This Year's Model Updates:

The Sequoia is virtually unchanged for 2002. SR5 models have two additional stand-alone options this year: keyless remote and front foglamps.

Pros:
  • Ultra-refined drivetrain, surprisingly agile handling, versatile and comfortable interior, impeccable build quality.
Cons:
  • Non-descript styling, comparably low towing capacity.

  • Very cool vehicle - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Have only owned it 4 months/4000 miles but I love it. Uses a lot of gas (avg 15.2 mpg mostly city driving). Lots of room inside, comfortable seats. 3rd row easy to remove/install. Rear passenger climate controls are great. Sunroof is huge. Dont care for the default of outside air for a/c rather than recirculate.

  • Almost perfect - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

Basically a great vehicle. Faults are poor rearward visability and a hard to read dashboard. With polaroid sunglasses it is unreadable. Why they used dirty white numbers/letters instead of bright white Ill never know. Mileage is good for a vehicle of this size - about 17.5 mpg average including when I tow our 22 ft. Hi-Lo (low profile) trailer.

  • Awesome! - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

This is one big SUV! Toyota makes a great product. When deciding between the Ford Expidition, Yukon, and the Suburban there was no comparison. The build quality, resell value, and overall comfort won out.

  • THIS is how to go on an Expedition! - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

The Tahoe has very comfortable seats, but I couldnt enjoy them over the racket the brand new demos interior made. Ive logged thousands of miles renting Expys, and they just arent fun to drive. The price difference was worth it, and I havent had a moments remorse. Funny, nobody else driving a 2wd in snow has anything but praise for the Seqs ability. One must learn how to drive this new technology, however. Dont expect it to be like anything else.

  • It drives like a car - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
    By -

We did not have to take long to decide, the look is appealing form the outside, certainly much nicer that others in the same class. The inside is without question the best in class, comfortable and spacious. We then went on a test drive,it drives more like a car that a SUV, the responce from the engine when given a little throttle is exciting, you throw it into a corner and it sits on the road without that feeling of we are going to tip over. You must test drive this exciting vehicle.

  • Big Disappointment - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

After having a Ford Expedition, I would only buy a Toyota. This vehicle vibrates terribly. You will also lose your children if you open one of the rear windows while your driving. They will get sucked out the back and youll break your ear drums. This is a definite design flaw. Toyota is aware of this and is working on a redesign of the aero dynamics. I have heard that a bug guard and the rear spoiler help but Im getting rid of mine as soon as I can.

GREAT VEHICLE, PLENTY OF POWER, GAS MILEAGE IS A BIT OF A DISAPPOINTMENT, AROUND 15 MPG, LEATHER NOT AS HIGH A QUALITY AS IT SHOULD BE, OVERALL A NICE VEHICLE.

  • priced better than a Land Cruiser - 2002 Toyota Sequoia

i love my sequoia. i test drove several other suvs and found the sequoia to be the best ride, best looking and most luxurious with a third seat. i was very suprised initially when i was told i could get this ride under $40K!! i have recommended this truck to others and one has bought so far. go drive by a ford or chevy dealership and see how many exp/tahoes they have on the lot. toyota cant keep sequoias on their lots. they are the best suvs on the planet!!

  • Electrical Problems - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
    By -

This vehicle is an extremely comfortable SUV. The gas mileage is terrible, but size does matter. I have had issues with the electrical system, and now the air conditioning compressor. I cannot turn of the TRAC control off or on. Occasionally, the high beams are not usable. Now the air compressor just locked up. This vehicle has led a pampered life with all maintenance taken care of by dealerships. The mileage is only 68,000. What gives? This is my first Toyota, and I purchased because of the outstanding reputation for reliability. This has not been my experience with this vehicle. The gas mileage is also terrible. 15.6 MPG.
