bad engines - 2008 Nissan Altima
By GENE - May 10 - 5:03 pmI have a knocking / rattle when I step on the gas when the car is cold. I have had my car in and out of Nissan service about 10 times at this point. I finally got them to admit that the noise exists. They have changed the heat shield but the noise still occurs. Nissan is telling me that this is normal and there is no piston skirts on 2.5 engines

By Jason - May 6 - 11:06 pmThe vehicle is noisy and the ride is rough. I have been back to the dealership and they told me that tire complaints are common. Nissan is using sub-standard tires trying to keep costs down!

Altima CVT Transmission Problems - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Oblique - December 16 - 2:16 pmIronically what attracted me to the Altima besides its styling was the CVT (Continuously Varible Transmission) which is a new style automatic with a belt inside instead of gears. It is smooth but not reliable or durable. After just 55,000 miles the transmission began to act up on warmer days especially in stop and go traffic. The dealer just said, "oh that cant happen. They reset the check engine light and charged me to replace the fluid (60K service) and the very next week it got worse, check engine light on all the time. They spent 5 hours telling me a new transmission would be covered under the extended warranty. I am trading this troubled CVT Altima in on a HONDA Accord! CYA, CVT!

Very Disappointed - 2008 Nissan Altima
By jcald - December 10 - 4:23 amAt around 30,000 miles, the transmission went out. No warning at all. I tried to start it, it jumped forward and died. Nissan had to bring a wrecker. They replaced the transmission, but now I think it is going bad again. I have around 45,000 miles on it and 2 days ago, it started getting really loud, almost like an ATV. When I let off the gas, it still roars loudly. The engine has always been very loud and it has gotten worse with time. It has always jerked when taking off and it smells flooded when you start it. Last winter it would only start if I pumped the gas. Id crash the stupid thing if I didnt think Id get hurt! My opinion of Nissan is not good anymore.

By Re-think_Problems - May 7 - 9:40 pmI bought this car about 5 months a go. I was enjoying this car for first 2 months. It was fun to drive until I had to take it in for driver side seat movement. The driver seat moves left to right when you do any type of turns. It even moves when you move it by hand. Dealers last note on their service paper "Fixed the broken bushing, seat still moves." I have called their customer support number. They keep telling me that they are working on this problem. No resolution. Finally, I got hold of Lemon Law ATTORNEY and filled a LAW SUIT with Nissan. I will NEVER BUY NISSAN AGAIN.

By CJ - March 18 - 11:33 pmSince purchasing this vehicle in August, I have had it at the dealership 3 times for the same problem. Which I am told the vibration and shaking I feel when taking off and at low speeds is normal. I was told that the shaking and vibration is coming from the engine. What a total disappointment.

Horrible - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Adriana - November 21 - 6:16 amI bought my altima coupe a little over a year ago. I have had nothing, but problems with it. I think I have been in rental more than my own car over the course of the year Ive had it. Their is a problem with passenger airbag, tires are crap, makes ping noises all the time, engine revs to the point that it drives you crazy, and has horrible blind spots. The list can go on and on. I will never buy another nissan again!

junk, junk, junk - 2008 Nissan Altima
By junk - November 17 - 1:00 amI bought this car new. Had no problems with it until about 8000 miles. Since then, it has has a new radio and about to have a new rear view mirror. This is all I can get fixed. The transmission is junk and the motor runs like a diesel. It knocks and rattles and seems to get worse. The tranny is junk. Any load and it slips and I get ready to call for a pick up. The air bag sensor on the passenger seat is defected. Making matters worse, customer service says nothing is wrong and the car is old and is going to have these problems at 9000 total miles. I will never own a nissan again.

Poor gas mileage, no suspension at all! - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Alex - September 14 - 2:30 pmIm leasing an 08 Altima 2.5s, which Im ok with, as long as it takes me to work and back, not for fun. But I do not like a lot of things about it: GAS mileage is not going over 23.5 mpg probably like 60-40 hwy-city driving. I am not an aggressive driver, I accelerate slowly, computer shows that Im getting 30-40 mpg but its wrong all the time. It rides like there is no suspension at all, very stiff ride, noisy engine. I dont know if thats only my Altima, no good MPG, stiff suspension.

More Problems - 2008 Nissan Altima
By Kiran - January 24 - 4:53 amIt has been a year since I bought my car. 2-3 months into my new car, I was having problem with the drivers seat. It moves left to right. Took it to dealership 7 times and they had Nissan tech come out fix the problem. Nothing happen, problem came back. Now new problem appear, its making squeaky noise from the seat. I cant even move once I seat, otherwise Ill hear squeaky noise. I have contacted customer service and they keep telling me, they will fix the problem. No resolution. Also, I had problem with engine rattling. I had to take it in 3 times before tech can hear the problem. they fix this problem, but the problem is coming back now. NEVER BUY NISSAN CARS EVER.
