Overview & Reviews
The Sequoia is virtually unchanged for 2002. SR5 models have two additional stand-alone options this year: keyless remote and front foglamps.
- Ultra-refined drivetrain, surprisingly agile handling, versatile and comfortable interior, impeccable build quality.
- Non-descript styling, comparably low towing capacity.

Super SUV - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
By JUNIOR JOE - June 9 - 12:46 amI bought the Sequoia used with 22,000 miles. The SUV has been super in every aspect except the front brakes, rotors warped three times, the Toyota dealer replaced at no charge to me for both rotors and pads. It is very comfortable on long trips for front and rear passengers. The average mpg is 16 that I can live with. Hauling my travel trailer it gets 11 mpg, still ok in my book, since the trailer weighs 5,500 lbs fully loaded. I have had no problem with the engine and transmission, both run very smooth.

Great SUV - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
By dnacrook - May 7 - 10:00 amJust got back from a camping trip and the 4 wheel drive worked great. Our friends brought up their $40k Suburban and it broke down on the way home. They said that they are looking seriously at buying a Sequoia. The sequoia is very comfortable and smooth. Build quality is exception, as one would expect from Toyota. Have had no issues with the vehicle.

Big, Roomy, Smooth and Quiet - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
By DK Dallas - April 17 - 1:03 pmI think this is the best of the SUVs Big, Roomy, Smooth and Quiet. Suspension is great...Double A-frame in the front(like lexus) and 5-link in the back(like Mercedes) With the overdrive off the acceleration is very good. Build quality was perfect, not had anything go wrong with it. 15.4 MPG in city driving.

Best SUV I am glad its mine - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
By Karen - March 30 - 7:10 amI wanted a truck that was comfortable so we purchased this vehicle so my husband could travel comfortably due to a back injury. We traveled across country with it and he had no problems at all with his back. The vehicle has given us no problems at all. Women out there I would recommend this vehicle to you. It is high so you can see over the cars ahead of you, its very comfortable, I cant say enough about it I love it and so do my dogs.

Pleased and Proud - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
By jeannette dean - February 4 - 12:03 amI love this vehicle because it gives me a feeling of security, its powerful, its roomy (allowing at least eight passengers comfortably and two bikes) and the design is majestic. I drove across country in it and found the gas mileage to be more than reasonable for a vehicle that size. This vehicle is loaded and every conceivable convenience has been considered.

Undecided - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
By dalex - February 1 - 10:00 amWhile the truck has performed well generally and is great in snow and rain, but there have been inumerable other "minor mechancial failures" such as power locks, windows and antenas all needing repairs as well other other issues. The problem...? These items are out of warantee and should not be breaking on a 2.5 yr old truck and have cost over $2,000 to repair. Toyota should come up with fold flat middle and rear seats. While they fold down, they do not fld flat and are cumbersome to remove from the truck and as a result take up considerable storage room when carrying cargo. Also the engine is slightly under powered.

Not your favorite toy. Beware!! - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
By redmanct - January 10 - 3:46 amPurchase the suv with 69,000 miles. My wife had been on me about one so I got it for her. First the rear window motor went out. The reason I purchased it Edmunds had such good ratings and its a Toyota. Now at 82,000 miles my transmission went out while my wife were driving it. (@ 82,000 miles) I will never buy another Toyota. Very disappointed.

Sequoia - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
By jane - December 30 - 10:00 amI love it. The only problem I see is the multiple holders in the headliner area in the model that doesnt have a moon roof. Ther should be a tv compartment.

Couldnt Be A Toyota - 2002 Toyota Sequoia
By azmark - November 27 - 2:30 amGreat highway cruiser. Very comfortable. However, not the Toyota quality I expected. Interior trim pieces kept falling off. Had to do a $2200 front brake job (entire front brake system!) due to poor quality in original materials. Toyota knew about this from the early Tundras, but never fessed up. Ive owned several Toyotas, Hondas and Nissans. This SUV was a big disappointment. Did I mention the poor gas mileage and anemic power? HP up for the latter years, but the original engine was smooth, put underpowered for the weight of the vehicle. Shame on you Toyota!
