blind spot when you back up from parking spaces. My sister-in-law has the same problem with her Altima. Its either the back of the car is too high or its the fact there isnt a good visual field from inside the car. not enough window. Very dangerous.

Sandras Altima - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Sandra - December 26 - 12:06 pmBefore I saw the 2008 Altima, my mind was set on a Camry, but after seeing and reading about the Altima, my mind changed. I had to have an Altima. I look forward to driving it each day. I love the keyless entry, keyless start and the CVT transmission. No digging in my purse for the key!! I have so much fun driving it.The gas mileage is awesome. Bottom line, I love my Altima!
